Pohunek, Michal ; Kubín, Petr (advisor) ; Just, Jiří (referee) ; Halama, Ota (referee)
Michal POHUNEK, History of the Slavonic Monastery during the Hussite and Utraquist Period. Praha 2022. Doctoral dissertation. Abstract History of the Slavonic Monastery during the Hussite and Utraquist Period is a systematic and critical dissertation on the history of the Slavonic Monastery in the New Town of Prague and its monastic community in the period 1419-1471. For a deeper understanding of the events of the period, the research also considers the context of the events which occurred before and after this period and examines the relationship between the monastic tradition of the Order of Saint Benedict and the reforming spirit of the Hussite movement in fifteenth century Bohemia. The study examines the character of the mass liturgy performed at the monastery at the time and discusses the local monastic community's loyalty to monastic ideals and its relationship to radical movements in the fifteenth century. The community's relationship to the monastery's immediate surroundings is also discussed, and a general historical overview of the period is given, including a chapter on the movements and fate of the famous Reims Gospel.

The cult of Saint Martin in medieval Bohemia
Šárovcová, Klára ; Kubín, Petr (advisor) ; Doležalová, Eva (referee)
The master thesis deals with the cult of St. Martin of Tours in pre-Hussite Bohemia. The cult of St. Martin established itself in Tours in the second half of the 5th century, became the main Frankish saint during the 6th century, and maintained its position as one of the most important patrons of the kingdom during the reign of the Carolingians, from where veneration of him spread throughout Europe. After the cult of Martin came to Bohemia indirectly before the influence of the Archbishopric of Mainz probably during the reign of Vratislav II, he became one of the most important saints after the middle of the 12th century. The aim of the study is to present an analysis of the spread and manifestations of the cult of St. Martin in pre-Hussite Bohemia and to describe the influences that contributed to this process. The work is based on both historical analysis of sources and interdisciplinary research, which illustrates the overall picture of the cult. Keywords Saint Martin of Tours, cult, Sulpicius Severus, hagiography, Prague diocese, patrocinium

Pohunek, Michal ; Kubín, Petr (advisor) ; Čechura, Jaroslav (referee)
Bc. Michal Pohunek: Dějiny kláštera Na Slovanech za husitství v letech 1419 - 1442 Abstract History of the Slavonic Monastery in the Hussite Period between 1419 - 1442 This thesis describes the history of the Slavonic monastery, situated in Nové Město in Prague, and later also known as Emaus. My thesis concerns the period of the Hussite revolt between 1419-1442. At that period Holy Communion in the Slavonic monastery was offered to lay people in the utraquist mode - i.e., both bread and wine - and the monastic community became a part of the Hussite movement. The goals of this thesis are primarily theological, in line with the discipline of church history. First I want to contribute to the understanding of the spiritual and religious atmosphere in the whole of the Czech kingdom of that historical period, by describing its particular history in the Slavonic monastery. Second I would like to contribute to the comprehension of the possibility of Benedictine monastic life in the context of the Hussite movement and the influence of the utraquist monastery on the religious evolution of the time. This needs knowledge of the situation in the monastic community and its neighbourhood in that time. To understand the theological orientation of the monastic community in that period it is necessary to describe the...
Saint Gunther. An Heremit, Colonizer and Diplomat
Kubín, Petr ; Wernisch, Martin (advisor) ; Hlinka, Vít (referee) ; Nechutová, Jana (referee)
The presented thesis surveys the life and medieval cult of one of Bohemian patrons - St. Gunther. Gunther was a member of powerful Thuringian noble family named the Sizzons. He decided to be a monk under the influence of Abbot Gotthard of Hersfeld in 1005. After a novitiate in the Bavarian Abbey of Niederaltaich he became for a short time a provost in Thuringian Göllingen, but his local activity ended soon in fiasco. Therefore he returned to Niederaltaich and after that into a hermitage which he founded in Rinchnach in the Bavarian Forest. Here he lived with a small community untill 1040. He engaged first of all in colonization of the surrounding lands and in building of roads. Besides these he took also diplomatical journeys in the service of Roman kings and emperors. He might also have been involved in a mission among the Lutici and a visit at the royal court in Hungary. In the spring 1040 he left Rinchnach , probably in context with the expedition of Henry III to Bohemia, to enter a hermitage high in the mountains in Dobrá Voda near Hartmanice. After Henry's debacle in the battle at Domažlice in August 1040 he ensured a safe departure of Saxonian army, which operated in the neigbourhood of the North--Bohemian Bílina. He died on 9th October 1045 in the reputation of sainthood. The contemporaneous Abbot...
Ecclesiastical History of Benesov in the Light of Archeological Research
Váňová, Libuše ; Kubín, Petr (advisor) ; Doležalová, Eva (referee)
99 Bibliografická citace Církevní dějiny Benešova ve světle archeologických výzkumů /rukopis/: diplomová práce / Váňová Libuše; vedoucí práce: Petr Kubín. - Praha, 2011. - 99 s. Klíčová slova: Církevní dějiny Benešova - historie města - archeologie Abstrakt: Thesis "Ecclestical History of Benesov in the light of archeological research" is based on Publisher work, which charts the history of...
The Cult of Saint Zdislava of Lemberk
