From dramatic theatre to alternative theatre of movement and back
Bílík, Aleš ; NEBESKÝ, Jan (advisor) ; KUDLÁČKOVÁ, Jana (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to highlight key moments based on the practical experience of a student of dramatic arts on his way to the theater. It tries to capture the contribution that was mainly formed by experiencing improvised and professional motion theater, and how these experiences shifted his perception of acting, which was until then mainly formed by the approaches taught in the Department of Dramatic Theatre. It also addresses the question of the extent to which the projects contributed to his actors' and personal self-knowledge. The following chapters try to show by what means it is possible to achieve complete freedom on stage and how to best assess the actors own personality. It analyzes the conditions necessary to achieve this creative freedom, as well as the phenomena that lead to the opposite. The actor's body is here perceived as a basal platform for self-knowledge. Since the thesis is based on personal experience and primarily deals with the student's self-reflection, it is written mainly in the first person singular.

Vladislav Vančura´s Work as a Dramaturgical Problem
Janál, Zdeněk ; SÍLOVÁ, Zuzana (advisor) ; KUDLÁČKOVÁ, Jana (referee)
This final thesis concentrates on the artistic personality of Vladislav Vančura and on his artistic work, which is primarily evaluated from an inner context and in a continous process, however, a broader context of the society is also followed. The artistic work is summarizingly analyzed from its very beginning, meaning from the ripening of the author, followed by the forming of the author's artistic opinion and his participation in Devětsil, being committed to the society in the antifascist resistance. Further, it is analyzed from the first literature attempts to the masterpieces of prose of his literature, to the self-sacrificing work of the Obrazy z dějin národa českého. This reseach has been lead by the desire to understand some of the contexts of the author's writing and its main structural features, of which, above all, we mention the effort of finding new (not only) literature methods ,and the successfull experimenting, particularly with the possibilities of the language, which lead to the creation of a significant poetic style. This thesis does not omit other artistic forms, which Vančura, with his versatility, was interest in. Vančura was not a solitary artist, but was distinctive and very original, and did not write as if being torn away from the general cultural context. He was quite the opposite by being in its centre. In addition, this final thesis concentrates on the practical dramaturgical activities of its author and analyzes his own work - transforming Vančura´s prosaic work, Markéta Lazarová, into a play,Markéta,dcera Lazarova, which he prepared together with the director Pavel Ondruch to be performed as a graduate´s performance in the Disk theatre. This dramatization does not appear to be the only possible solution of converting Vančura´s novels into a theatrical form, it was created this way due to the concrete theatre conditions and also with consideration of the acting cast, however, with great respect to the original literature and its soul
CREATION OF ACTOR´S PART AND THE UNDERSTUDY
Horáková, Nina ; TÖPFER, Tomáš (advisor) ; KUDLÁČKOVÁ, Jana (referee)
I am particularly interested in the ways of developing a character. The description of actor?s work on the role starting from the read-through to the premiere and acting in the following performances. Where can actors draw inspiration from, how can they cope with the problems related to their preparation at rehearsals, how can they prepare their bodies or what are the limits of an actor's creativity? I am concerned with the creative process, which begins with analysing the drama, identifying its principal motif, as well as the main task of the drama. I deal with this topic on the basis of my own experience using a specific description of the work on the roles during my studies at the Theatre Faculty of Academy of Performing Arts as well as on the roles I performed in my one-year theatrical practice after my studies. The final part explores the issues of the understudies or covers in the theatre.
ON THE EDGE BETWEEN DISTANCE AND SELF - IDENTIFICATION
Kraus, Adam ; KUDLÁČKOVÁ, Jana (advisor) ; MRKVIČKA, Ladislav (referee)
The title of this work ?On the edge between distance and self - identification? refers to the problem that Adam Kraus is dealing with for some time. Kraus reflects his own experiences that he got at acting classes, on his internship in London and even during his first experience in stage direction. Although it´s not easy to move on this edge, he explores the conflict between his inclination to analyse things and to approach them in a critical way and between his need to identify himself with the character he creates. He tries to find the essence of this conflict and to find a way out of it that could develop his creative potential.
Contemporary Dramaturgy for a Large Repertory Theatre
Nováková, Hana ; SÍLOVÁ, Zuzana (advisor) ; KUDLÁČKOVÁ, Jana (referee)
The thesis describes the repertory staged in the Vinohrady Theatre during the five seasons 2007-2012. It analyzes the quality of the plays chosen and the results of their staging based on the reception from critics and audience as well as the experience of the author. It tries to cover some common tendencies in dramaturgy for a large repertory theatre such as Vinohrady. Then it concentrates on the type of repertory with mainly entertaining purpose throughout the history of this theatre and points out that the highlights of its history were when this type of repertory was merged with a consistently realized vision of an artistically distinctive director. According to the author boulevard theatre tendencies sometimes present in choosing the plays and their cast or in their staging contribute to the problems Vinohrady Theatre has as well as sometimes lacking connection between the director's conception and the needs of the ensemble.

Krejsová, Klára ; KUDLÁČKOVÁ, Jana (advisor) ; HLAVÁČOVÁ, Jana (referee)
The title of the submitted diploma work is Conscious development of the role as a condition for acting self-confidence. It is divided into 4 sections, 6 chapters and 10 subchapters. While writing it, I drew on my own experience and feelings; I quoted from properly denoted resources and authors. The aim of the work is not academic research, but rather some kind of classification of what I have learned during my studies at DAMU ? Academy of Performing Arts and what experience I have lived through. In the introduction the focus is on the difficulty of describing writing about acting and about reasons for the choice of the topic. In the next parts of the text I analyze my own feelings and experience gained during rehearsing various performances with various directors. I attempt to describe the circumstances that influence actor´s self-confidence and the relation between the personal self-esteem and the one of the actor. In the conclusion of my diploma work I express the belief that I am entering the acting world well equipped as for both the academic knowledge and acquired skills.
