Compensation of Polarization Effect of Cube-Corner Reflectors

Cube-corner retro-reflectors suffer from an unbereable influence on polarization of the incoming light. To conserve the polarization state upon reflection, the phase difference between both polarization components due to the total reflection must be compensated. If no loss of energy or additional correcting retardation elements are desirable, non-absorbing interference multilayers deposited on each face of the cube-corner can cancel the unwanted polarization effects. It is shown that this method can be used in two-color interferometry to compensate phase difference at both wavelengths simultaneously. Spectral dependence and sensitivity to the change in the angle of incidence and to the production deviations are discussed.

Laser Optics and Technology in the Institute of Scientific Instruments of AS CR Brno

Research and development is oriented to new principles of frequency stabilisation using various physical phenomena. In this field special types of frequency stabilised lasers including He-Ne iodine-stabilised laser etalons at 633 nm were built. For this purpose the technologies of special laser tubes and absorption cells were developed. High-sensitive electronic systems for frequency stabilisation were designed and constructed and computer based measurement evaluation technique was developed. An important role among our activities plays thin film deposition technology, i.e. design of interference filters and production of individual pieces or small batches of elements according to specifications. Optical multilayers are produced by electron beam evaporation.

Relative Poverty of Czech Households and their Consumer Behaviour

One of the key tasks ahead for EU countries is assessment and fight against poverty and social exclusion. Each member of european community has to concern with poverty measurement and prediction of households, which are by poverty endangered. Related to household income decrease under certain level (poverty line) is change of consumer behaviour, which can lead to increase of material inanition. This diploma work is therefore focused on determination of indicators, which either increase the risk of czech household decreasing below poverty line or monitor differences in customer behaviour of relatively "poor" and "rich" households.

Assessment of Information Systems

The thesis objective is to suggest a functional mechanism for evaluation and following selection of an information system. The thesis describes development of information systems, its history and modern trends of nowadays. It is also dedicated to the evaluating methodology including steps used while processing criteria selections. The thesis contains a practical test of criteria evaluation for a chosen company. According to its results a suitable system is selected. Comments of the final assessment include other scenarios when changing variables. The thesis presents the basics for evaluating and selection of an information system.

The aim of this thesis is to propose a new mobile service. At the beginning of this work are listed technologies, which are used in mobile communications. Furthermore, it defines the concept of mobile service, indicating a few examples. The practical part describes a custom design services and its variants. The new service is finally described as a possible new type of business.

Application of generalized linear model for mixture distributions

This thesis is intent on using mixtures of probability distributions in generalized linear model. The theoretical part is divided into two parts. In the first chapter a generalized linear model (GLM) is defined as an alternative to the classical linear regression model. The second chapter describes the mixture of probability distributions and estimate of their parameters. At the end of the second chapter, the previous theories are connected into the finite mixture generalized linear model. The last third part is practical and shows concrete examples of these models.

Electronic Banking

This thesis deals with the most significant forms of electronic banking. It focuses on their safety and their present state. The payment cards and their usage in common shops and on the Internet are analyzed. The thesis very detailed highlights problems connected with automated teller machines and it designs instruction for their safe operation. The actual situation of micropayment systems is described in detail. The head representatives are compared in light of functionality, limitations and operating fees, which are related to customers and sellers. The thesis includes the survey of current accounts intended for students in the Czech Republic, their comparison and advices for choice of the acceptable bank products.

Internet Communication

Internet communication is becoming increasingly frequent communication tool, compared to the normal communication (like phone calls, sending letters, etc.). Work described the development of Internet communication, focusing also on its forms (formal and informal). Based on these forms of work it also demonstrated how to create a username or avatar, that applies to the traffic. The thesis focused on the social networking site Facebook, which is becoming increasingly popular. Pointed to the history, usage and also describes the basic functions. Facebook is very good commercial tool, so the work is focused on displaying the possibility of commercialization of this social network. The thesis pointed to other social networks, which may not be as popular, but worth a demonstration. Generally it's not just a social network that could be used for Internet communication. On the contrary, this form is younger than communicators, which are also described and introduced. It focused on the best-known communicators such as ICQ, Skype, etc. The work is a survey and analysis, which focused on the global Internet communications. The thesis is based on research. Firstly, there is a focus on the security account on Facebook, as well as the use of online communications companies and finally to use Internet communications of the faculty.

Geocaching

Geocaching is recently becoming increasingly popular leisure activity in not only in the Czech Republic but also all over the world. Firstly, the work focused on explaining the nature of Geocaching, which deals with finding hidden mailboxes in a given geographical coordinates. Geocaching is not the only activity that is conducted by using GPS navigation but also refers to other options such as Wherigo, GPS Mission etc. The potential use of Geocaching in the commercial sector has not yet been fully exploited, and thus the work also deals with the commercial use of Geocaching which focuses on products and services related to Geocaching. It offers a second option, and commercialization of its substance. The essence is meant mostly concealed caches using GPS, but that does not work under the administration of Groundspeak, the Geocaching shelters. In commercialize the works of nature, especially offers the possibility of using small, but large companies (but also for the faculty) in the form of various competitions and other projects. The thesis is accompanied also by a survey whose results are mentioned through the whole work, i.e. chapters, which were related to the topic of questions in the survey. Results of survey were presented in separate chapters analyzed. Finally created a project called "Discover Jindrichuv Hradec", which is designed to raise awareness of Jindrichuv Hradec or to improve tourism. This project is created precisely to the already mentioned principle of Geocaching, and it has also created a special Web site.
