Hydraulic solution of the swirl turbine for locality of Rosenauer mill
Pavlíček, Tomáš ; Veselý, Jindřich (referee) ; Haluza, Miloslav (advisor)
This thesis focuses on the design of a swirl turbine for the site of Rosenauer Mill, where the gross hydraulic head HB is 1 m and the flow rate is Q is 1.6 m3/s. The beginning of the work is dedicated to microturbines and explains why a swirl turbine is suitable for this location. The procedure applied for developing the hydraulically active surfaces of the turbine is then presented. Firstly the design of the blades is based on analytical formulas, which are further refined using the CFX Ansys program. The turbine is closely affected by the inlet and draft tube, therefore their design is also included in this thesis. The hydraulic calculations yield the resulting parameters and characteristics of the designed turbine, calculated from the entire assembly using CFD computations. The final section of the work is devoted to the design of main structural components such as the gear, shaft, and bearings. The hydraulic design developed in this thesis serves as the basis for implementing the swirl turbine and constructing a small hydraulic power plant at the Rosenauer Mill.
Analysis of correspondence to Josef Hlávka (Communication strategies, stylization of one Czech maecenas and self-stylization of the letter-writters)
Eurasian Economic Union: Towards Economic Prosperity, or towards Power Gains?
Pavlíček, Tomáš ; Parízek, Michal (advisor) ; Kučerová, Irah (referee)
The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) emerged more than one year ago but so far there has been no consensus on the nature and the main aspects of the cooperation. Whereas some observers underline pure economic incentives of the integration, others see the regional organization as a tool for increasing the power of the strongest members, and especially Russia. Strongly echoed in public discourse is a comparison to the former Soviet Union. To tackle the issue, the thesis asks: What are the main motives for participation in the project? Which main benefits are expected by the members to be gained? These questions are answered through a content analysis of verbal expressions of five presidents who hold the main decision-making powers in EEU's member states. Based on theoretically generated analytical categories, the thesis conducts a quantitative analysis of the discourse, which is then discussed in the context of the post-Soviet space. The findings reveal the motives which the presidents use to legitimize the membership and show the main cleavages that threaten to undermine the development of the organization.
The design of Pelton turbine for given parameters
Pavlíček, Tomáš ; Veselý, Jindřich (referee) ; Haluza, Miloslav (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to create a project of a small Pelton’s turbine for laboratory use, focusing on the design of nozzle and blade. Designing these two parts included beam measuring, calculating the losses in the piping and finding the working point of the pump. In its first part this thesis reviews the history, the operating principle and the main parts of the Pelton’s turbine. The next part includes finding the appropriate shape of nozzle and measuring the beam, followed by the calculation of lossy coefficient and efficiency of the nozzle from the measured values. The third part is dedicated to calculation of losses in the piping and finding the working point of the pump. In the last part, blade is designed.
The literary life of the Second Republic (1938 - 1939)
Architecture of the First Half of the Twentieth Century in the Western Part of the Ústí Region
Pavlíček, Tomáš
The paper "The Architecture of the First Half of the Twentieth Century in the Western Part of the Ústi Region" ( in the preparation of art pedagogy and its didactical use in the realm of electronic media) covers - as it is obvious from the title - not only the architecture and its pedagogical reflection. In the first part of the paper the author tries to touch a phenomenon of the relationship of the society to the area itself. This phenomenon is significant as it unveils the social relationships and forces which were decisive in not only forming the region, but also influencing the way of interpretating the history, especially the history of the first half of the twentieth century. The main part of the paper consists of a description of the architecture in the interim period between the two world wars, in the identification of its creators, in the discerning of its Czech and German origins. The focus on the Ústi region is not by chance, as it is the home region of the author. The region is defined, starting at Ústi nad Labem going as far as Chomutov. This part traces the architectural development of German creativity in the Czech area and compares it with the Czech product. In our paper we have to note the more conservative approach of the German architects, who combined the procedures of expressionism with...
A lawmaker for life. Czech members of the Austrian House of Peers (1879-1918) between politics and prestige
Pavlíček, Tomáš ; Velek, Luboš (advisor) ; Galandauer, Jan (referee)
The author of this paper researches a subject new to Czech historiography - that of Czech life peers in the Austrian parliament between 1879 - 1918. He attempts to do it not only on the level of archive research, but also parliamentarism (the idea, foundation and operation of the House of Peers), political strategies (nominating candidates for peers), social stratification (social classes represented), social promotion (acquiring symbolic capital), political culture (perception of politics and the position of the peers by themselves and the society), and methodology. The author asks the question of what approach to choose for the research of the peers' lifestyle and their parliamentary identities. The latter differed from the political thinking and political behaviour of the members of the lower house in the following respects: less active up to completely uninvolved parliamentary career, apolitical activity in one's own occupation, office and one's own nation, appreciation of the individual's career and his merits to the society by being awarded an order, becoming a nobleman, and gaining political power in the form of the peer's prestige. Attention is drawn to the introduction of the general, equal and direct voting rights in Cisleithania in 1906, which remarkably increased the House of Peers' political...
The Secularization of the Prague Working Class, Smichow and Its Vicinity in the Second Half of the 19th Century.
Černý, Jan Karel ; Štaif, Jiří (advisor) ; Pavlíček, Tomáš (referee)
(in English) A thesis deals with the secularization of a Prague, especially Smichow working class in the second half of the 19th century. The working class is usually considered the most secular stratum and the aim of the thesis is to verify the proposition locally and to examine why the process of secularization occurred in the working class so powerfully. The working class is drafted as a social stratum in which the process acts as well as the stratum actively practices it. The process of secularization is then divided into three categories; religion - spirituality - church and the process is conceptualized as "de-catholization" as well as the spiritual transformation. In the process of the transformation, traditional religion (Catholicism), its institutions (church) and religiosity lose their socio-cultural power and are replaced by modern ideologies, state (bureaucratic and rational) structures and implicit spirituality, resp., "un- religious faith". In the process of secularization, there is particularly stressed the role of urbanization, industrialization, socialism, church and its social teaching. In the thesis, there are combined theoretical approaches of the sociology of religion (the sacred canopy) and religious studies (dimensions of the Sacred) and are applied to the secondary and...
