The Role of Cytokines in Support of Malignant Properties of Glioblastomas
Fortelková, Nikol ; Hodný, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Nováková, Zora (referee)
The tumor microenvironment of Glioblastomas (GB) is very complex and transforms throughout radiotherapy and chemotherapy, posing a favourable environment for the malignant properties of GB including invasivity, which promotes aggressive recurrency of the tumor. These changes in the tumor microenvironment are partly induced by cellular senescence and cellular response to stress, accompanied by a specific secretome, so called senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP). The SASP is distinct in its secretion of growth factors, components of the extracellular matrix and remodelling enzymes, but above all proinflammatory cytokines, which may contribute to the malignant properties of GB. This thesis reviews the current state of knowledge of the potential role of selected cytokines of the SASP (IL-6, IL-1β, IL-8, IL-1α, TGF-β, CCL2, TNF-α) in support of the malignant properties of GB. Key words: glioblastoma (GB), senescence, SASP, malignant properties, cytokines

Nováková, Zdenka ; Ventura, Václav (advisor) ; Krahulcová, Beáta (referee)
Human society is getting old. We have to learn many new things about old people and dying, too. The work is divided into three basic parts. The first part is psychosocial view of being old and dying - society's attitude towards the old, how the old receive their physical and mental changes, society's looking at diseases and dying. The second part is biblical view of these phenomenons - the position of the old people in that time, society's attitude toward diseases and dying (new comprehension dying in New Testament). After biblical view follows philosophic. The last part is practical. In the research people were asked what they think about doctors' attitude towards dying people, if present society sufficiently speak about dying and death, if the care about the old people is acceptable, if they are able to speak about dying with their family, if they are afraid of dying and if so which things they have the biggest fear of.

Nováková, Zuzana ; Večeřová, Petra (advisor) ; Římanová, Radka (referee)
Political and educational role of public libraries in the 50 and 60 years in Ostrava region The thesis is focused on cultural politics of the communist regime in the 50s and 60s of the 20th century in relation to public libraries. Based on archival materials the main attention is paid to the situation in the Ostrava region Cultural policy was aimed in two directions. First through repression, when citizens were banned from access to ideas and works that the regime considered as harmful or objectionable. This activity was implemented by censorship of printed materials, sorting of collections and persecution of opponents. Second way to filling the gaps after undesirable denied authors by pro-regime publications, written in the style of socialist realism. Public libraries were using different sorts of methods how to bring readers to this new literature and how to bring them up to be loyal and conscious builders of socialism - e.g. discussions and reader's conferences, literature contests and polls, Fucik's badge, Month of books and so on. The focus is also on libraries promotion of actions and activities supporting the policy of the Party and the government, such as celebrations of party anniversary, recruitment in mining, atheistic education of readers etc.
Comparison of the evolution and the application of the portuguese and the spanish subjunctive
Nováková, Zuzana ; Jindrová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Hricsina, Jan (referee)
The present study tries to point out the most important differences between the Portuguese and the Spanish subjunctive mood. The purpose was not a statistical list of the distribution of particular expressions as the extent of the study does not permit it. Therefore, we also had to leave out some topics such as for example the sequence of tenses or temporal issues. This one is mentioned only marginally. Nevertheless, there are no substantial differences between the two languages in this respect. Altough it might be relatively difficult to separate temporal and modal aspect, we mainly focused on the modal alternation. We can consider three possible meanings of the subjunctive mood in both languages. The first one has its own modal value and is in the opposition with the indicative mood. This happens mainly in the subordinate adjectival clauses, after some expressions in noun clauses and after some prepositional expressions in circumstantial clauses. In the second case, the subjunctive mood depends on another modal expression and only repeats redundantly the modal value of the head element. This happens especially in main clauses, in noun clauses and in curcumstantial clauses. The last case represents the subjunctive form having assertive value, while losing its functional value. It comprises only the formal...
