Socio-environmental characteristics of Králicko microregion

The article is focused on relatively complex regional analyses of Králíky microregion. The analyses are focused on natural condition, location, historic evolution and on the present regional and environmental pocitics affecting the regional development. The results of public enquiry focused on perception of microregion are presented, too.

Potash industry in Bohemia in the 18th century

The article deals with the technological and ecological aspects of the pre-industrial production of wood-ash and potash in Bohemia which is held responsible for the negative impact on the state of Bohemian forests in the 17th - 19th centuries. New research has shown that following the introduction of forest regulations in 1754 potash production in Bohemia focused on intensification.

An abortive attempt of David Scheffel and Josef Kandert

A disputative contribution to the article Politics and Culture in Czech Ethnography (Anthropological Quarterly 67, 1994) written by D. Scheffel and J. Kandert shows its serious failings. The study of the history of the Czech ethnography must be analytical, not only essaystic and of problematic quality such as Scheffels and Kanderts article.
