The use of LIDAR data for vegetation detection and visualization
Šiková, Zuzana ; Štych, Přemysl (advisor) ; Potůčková, Markéta (referee)
The use of LIDAR data for vegetation detection and visualization Abstract The main object of this thesis is to evaluate the available software products for vegetation detection and visualization through the use of LIDAR data. The area of interest covers 200 ha and is situated in the area of Klínový důl nearby Špindlerův Mlýn. Data which are used in this thesis was provided by The Krkonoše mountains national park administration. The cloud of points was analyzed by five different programs: ArcGIS 10.1, LAStools, ENVI LIDAR 3.2, BCAL LIDAR Tools a LP 360. Cloud of points was separated in each program to obtain just the points which represent vegetation only. In the next step the elevation above ground level of every single point was calculated and then the cloud of points was divided in to three categories appropriate with the vegetation height. Outcomes of each program are compared and evaluated at the thesis conclusion. Keywords: LIDAR, airborne laser scanning, vegetation detection
Accessibility analysis of Prague public transport stops
Kapusta, Michal ; Štych, Přemysl (advisor) ; Lysák, Jakub (referee)
This document concerns with the network analysis of accessibility and space inclusion of the Prague public traffic stops. The main theme of the background research is accessibility and network analysis problematics. During analysis, the ESRI ArcGIS 9.3 software was used to test the time accessibility zone hypothesis as well as households' and companies' distribution. The map of spatial inclusion was also created for separate types of transports as well as for all public transport stops in Prague as well. The hypothesis of space public transport stop inclusion area increase away from center was proven to be true, however the dependancy of the households allocation in relation to the city center was not proven. The similiraity between households and companies allocation was found not to be fully provable. key words: accessibility, space inclusion, network analysis, Prague public city transport, ESRI ArcGIS 9.3
The use of high temporal resolution satellite data for monitoring of water quality
Šmejkalová, Tereza ; Štych, Přemysl (advisor) ; Slačíková, Jana (referee)
The use of high temporal resolution satellite data for monitoring of water quality Abstract Present study compares possibilities of sea water quality monitoring using high temporal resolution satellite data. The theoretical part describes basic principles of remote sensing, the spectral characteristics of water and their change caused by substances present in the water. The analytical modeling methods of chlorophyll-a concentration retrieval from MERIS data are described. In the study three processors are used, standard MERIS processor Case 2 Regional, FUB/Wew Water processor and FLH/MCI processor. In total 10 satellite images are processed, five for each of the two studied areas, the Golfe du Lion in France and Skagerrak and Kattegat straights in Northern Europe. As there is only limited dataset of in situ measurements available to validate the results, it is impossible to decide which of the processors is the most suitable one. It is however clear that none of the globally applicable algorithms can be as accurate as algorithms developed for the exact location and atmospheric actual conditions.
Evalution of forest vegetation in National park Šumava by using remote sensing data
Kolešová, Petra ; Štych, Přemysl (advisor) ; Součková, Jana (referee)
EVALUATION OF FOREST VEGETATION IN NATIONAL PARK ŠUMAVA BY USING REMOTE SENSING DATA Abstract: The goal of this work was to evaluate the changes of forest land cover in NP Šumava. It include health, species specification and also the evaluation of the landscape type changes per time by using satellite high- and very-high resolution screening between 1995 - 2010. In background research, the importance of remote-land-search in general and specially in forestry was analysed. Furter more, the theoretical background for used methods was described, f.e. classification, "tresholding" or the NDVI and LAI vegetation index Metod . The last one was used for tree healthiness detection and different forest species composition was classified. In practical part the detailed procedure of classification and the creation of the vegetation indexes has been described. In epilogue the achieved result were evaluated, discussed and compared with subject publications. Key Words: Repote Sensing, Forests, Classification, Vegetation Index, Spruce Bark Beetle, National Park Šumava
Evaluation of Land Cover Changes Using the Object Detections
Skokanová, Eliška ; Štych, Přemysl (advisor) ; Kupková, Lucie (referee)
The aim of the project is to perform object based change detection of land cover in specific areas of Czech republic. Landsat 2000 and Spot 2006 satellite images are used as input data. The method used for evaluation of changes is Multivariate Alteration Detection unsupervised method which is based on statistical procedures and is available from e-Cognition software. The results of detection are compared with Corine Land Cover changes database to evaluate degree of parity on detected areas. Different mapping unit is used to be able to detect smaller changes than Corine database. First part of the work is review of literature sources aimed on processing of satellite images, description of the spectral behavior of landscape objects, origins of Corine Land Cover database and principle of change detection using MAD. Second part deals with data adjustment, change detection process and comparison of reached results with Corine. Keywords: object based change detection, satellite images, Corine Land Cover, mapping unit of changes, Multivariate Alteration Detection, e-Cognition

This diploma thesis deals with the use of geographic information systems in issue of facility management. Its purpose is to show the advantages of this connection, mostly the visualization and analytical capabilities of GIS. The general issues of facility management are described in the first part of the thesis - what it is about, what it brings, the most important definitions and standards are provided there. Then it continues with theory about connection with GIS and answers the question, why this cooperation is beneficial. It continues with description of importance of GIS during whole life circle of real estate. The chapter is concluded by definition of another powerful tool in FM - CAD/BIM. The fourth chapter discusses one of the important tasks of FM - passportization and its meaning. The last chapter before conclusion focuses on the practical part of thesis dealing with campus of the Czech Post in Malešice. Keywords: Facility management, GIS, passportization, visualization
POSSIBILITIES OF GIS AND REMOTE SENSING IMPLEMENTATION IN GEOGRAPHY LESSONS AT SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Kymrová, Hana ; Štych, Přemysl (advisor) ; Hátle, Jan (referee)
The main objective of this paper is to show the possibility of involvement of GIS and remote sensing applications in teaching geography in secondary schools. The work introduces the basics of GIS and remote sensing, and proposes a way of engaging in teaching geography in secondary schools in form of worksheets and manuals for teachers. The worksheets are designed for the LeoWorks software and ESA School Atlas. The survey questionnaire for a selected sample of teachers and students examined the user-friendliness of the LeoWorks software and students' abilities to resolve the tasks created for them.
