Perception of personal experience with smoking cessation in relationship to the therapy of primary addiction: qualitative reseach among clients of therapeutic communities
Sovová, Adéla ; Radimecký, Josef (advisor) ; Štěpánková, Lenka (referee)
BACKGROUND - This thesis works on the assumption that one's own experience with smoking cessation along with the habit-breaking patterns that one gains from this experience, might have a positive influence on addiction treatment. It is assumed that these patterns help client with the overall treatment, the relapse prevention, motivation issues and continued abstinence. AIMS - The aim of this thesis is to investigate the effect of smoking cessation experience and the role it plays in the therapeutic community. I also focused my research on the clients' perception of the tobacco using in relation to their health, life and complete abstinence concept. METHODS - Both current smokers and ex-smokers as well as clients of two therapeutic communities were subjected to qualitative analysis. Purposive sampling method was used to select the respondents for semi-structured interview. Content analysis and partly interpretative phenomenological analysis were used to process the collected data. RESULTS - Based on the research, respondents perceive smoking negatively in relation to their health. They are aware of the tobacco dependence potential, however they do not include the issue into complete abstinence. The assumption that respondents utilize their smoking cessation experience in addiction treatment was in...
Tobacco Dependence Treatment and Depressive Disorder. Treatment Outcomes in Patients with Depression History
Štěpánková, Lenka ; Králíková, Eva (advisor) ; Šteflová, Alena (referee) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
Success rate of tobacco dependence treatment among patients with and without a history of depression Introduction: Higher prevalence of smoking among depressive patients, as well as higher risk of depression in smokers, are well documented. Views on treatment of tobacco dependence in this subgroup of smokers are controversial. Aim: A/ To compare the abstinence rate among smokers with or without a history of depression receiving treatment for nicotine dependence at one year follow up. B/ Factors associated with treatment success were evaluated and analysed. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 1 730 smokers treated at our Centre for Tobacco-Dependent (CTD) between 2005 and 2010 was conducted. Patients were treated with a combination of psychobehavioural interventions and pharmacotherapy (nicotine replacement therapy, varenicline, bupropion or combinations). At one year follow-up smoking abstinence was biochemically validated by measuring expired CO. Results: 16.7 % (289/1730) of smokers currently, or had formerly, received treatment for depression. Based on the average Fagerström Test of Nicotine Dependence (FTND), most patients with a history of depression were heavily nicotine dependent with a score of 6.1, compared to 5.6 (p=0.010) among those without a history of depression. The CO validated success rate...

NOVÁK, Petr. Efektivita primární prevence užívání tabáku v rámci programu Unplugged. [Effectiveness of primary prevention of tobacco use in the program Unplugged]. Praha, 2015. Počet stran 187, počet příloh 3. Disertační práce (Ph.D.). Univerzita Karlova v Praze, 1. lékařská fakulta, Psychiatrická klinika. Školitel prof. PhDr. Michal Miovský, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: This dissertation is based and was a part of large randomised trial featuring an evaluation of the effect of the school-based Unplugged prevention program implemented as part of the EU-Dap-2 international project. Consumption of tobbaco is one of the key risk factors causing serious illness and early death, although that can be prevented effectively. The Unplugged intervention consists of a total of 12 lessons delivered within one academic year and is based on the Comprehensive Social Influence Model. Aims: To ascertain whether the Unplugged program has an impact on tobacco use, by means of the lifetime and 30-day prevalence indicators. To verify the duration of the program's measurable effect over time using retests. Methods: The randomised trial of the program was conducted on a total of 1874 children (with a mean age of 11.8 years), who were divided into the experimental group (exposed Unplugged intervention) and the control group (without...
Využití současných prezentačních technik při virtuální rekonstrukci hypotetické podoby architektonické památky
Štěpánková, Lenka
While working on the renovation project for only partially preserved architectural monuments, the authors can typically choose either to restore only the genuine elements, or to replace missing pieces through replicas. Contemporary presentation techniques, including 3D modeling, virtual reality and augmented reality make it possible to combine these attitudes. The building can be kept in its preserved shape and its original appearance can be presented using some of the aforementioned techniques. The example of Chateau at the Brno Exhibition Centre suggests that such techniques are also suitable for a situation in which the architectural monument intended for renovation has actually never been completed. The aforementioned digital technologies can not only be used for final presentation, but also to discuss and find the right method of renovation, as they make it possible to share the ideas within the professional community worldwide without the need to travel and physically meet.
Charakteristiky evropských veletržních areálů
Štěpánková, Lenka
Large exhibition centres in European cities represent a specific type of urban space with their own unique parameters. Whilst formal parameters deal with scale and form, functional parameters pertain mainly to logistics and the operating of the venue. In this paper, other important parameters are included with those already referenced. Financial parameters such as the total exhibition area available, total build up area and total venue area are combined. The results speak about a venues capacity or their spatial potential and can be used to predict the need for further transformation or relocation of the certain venue in the future.
TRANSFORMATION OF THE POST-INDUSTRIAL AREA OF MODETA JIHLAVA
Fojtová, Lucie ; Štěpánková, Lenka (referee) ; Havliš, Karel (advisor)
The subject of this thesis is an architectural and urbanistic study of the transformation of the textile factory Modeta in Jihlava. The result is the design of a multifunctional social facility and its integration into the so-called Stříbrné údolí (Silver Valley) site and the overall urban structure of Jihlava. The proposal is divided into two main stages in connection with the city’s current needs. The first stage uses existing premises without major construction interventions and investments. The second stage deals with the detailed design of the multifunctional building and the urban design of the site, particularly in relation to the nearby zoological garden.
Prostorové kvality výstavních areálů v České republice
Štěpánková, Lenka
The five most important exhibition grounds in the Czech Republic were analysed to discover how their spatial layouts are related to the type of the venue and its connection to the city. Apart from the function and space structure, the historical development, legal status and ownership as well as planning issues were taken into account as they can help to explain specific traits of some of the exhibition grounds and obvious differences between them. During the process emphasis was on the use of open source data so the analysis can be repeated in future with the results being either verified or refined, and so the research can possibly be extended to exhibition grounds in other European cities.
Evaluation of smoking prevalence in patients with Schizophrenia and Depression and the use of ambulance for treatment of tobacco addiction in Bohnice psychiatric hospital.
Havlíková, Petra ; Štěpánková, Lenka (advisor) ; Drbohlavová, Barbora (referee)
Background: The link between psychiatric disorders and smoking is a topic that has only begun the past few years ago. Many studies have shown a high prevalence of smokers among patients with psychiatric disorders which is roughly two or three times higher than in the general population. Despite this phenomenon, the smoking of patients with this diagnosis in the Czech Republic, especially in institutional care, is rather overlooked and often even encouraged. So far, there has been no uniform approach by staff to introduce the necessary, systematic programs, interventions, and smoking cessation training. Staff in these institutions often rely on the belief that these patients are not interested in professional help. Objective: The main objective of the research was to determine the prevalence of smoking in Bohnice Psychiatric Hospital in patients with schizophrenia and depression. The partial objective was to find out whether, and what intervention is provided by staff and what is the interest of patients in quitting smoking. Another aim of the work was to find access of healthcare professionals and patients to smoking cessation intervention in the hospital and then to check the current use of smoking cessation help at Bohnice Psychiatric Hospital. Methodology: A questionnaire survey was conducted...
CHANGE OF THE AREA OF BRNO FAIRS / Transformation of the western part of the complex /
Bauer, Karel ; Štěpánková, Lenka (referee) ; Havliš, Karel (advisor)
Brno trade fairs are the heart of Central Europe for exhibitions of everything interesting for already more than 90 years. Nevertheless, the most valuable exhibits are the urban and architectural values of the complex, which are reflecting the development of modern Czech architecture. Even after years of development, it is still necessary to look to the future, to solve the coming problems of generosity, to keep the high level of the area, to support its function and to keep legacy of the fairs for the next generation. As the main happenings moves further from the city centre, the issue is still more up to date on how to handle the west side of this area. In my work, I set out clearly the future urban planning of the trade fairs and divide the various functions into logically integrated areas. In the west part, I am creating a new administrative centre with a lot of other associated services. The basic idea is to create a permanent supporting superstructure, into which the variable function is inserted. I take advantage of the basic principles of smart city, flexibility and the versatility of buildings. To achieve a good connection of the complex with the surrounding area, I maintain the existing transport connections and make new possibilities of movement through the complex and the surrounding areas. This creates a new modern part of the complex, which could evolve over time based on the needs and requirements of its users.
