Types of production in Czech Television with focus on commisioning work to external producers.
Hirsch, Cyril ; Myslík, Václav (advisor) ; Svoboda, Otakar (referee)
Czech Television has long been one of the biggest co-producers of Czech film. At the same time, however, it is also one of the main organisations to commission work from freelance producers in the production of audiovisual creation. It is therefore highly likely that most of the graduates of the Department of Production (and other departments at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts ? ?FAMU?) meet each other in their professional lives at Czech Television sooner or later. A good understanding of the individual types of production at this institution should be an inherent part of the knowledge of film school graduates. Novice independent producers and authors are undoubtedly interested in the criteria for commissioning work or the possibility of co-production, what the set-up is like and what decides on how it all looks. The primary aim of this paper is to come up with a sort of ?manual? for freelance producers and authors to help them find their way around this issue. The second aim of the paper is somewhat more general. I will attempt to examine the freelance commission and co-production of an audiovisual piece of work within the context of public service television.

This work considers genre rules of a sitcom and describes two general phases of realisation: development and execution. The work conveys from practise which is estabilished by Anglo-American production and tries to confront the practise with czech settings. The primal emphasis of the work is put onto genre purity and supervison of the producer. The work is devided into three chapters. The first chapter deals with a definition of the genre and its history. It describes the beginning of the sitcom as well as the reason for its success and transformation into present form. Moreover, it outlines contemporary trends and predicts the future ways of development of the genre. The second chapter is devoted to the development of the concept and the pilot episode. It describes the procedures which are used in Britain and USA and tries to apply these procedures on internal conditions. This chapter also points out some problems of czech settings and offers how to solve these problems. The third chapter describes aspects of execution. Product Placement - the Theoretical Base
Souralová, Ladislava ; Kallista, Jaromír (advisor) ; Myslík, Václav (referee)
Bachelor thesis ?Product Placement ? the Theoretical Base? engages in one of possible tools for financing film projects. The reason for its creation was the lack of professional literature about this theme in the czech language, so its goal is to create coherent theoretical base to this problem in czech. Another goal was to make producers familiar with the point of view of the other part of this process, ie marketing manager. The thesis is divided into six chapters. At first I make the reader familiar with several product placement definitions and history of its use. Then I describe various formas and types of product placement including the outline of all possible medias to be used for product placement. In next chapter I analyse conditions and circumstances of product placement use, which must be, more or less, respected to avoid complications. In chapter five I mention types of possible contracts and in the last chapter I concern about branded entertainment, which includes product placement.
