The Humanists' Portraits in Saxony of the First Half of the 16th Century
Chigladze, Kateřina ; Royt, Jan (advisor) ; Nespěšná Hamsíková, Magdaléna (referee)
Title: The humanists' portraits in Saxony of the first half of the 16th century In my work I tried to create an overview of the humanists' portraits in Saxony of the first half of the 16th century. I dedicated the bigger part of it to the court painters Albrecht Dürer, Hans Holbein, Lucas Cranach. Dürer's first portraits of Erasmus was charcoal-drawing, his second piece - a cupper engraving of Erasmus. Like Dürer Hans Holbein painted divers Erasmus portraits in different styles. Cranach painted the Cardinal Albrecht von Brandenburg not only within an open landscape, but also sitting on a desk the same way as Dürer did with his painting "Hieronymus im Gehäus". His first pictures Cranach responded to Dürer's cupper engraving of the cardinal A. von Brandenburg. All pictures have in common that they show different iconographic symbols. Other ones show the figure sitting at a table and writing letters, in the middle of a landscape or in a room. Key Words Portraitist - 16th century - Saxony - Lucas Cranach - humanists

Hovorková, Eva ; Zlatohlávek, Martin (advisor) ; Nespěšná Hamsíková, Magdaléna (referee)
The bachelor work deals with the work of Santino Cereghetti (about 1640 - 1791), stucco worker of Italian origin, in Svatá Hora. The first part deals with the technique concerning the stuccoed decoration. The second part concerns the Italian artists who came from the area surrounded by the lakes at the today's border between Italy and Switzerland and who worked as architects and stucco workers in the whole Europe. The third part of the bachelor work follows the changes in the stuccoed decoration and its form in Bohemia in the baroque time. The core of the bachelor work is in the fourth part in which the stuccoed work by Santino Cereghetti in Svatá Hora is described. The determination of the stuccoed decoration made by Cereghetti results from the contracts which prove his work and from the similarity of elements present in his form of the stuccoed decoration. Cereghetti's stuccoed decoration is embedded in the early baroque architecture. Changes in his stucco work are obvious. His first stuccoed decoration is of early baroque character. Later his stuccoes have typical high baroque features: Bernini's influence is reflected especially in the figures because Cereghetti's figures are moving, a concrete moment is displayed from which the direction of the movement and its intention are to be...
Renaissance Appearance of Melnik Castle
Čermáková, Lucie ; Zlatohlávek, Martin (advisor) ; Nespěšná Hamsíková, Magdaléna (referee)
Renaissance appearance of Mělník chateau Bakalářská práce - Lucie Čermáková The appearance of Mělník chateau has been developed for centuries. We cannot tell it is a typical Renaissance building structure but the most significant reconstruction took place in a Renaissance era. At that time, its horizontal projection was L-shaped. A person in possession, at those times, Zdislav Berka z Dubé had merit in most extensive treatments of the chateau in mid-1600. He invested considerable amount of money into building-up of the northern arcade wing-wall and a sgraffito decoration of the courtyard. Building treatments got under way in 1542 when Berka acquired the chateau and its finalization is assumed to have come between 1554-1555, also according to extant bills and engraven style found in sgraffito decoration. Sgraffito decoration came into existence in connection with a new build-up of the northern wing-wall and a staircase tower, and it also dates back to the same period. Mělník's sgraffito was considered as the oldest dated sgraffito decoration for a long time. However, we know about older examples of dated sgraffitos nowadays which cannot change the fact that Mělník's arcades, including its decoration, still belong to one of the oldest. The structure of Mělník's arcades are not to be found anywhere...

Late Gothic Murals of Žirovnice Castle
Motive of melancholy in the 16th and in the early 17th century
Bouček, Jan ; Royt, Jan (advisor) ; Nespěšná Hamsíková, Magdaléna (referee)
Motif of melancholy in the 16th and in the early 17th century The author attempts in his presented work to outline in brief basic ways of melancholy motif depiction in fine arts in the 16th and in the early 17th century. Emphasis is primarily placed on personification or allegory of melancholy that is based on the period theoretical considerations. The basis for melancholy perception as a state on the balance of madness and brilliance were laid by classical philosophers like Plato and Aristoteles. Subsequently, these considerations were extended by interconnection of melancholy with astrology in the Middle ages. Thus melancholics get under the influence of the divine Saturn planet. This is where many depictions of so called Saturn children emerge showing allegory of crafts and professions attributed traditionally to melancholics. Frequent depictions of a mythological Saturn-motif swallowing his children are on this basis a symbol of ambivalent nature of melancholics fluctuating between divine brilliance and madness. These ideas were revived by Florentine humanists in particular by the person of Marsilio Ficino in the 15th and 16th century who combined them into a complex theory of melancholy. Thanks to this theory fine arts ceased to be considered in accordance with old tradition a craft and were...
