The Master?s Thesis The Licensed Formats in Television describes the TV program formats market. The thesis in general defines the individual types of formats and mentions where they are traded and under what conditions. It also deals with the legal aspects, contractual issues and last but not least the copyright protection. Development of the TV format market in the Czech Republic is covered in more detail with focus on the individual organizations and TV companies and the process of purchasing, production and exploitation of TV formats. The final part then includes an analysis of six most popular TV formats broadcasted in the Czech Republic. These case studies are used to illustrate specific situations, which may occur during the production and broadcasting of TV format releases.
