The relationship of perceived quality of life, sport engagement and psychological resilience of para swimmers
Koroleva, Alena ; Daďová, Klára (advisor) ; Pavlová, Ilona (referee)
Title: The relationship of perceived quality of life, sport engagement and psychological resilience of para swimmers. Objectives: The main aim of the thesis is to investigate whether selected traits in the area of psychology (resilience, hardiness, grit) are related to perceived quality of life and sport engagement of para swimmers. Furthermore, whether we can predict quality of life and sport engagement based on these characteristics. Methods: Thirty-two adult respondents (13 females, 18 males), aged 19 to 59 years (mean age 29.2±8.5 years), participated in a survey. Data were collected using a questionnaire focusing on general information, life satisfaction, grit, resilience, sport commitment and hardiness (Martin et al., 2015), which was translated into czech by Jiskrova (2019). Results: Life satisfaction (LS) is statistically significantly correlated with resilience (r=0.61) and hardiness (r=0.41). Sport engagement (SE) was only statistically significantly correlated with hardiness (r=0.46). Life satisfaction, based on regression analysis, can be best predicted from resilience, which explains LS from about 37 %. SE can only be predicted from hardiness, which can explain SE from about 21 %. Key words: physical disability, para sport, endurance, mental toughness, grit, resilience, hardiness

Moudrá, Kristýna ; Vařeková, Jitka (advisor) ; Pavlová, Ilona (referee)
Title: Functional independence measures in wheelchair rugby players Objectives: The aim of the thesis is to investigate the relationship between the sports activity of wheelchair rugby players and the degree of functional independence in daily activities in people with spinal cord injury. Methods: 20 male wheelchair rugby players aged between 20 and 51 years, in the range of spinal cord injury level C5 - Th8, were selected for the empirical mixed research using the purposive sampling method. The methods of data collection include an interview and a self-constructed questionnaire that elicits anamnestic data, subjective assessment of self- sufficiency and player's experiences with health complications associated with wheelchair rugby. Furthermore, an evaluation of the SCIM III functional degree of independence was carried out, the results of which were compared with the results of two previous studies (EMSCI and assumptions of Occupational Therapists from the Czech Republic). Results: The results confirm a positive relationship between the player's functional independence and the sports activity of wheelchair rugby players. Respondents at levels of complete spinal cord injury C6 and C7-8 with the SCIM III assessment demonstrated a higher functional independence rate compared to the overall average...

(AJ) Title: Teambuilding activities for classes of children in inclusion. Objective: The main aim of this thesis was the creation of a methodology for an activity called "team building" for classes, which the disabled pupil was integrated into. The main aim was to support the positive creation of relationships within the class team and influencing of classmates' attitudes to the inclusion of an individual with a disability into physical education. Fitness training for individuals after spinal lesion
Mandát, Marek ; Vařeková, Jitka (advisor) ; Pavlová, Ilona (referee)
Title: Fitness training for individuals after spinal lesion Objectives: The aim of the bachelor thesis is to monitor the influence of physical intervention in the form of fitness training on body composition and movement performance of individuals after spinal lesion. Methods: In the framework of a quantitative and qualitative research study, four subjects after the spinal lesion who are participating in the reconditioning stay at the Paraple Center were observed in case studies. Among the selected subjects were three males and one female, three of them with paraplegia and one with tetraplegia in the range C 6 - Th 6. The average subject age was 41.5 years (24 - 74). Except for one individual, all showed moderate overweight and decreased exercise activity in everyday life outside the research. Research methodology consisted of one month intervention in the form of individually adjusted fitness training. In order to set up the intervention and to evaluate the effect, the following methods were used for input and output testing: observation, assessment of body composition using the Bodystat instrument and evaluation of exercise performance by measurements on a rowing and cross- country trainer where the mileage was monitored. Results: All subjects attained a slight improvement in body composition in...
Relationship of quality of life and hardiness, relisience and grit in parahockey and wheelchair rugby players
Jiskrová, Markéta ; Daďová, Klára (advisor) ; Pavlová, Ilona (referee)
anglicky Objectives: This thesis aims to investigate whether we can predict the general and sport- specific quality of life of athletes with physical disabilities based on selected positive psychological constructs (resilience, hardiness and grit). Method: Forty players of para ice-hockey and wheelchair rugby (of which only two were women) underwent this study. The data were obtained by a questionnaire, compiled by Professor Martin from Wayne State University, which contains six parts: general information, life satisfaction, grit, resilience, sports engagement and hardiness. The "translation and reverse translation" method was used to translate the questionnaire. We used the statistical program IBM SPSS 2200 to analyze the obtained data. Results: Life satisfaction can be best predicted on the basis of hardiness (R = 0.686), but also resilience (R = 0.496) and grit (R = 0.340). We can predict sports engagement only based on resilience (R = 0.374). We recommend searching for other possible positive constructs that could better predict sports engagement. Key words: quality of life, sport engagement, life satisfaction, resilience, hardiness, grit, para ice hockey, wheelchair rugby
