Title: The humanists' portraits in Saxony of the first half of the 16th century In my work I tried to create an overview of the humanists' portraits in Saxony of the first half of the 16th century. I dedicated the bigger part of it to the court painters Albrecht Dürer, Hans Holbein, Lucas Cranach. Dürer's first portraits of Erasmus was charcoal-drawing, his second piece - a cupper engraving of Erasmus. Like Dürer Hans Holbein painted divers Erasmus portraits in different styles. Cranach painted the Cardinal Albrecht von Brandenburg not only within an open landscape, but also sitting on a desk the same way as Dürer did with his painting "Hieronymus im Gehäus". His first pictures Cranach responded to Dürer's cupper engraving of the cardinal A. von Brandenburg. All pictures have in common that they show different iconographic symbols. Other ones show the figure sitting at a table and writing letters, in the middle of a landscape or in a room. Key Words Portraitist - 16th century - Saxony - Lucas Cranach - humanists Shrnutí Předmětem mého bádání byly portréty učenců z 1. poloviny 16. století v Sasku a nástin jejich ikonografie a ikonologie v dílech nejvýznamnějších německých umělců, jakými byli Albrecht Dürer, Lucas Cranach a Hans Holbein. Portréty učenců vznikaly v malbě, rytině, dřevorytu, ale také na mincích. Díky objevu knihtisku se rychle šířily a stali se záhy velmi oblíbeným způsobem reprezentace vyznamných osobností. Mezi objednavateli byli jak zástupci katolické strany (Kardinál Albrecht von Brandenburg), tak také vznikající protestantské ( Friedrich der Weise). Nejvýznamnějšími učenci Saska byli jistě Melanchthon, Luther a kardinal Albrecht Brandenburský. Výchozím předobrazem pro ikonografii portrétů učenců se stal hlavně sv. Jeroným, který je známý překladem Bible do latiny a je tudíž vzorem učenosti a vzdělanosti. Na portrét sv. Jeronýma ve studovně od Albrechta Dürera z roku 1514 navazují na příklad vyobrazení kardinála Albrechta Brandenburského, kterého mnohokrát maloval Lucas Cranach, ale také portréty Erasma Rotterdamského, který byl v této souvislosti také zařazen do výčtu učenců. Erasma Rotterdamského několikrát portrétoval Quentin Massys, ale také Albrecht Dürer a Hans Holbein. Portréty Martina Luthera vytvořil Lucas Cranach Starší. Nejstarším portrétem je rytina z roku 1520. Všeobecně lze říci, že...
