Compatibility of selected dental alloys with magnetic resonance imaging
Linetskiy, Igor ; Hubálková, Hana (advisor) ; Suchánek, Jakub (referee) ; Dostálová, Taťjana (referee)
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of the up-to-date and perspective methods of diagnostic medical imaging. It is highly valued for absence of ionizing radiation, non-invasiveness, acquiring of highly accurate images of hard and especially soft tissues in any plane. It is a method of choice in central nervous system imaging. Nowadays it is used in diagnostics of other diseases in the maxillofacial area. The major shortcoming of MRI is interaction of magnetic fields of MRI system with metallic objects present in human body. As a result, this may lead to their heating, movement, and also to imaging artifacts. Since different metallic constructions (fixed bridges, dental implants, splints, plates, orthodontic appliances, etc.) are often used in the contemporary dentistry, the problem of their compatibility with MRI is relevant. The aim of this study was to validate the compatibility of dental alloys with MRI, classify the materials according to the degree of compatibility and to establish the range of their possible negative impact on quality of MRI in head and neck area. In order to find dental metals and alloys, General Health Insurance Company code- list, catalogues of manufacturers' and Prague dental labs were used. Measurement methods of magnetic susceptibility (MS), electric conductivity...
Inflation: Predictive Power of Google Trends Data
Suchánek, Jan ; Stráský, Josef (advisor) ; Holub, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis explores the utility of Google Trends data in enhancing predictive power accuracy of ARIMA models for forecasting inflation in the Czech republic. The research was structured to address two core hypotheses: the rationality of inflation expectations as reflected in Google Trends search queries and the ability of the data to augment the predictive power of traditional inflation forecasting models. Our findings indicate that Google Trends data, when incorporated as an ex- ternal regressor in ARIMA models, significantly improve the model's predictive accuracy, especially in periods characterized by high inflation rates and eco- nomic turbulence. This provides evidence for the claim that Google Trends is able to effectively capture shifts in consumer sentiment and expectations. However, the study acknowledges limitations, including the specificity of the time domains analyzed and the exclusive focus on the Czech Republic. These factors may limit the generalizability of the results. In summary, this thesis contributes to the evolving field of economic fore- casting by demonstrating the value of integrating unconventional digital data sources like Google Trends into traditional econometric models. It opens av- enues for future research to explore the broader applicability of such data in...
Left behind places and spatial aspects of elections: nativism, populism, and the geography of discontent
Suchánek, Jonáš ; Hasman, Jiří (advisor) ; Kostelecký, Tomáš (referee) ; Maškarinec, Pavel (referee)
The topic of migration has come to the forefront of the European media and political discourse following the refugee wave in 2015 and 2016, accompanied by mainstreamed anti-immigrant and nativist narratives. In the subsequent years, populist radical right parties in many countries reached their electoral peaks and after Donald Trump's victory in the 2016 presidential elections and the Brexit referendum, academic interest in studying populism surged intensely. One of the key conceptual approaches that contributed to the academic debate on exploring the causes of societal radicalization and polarization, as well as the resulting electoral manifestations, was the contextual understanding of specific peripheral areas through the lens of so-called left behind places and the geography of discontent. However, despite this contextual understanding of electoral processes, most studies rarely utilize modern spatial methods and the majority of such analyses primarily focus on the United States and countries in Western and Northern Europe. This dissertation thus introduces a comprehensive spatiotemporal analysis of the Czech (and Slovak) electoral environment at the detailed level of municipalities. This allows for verifying the validity of the given concepts that find application in other countries. In...
Release of bisphenol A and its analogues from dental restorative materials
Tichý, Antonín ; Bradna, Pavel (advisor) ; Izakovičová Hollá, Lydie (referee) ; Suchánek, Jakub (referee)
Bisphenol A (BPA) is an endocrine disruptor that may be released from dental polymeric materials. The aim of this study was to examine the kinetics of the long-term release of BPA and its analogues from restorative materials (composites, hybrid glass ionomer cements) and polycarbonates used in dentistry. Extracts in ethanol and artificial saliva were collected after 1-260 days for restorative materials and after 1-84 days for polycarbonates. All extracts were analyzed by ultra high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. BPA was detected in all tested materials, while its analogues were not found. The release of BPA from all tested materials was highest during the first day, followed by a significant decrease for all materials and a complete stop for the "BPA-free" composites. Among restorative materials, the highest amounts of BPA were released from composites with BPA-based monomers, followed by hybrid glass ionomer cements. The least BPA was released from "BPA-free" composites. Shorter irradiation time did not significantly affect the total amount of BPA released from restorative materials, but it significantly increased the release of BPA during the first day. The release of BPA from polycarbonates was significantly higher than from restorative materials. Given the current...
Exploring the means of collaborative music sharing and its alternatives
Mikač, Jan ; Suchánek, Jiří (referee) ; Kubíková, Zuzana (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of sharing, streaming and archiving music in the internet environment and the design of a platform that is an alternative to the existing ones. Nowadays, when there are countless streaming services, I miss a space dedicated to music sharing, regardless of the preferences of these particular streaming services, both from the users and the performers. Beyond that, however, I would like to create a space for meaningful archiving and categorization of music with maximum personalization for individual users. In the text, I will therefore describe my own motivations, inspirations, individual features, but also my own experiences with using existing streaming platforms, or tools that are currently widely used, but also those that are less well known and operate on open-source or user-made principles. I then use this experience as a basis for the prototype itself (working name of the prototype - MSP).
The effect of migration on electoral geography of populist-nationalist parties: the case of Freedom and Direct Democracy - Tomio Okamura party
Suchánek, Jonáš
Analytical research of a migrant's presence in a certain location on election outcomes of populist-nationalist parties is a relatively new phenomena in the field of electoral geography. Media and political interest in migration and refugees has risen rapidly in the last few years and offers a broad opportunity for relevant scientific studies. This thesis stems from existing literature, that have studied such relation and focuses on the case of The Freedom and Direct Democracy - Tomio Okamura Party (SPD) and on the possible influence of the share of migrants on SPD's electoral support at two different scale levels (municipalities with authorized municipal offices and individual municipalities) during the 2017 parliamentary elections. Analysing the most important groups of migrants and additionally a formed group of migrants coming from countries with either dominant or significant Muslim native population can be considered as innovative. The main goal is to discover whether the election outcomes of SPD, which stands strongly opposed to migration, differ based on the share of migrants in a certain area, or if migration does not play any role at all. Furthermore, the electoral geography of SPD is compared to the of Tomio Okamura's former party - Dawn of Direct Democracy, whose rhetoric did not focus...
