REVOLUTIONARY YEARS 1956 AND 1968 IN DANISH PERSPECTIVE. THE INFLUENCE OF THE MASS MEDIA ON PERCEPTION OF EVENTS IN THE EASTERN BLOC.

The thesis analyzes the view of two major Danish daily newspapers Berlingske Tidende and Politiken, the events in the Eastern Bloc in letetch 1956 and 1968, thus the Poznan workers' uprising and Hungarian Revolution in 1956 and the invasion of Czechoslovakia to suppress the Prague Spring in 1968. Based on this analysis then tries to outline how the attitude of Danish society to communism and the Eastern bloc were changing and how media had influenced it. London and Paris: The Influence of the so called "Americanization" on West European Metropolises in the 1920s

(English) The aim of the thesis is to analyze socio-cultural changes which affected France and Great Britain during 1920s. By examples of two West European Metropolises - London and Paris - are studied causes and effects of dynamic character of the time after the World War I, which was influenced by the role of the United States of America. The post-war influence of the USA, more precisely Americans, in Europe caused enthusiasm, as well as fear of the so- called Americanization. The French and the British, during "les Années folles" or "Roaring Twenties" had to deal with economic and political problems; societies in both countries changed the lifestyle permanently. Besides other things, modern way of life brought about the consumer culture, the emancipation of women and new way of spending of leisure time (including sport activities and visiting cinemas). Jazz set musical rhythm of the interwar period and George Gershwin became one of the important personalities of popular and classical music.
The Role of Western Europe in U.S. Security Policy in the years 1945-1950

This thesis deals with the foreign and security policy of the United States of America towards Western Europe between 1945-1950. One of the main objectives is the analysis of the importance and role of Western Europe (mainly Great Britain, France, the countries of Benelux and Italy) in the security policy of the United States of Americe from the end of the Second World War to the outbreak of the Korean War. The thesis will not forget to mention why the United States became actively involved in the matter of European security after the Second World War. Furthermore, the thesis will focus on the beginnings of NATO and various problems connected to its actions between 1949-1950. Moreover, the discussed issue will be put into a larger context of the political development in post-war Western Europe and the approaching Cold War.
The Emergence of Independent Self-Governing Trades Union "Solidarity" in Poland 1980 - 1981

The thesis analyzes the formation of the trade union movement "Solidarity" in the context of social protests against the communist regime in post-war Poland. It examines the social- political causes of the emergence, internal structure and activity of the independent trade union from August 1980 to December 1981. Max Egon zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg and Czechoslovakia

The thesis analyses prince Max Egon Hohenlohe-Langenburg's relationship to Czechoslovak Republic from its origin to year 1945. It focuses on the issues of prince's role in Czechoslovak politics and his attitudes to all the situations which affected the aristocracy in the 20th century in ČSR - land reform, Sudeten crisis and postwar turn of events. In the first chapter the thesis concentrates on foundation of ČSR and its impact on aristocracy and thus also on prince Max Egon at the time. The second chapter deals with consequences of land reform on property of Hohenlohe-Langenburg's House, the third chapter is about Sudeten German crisis and prince Max Egon's role in it. The last chapter shows aristocracy's situation after year 1945. The author comes to conclusion that the personality of prince Max Egon was very ambiguous - he always tried to get on well with everybody in effort to gain personal profit, and for fear that he could not keep his property in the extent that he had had since the time Hohenlohe- Langenburg's family settled down in current Czech border. The Irish Emigration in the Middle Europe and the Family of Taafe

The work is focused on the fate of Irish emigration to Central Europe (the Habsburg monarchy) during the 16th and 17th centuries and its subsequent fate in this region. Particular attention is paid to the family of the Counts Taaffe, who especially in the 19th century significantly influenced politics in the Austrian Empire. Irish emigration in the 17th and 18th century can be divided into three major waves. The first hit after the defeat of Ireland Ulster insurgents in Kinsale. Local elites were not willing to accept a subordinate position and four years after the signing of. Mellifontské contract went 30 September 1607 more than ninety Ulstr for the most important nobles in exile. This "escape poke" had far-reaching consequences for Ireland and has contributed greatly to the realization of England's plans. The second and most extensive emigration met Ireland after the Armistice in Kilkeny in May 1652, ie during the era of Oliver Cromwel. The third wave of emigration then caused the victory of William of Orange over James II. in the battle of the Boyne in 1690 and Aughrimu the 1691. Most Irish emigrants resorted to the Catholic powers, particularly Spain, France and Austria. They can be roughly divided into three groups. Reflexion of Pol Pot's Regime in Communist Czechoslovakia

This diploma thesis at first analyzes the brutal regime in Cambodia beetween the years 1975-1979. The goal for the readers is briefly to describe this Khmer Rouge regime. It was inhuman and genocide regime which, after taking control of this land began to implement a huge social experiment. This experiment resulted into two milions deads. One half of the diseases, overwork and starvation, one half of the executions. The purpose of this big disaster was a attempt to put this southeast Asia land into self-sufficiency agriculture state. This situation was a work of a small group of people. The main of them was o Pol Pot. In the second part diploma describes a reflection of this regime in communist Czechoslovakia. This part is based on the research in newspapers of this era and research in archive of Ministry of external affairs. The regime in Czechoslovakia was a communist and very conform to foreign policy of the Soviet Union. So the articles in the communist press was not the official statepoint of Czechoslovak govement. At first the governement was a very happy of winning the new regime, because the previous Lon Nol's was very fixed to the United States. Archdukess Eleonora and Alfons von Kloss

This thesis deals with the morganatic marriage of archdukess Eleonora and naval officer Alfons von Kloss in 1913, which was the first marriage of a Habsburg archdukess with a member of lower nobility. It focuses mainly on the analysis of the Imperial Austrian Family Statute and moganatic marriages of the Habsburg-Lorraine family. Furthermore, it deals with the Habsburgs of Austria-Teschen and the analysis of the Eleonora's marriage. Building Activity of Jan Rudolf Chotek in the Domain of Nové Dvory

The theme of this thesis is the building activity of Jan Rudolf Chotek in the region of Nové Dvory. The main attention is paid to the classicist château of Ka ina, to the process of its construction, its appearance, inner structure and both of its pavilions which contain the library, the theatre and the incomplete chapel. A large park in English style is covered as well as some of interesting landscape components inside. The attention is paid to some other building projects of count Chotek which are not as important as Ka ina chateau but they help to create a picture of the count in his role of enthusiastic constructor. The chapter about the development of the family of Chotek cannot be eliminated, because it shows an environment which Jan Rudolf came from. The chapter about the history of the region of Nové Dvory is important too because it influenced Jan Rudolf and inspired him to his building activities. The task of this thesis is to introduce Jan Rudolf Chotek as a constructor with a compact conception which he realized for all his life.
The Nuremberg Trial and Czechoslovakia

This bachelor thesis is focused on the analysis of the Nuremberg Trial and its con- nection to the history of Czechoslovakia. In the introduction dediated the author on attitudes of particular powers leading to the establishment of the International Military Tribunal and their common negotiations. The author's goal was to make a complex, and if possible objecti- ve, view of the trial, that is why she applied her mind to work of prosecution teams and also work difficulties of the German defense as well. The main part of the thesis regards German aggressive plans against Czechoslovakia and the Czech indictment against former Reich Pro- tector Constantin von Neurath. The author analysed so called Hossbach's Protocol and a plan of the operation Fall Grün ("Plan Green"). The author also focused on a role of the Sudeten German Party in ruining the Czechoslovakian State and on the establishment of the Protecto- rate Bohemia and Moravia. In case of Constantin von Neurath the author focused on partly the Czech indictment and its detailed analysis, partly on Bering Neurath at the Trial and his cross examination. The analysis of charges against next former Reich Protector Wilhelm Frick a his behaving at the Trial follows.
