Occurance and Transmission of COVID-19 among Healthcare workers
Dvončová, Kristína ; Malinová, Jana (advisor) ; Smejkal, Petr (referee)
Healthcare professionals have been considered since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic as high risk group of population due to their work. Healthcare professionals have faced many risk factors in the work environment, that have had a negative impact on their physical and mental health, reducing their quality of life. The Master's thesis evaluated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on various aspects of the health of health care workers depending on selected socio-economic parameters through a questionnaire survey. The subject of the Master's thesis research was also the risk of nosocomial transmission of COVID-19 infection to health care workers. The analysis found that health care for patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection is provided the most common by medical doctors. However, workers working in other medical positions and other facility workers have the highest odds of becoming infected. It was also found that healthcare professionals had a different approach to the use of PPE during high-risk contact with a co-worker or patient who was confirmed to have COVID-19. The results of the thesis describe the risk factors of the work environment of health professionals, which affect the risk of infection, the severity of the disease and the state of mental health. Key words: COVID-19,...
The position of the chemical experiment at the time of ICT - aluminum and its compounds
Sloup, Radovan ; Čipera, Jan (advisor) ; Havlíček, David (referee) ; Šmejkal, Petr (referee)
The main goal of the thesis is to describe a position of the real experiment in chemistry at the beginning of the 21 century and to contribute to solution of speculations if this didactic tool is or is not at current schools such a rarity as it's often described. The starting point of the thesis is extensive research of the literature related to history of natural science literacy which is condition not only for the right experiment interpretation but also of its suitable usage in the lessons. The theoretical part observes also the ensuring of the chemical experiment in the curricular documents and its position in the chemistry teaching in recent past. The experiment is a dynamic visualia therefore the visualias are classified in particular part of the thesis and their occurrence and function are described - in today's information society, chemistry textbooks, as a part of hypermedia programs for chemistry teaching and in lessons in general. The thesis focuses partly on hypermedia programs, especially then on materials for chemistry teaching that proved to be helpful in e-learning. Through the questionnaire inquiry at primary and secondary schools in Czech Republic were discovered not merely material also personal options of the schools and chemistry teachers in relation to the experiment...
Application of vibrational spectroscopy in the study of violacein pigment
Váňová, Hana ; Němec, Ivan (advisor) ; Šmejkal, Petr (referee)
This thesis deals with the study of microbial pigment violacein in the real sample of lyophilized microorganisms. The sample was investigated by using methods of vibrational spectroscopy with focusing on the applicability of surface enhanced and resonance micro-Raman spectroscopy. For this purpose several different systems for enhancing Raman intensity together with the set of excitation lasers emitting in the visible light region were used. The conclusion of this thesis are the recommendations connected with the appropriateness of using each amplifying systems and excitation wavelengths for the successful identification of violacein pigment in the sample. Preparation and testing of silver immobilized nanoparticles for SERS spectroscopy of biomolecules
Molnár, Peter ; Procházka, Marek (advisor) ; Šmejkal, Petr (referee)
Main goal of this work was to develop methodology of immobilization of silver nanoparticles to silanized glass plates and employment of these substrates in biomolecular study using surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). The suitable substrates for SERS spectroscopy, borohydride-reduced colloidal nanoparticles immobilized by mercapto- or aminosilane, have been found. Good SERS spectra of positively charged TMPyP porphyrin as well as of water insoluble TPP porphyrin (without interference of the solvent) have been obtained. Our results clearly show, that our substrates provide unique possibility how to measure SERS spectra of the porphyrins in his native free-base form (what is impossible directly from the colloid). Further experiments confirm that the porphyrins are protected against metalation due to the presence of the silane employed for the silver particles immobilization.
Selection and development of educational materials for high school support webpage www.studiumchemie.cz
Zaspalová, Jana ; Šmejkal, Petr (advisor) ; Petrželová, Simona (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with selection, design and creation of new education materials for high school teacher supporting webpage www.studiumchemie.cz. The selection of the proper theme was done on the basis of research and evaluation of recent materials on the mentioned webpage and materials created at the Department of chemical education of Faculty of Science of Charles University in Prague. Preliminarily, the themes of synthetic macromolecular materials and new materials were selected. The convenience of the selected themes was confirmed by research and evaluation concerned to the preliminarily selected theme of recent high school textbooks and webpages. Consequently, educational materials in the form of PowerPoint presentations, websites, worksheets, tests, games and experiments focused on the themes of synthetic macromolecular substances and new materials were created. Materials were processed in accordance with the Framework Education Programme for Secondary General Education (Grammar Schools) as well as in accordance with the requirements of the Catalogue of graduation exam requirements from chemistry. The PowerPoint presentation and the webpage on synthetic macromolecular materials were roughly evaluated by group of teachers and the results of the evaluation are also part of the thesis....

Case study of a patient with hemorrhagic stroke in cerebellum
Alharthi, Faisal Fahad M ; Maršáková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Smejkal, Petr (referee)
Physiotherapeutic case study of hemorrhagic stroke in the cerebellum with hemiplegia patient as bachelor thesis is provided for you to show the full kiensiological assessment, special therapy approaches and therapy effect during 9 sessions. The farther goal of this thesis is to explain the clinical picture, physiological, biomechanics points of view. During my clinical practice, we used the main structure for the Kinesiological assessment according to the Prague School approaches. Manual muscle testing according to Kendall and Janda were used also. Due to the instructions and the protocols from the UVN hospital in Prague the main therapy concept was following " Grasies Concept" for stroke patients. Finally, we applied final kinesiological assessment to compare the patient situation before and after the therapy with focusing on the "Grasies Concept" effect. As a result of our work we found that the "Gracies concept" shows a great result in spastic pattern prevention more on the lower extremity. However, significant improvement in patient stability and verticalization ability which influence the improvement in ADL scale results. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Role of Experiments in Chemical Education at Waldorf Lyceum Compared to "Ordinary" Gymnasium in the Czech Republic
Studničková, Zuzana ; Šmejkal, Petr (advisor) ; Stratilová Urválková, Eva (referee)
4 Abstract This bachelor thesis examines the role of experiments in Chemistry lessons at Waldorf schools and roughly compares the approach towards their implementation into lessons at Waldorf schools and selected secondary schools (gymnasia) in the Czech Republic. The first part is dedicated to the description of Waldorf school specifics. The second part gives results of a general survey focused on the ways of use and frequency of experiments at selected secondary schools in the Czech Republic. Results of this survey and visits to laboratory practicals at one high school were confronted and discussed in contrast with results of inspections of classes at two Waldorf schools; Waldorf Lyceum in Prague and Primary and Secondary Waldorf School in Semily. Approaches to experiments at both types of schools are compared and arguments for and against are given. On the whole we can say that Waldorf schools take experiments (demonstrations) as an integral part of every Chemistry lesson and are essential for Chemistry education. However laboratory practicals are rare and the amount of information in lessons is smaller than at ordinary secondary schools observed. On the contrary, at ordinary secondary schools, demonstrations are less common and very often experiments are not included in Chemistry lessons, but separated...
