The images of femininity in chosen texts of horror literature

The main aim of my work is to characterize the images of female literary heroines in the context of the horror genre. Analysis and interpretations of the selected texts have been drawn on two levels. The first stage of my analysis is the interpretation of women figures in area of today's social norms and values. This means on the socio-cultural level. The second stage is the analysis of archetypal symbology in text. The first chapter deals with theoretical approaches of literature in traditional and feministic point of view in connection with theories of analysis and interpretation. In the second chapter I am in detail interested in questions of methodology and methods and their application on the horror text on the theoretical and practical level in the context of my analysis. The chapter contains theoretical limitation of content interpretative analysis as a method I chose. The next chapter comes out from common theoretical definition of genre. The factors typical especially for the horror genre are there described in more detail. The content of this chapter is targeted on the theoretical, epistemological and practical concepts that allow me to apply them to the concrete level of horror genre. Political representation of immigrational minorities in the Netherlands

My master thesis study political representation of immigratory minorities in the Netherlands. I analyzed the political aspects of peaceful co-existence of majority and minorities that speak different language, profess different religion or have different color of skin. I presented concept of political integration that stands for agreement on rules under which the political decisions are passed. This concept is based on codified norms of the society and their consistent enforcement regardless ethnicity of people who break them. The second part of political integration is authentic representation of minorities which is the state that secures that representatives of minorities may effectively participate in policy making and removing of discrimination. Authentic representation supposes that there are political representatives with minority origin minorities in the legislative bodies. The second condition is that they are able to communicate and to understand to participate in the political discussions. The third assumption is political recognition assuming that the representatives from majority do not have any prejudice against minorities and take as equal partners in the political discussion. Téma mé bakalářské vykrystalizovalo ze zájmu o genderová studia a teologii. Velkou inspirací pro studium této problematiky pro mě byla kniha Jany Opočenské "Z povzdálí se dívaly také ženy (Výzva feministické teologie)" (1995), která představuje poměrně komplexní pohled na feministickou teologii v křesťanském kontextu a je v podstatě jedinou ucelenou prací na toto téma v České republice. Díky této studii jsem získala o dané problematice rámcový přehled a odkazy na další literaturu, která se stala podkladem pro moji práci.

An Analysis of Erben's Bouquet within the Context of Feminist Literary Theories

The diploma thesis An Analysis of Erben's Bouquet within the Context of Feminist Literary Theories is the first study within Czech literary criticism dedicated to this canonical collection of poetry that has been carried out from a gender perspective. In its analysis of the gender aspects contained in Erben's collection, the thesis mostly draws on methods introduced by Anglo-American feminist literary criticism during the seventh and eighth decades of the 20th century. The thesis then touches upon the potentials of poststructuralist theory for addressing gender analyses of this particular collection of poetry. Fetterley's resistant reading and reader response criticism that investigate the relationship between readers - female readers particularly - and literature, especially within the broad context of both the patriarchal society based on hierarchical gender organization and the specificities of women's lived exeperience, are the major methodological and theoretical points of departure of the thesis. Gender redefinitions of the cabin attendants' profession

It is an empirical thesis grounded on data received during a research focused on a question of the definitions and possible redefinitions of a profession of cabin attendants. I am interested in the way cabin attendants perceive this profession, how they define it, in what interaction this profession and gender identity of cabin attendants is, how cabin attendants perceive their masculinity and femininity at their profession, to what extention they are influenced by gender stereotypes, how this dilemma is connected to the issue of family and partnership life. At the same time I am focusing on how this profession is dealt by Czech media. In this thesis I am using qualitative and quantitative methods of research, I am using grounded theory for datas received from structured interviews with open questions, I am evaluating data received from standardized questionnaire and for comparison I am doing search of articles from newspapers, magazines and internet concerning this profession. In my thesis I am using theoretical sociological and socio-philosophical literature, concerning especially the question of gender, family and work sphere.

This thesis is an ethnograp. It aimes to show the process of the identity change and the change of the character of the relationships. hic study of the situation of an immigrant called Lina from Bangladesh in Italy. It aimes to show the process of the identity change and the change of the character of the relationships. It points out to the both global and local power nets, especially the gendered ones. The framework of the "gendered geographies of power" was applied in this work, a tool designed by Patricia R. Pessar and Sarah J. Mahler for the topics related to migration processes. It encompasses the influance of gender in the relations in and between different levels of social reality (state, body, family), then the location of the person in the power hierarchies developed from historical, political, economical, parental etc. factors and in the last place the agency of the people involved. The thesis is based on the materials from a fieldwork, a situation when the researcher is in a direct and intimate contact with the daily life of the informant.
