Nuclear power plants and their safety
Novotný, Petr ; Köbölová, Klaudia (referee) ; Milčák, Pavel (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the current state of nuclear energetics. It describes the development of nuclear power plants to date and specifically describes the most commonly used types of nuclear reactors. Most of the reactors currently in operation are second generation reactors. However, a number of third-generation reactors with improved technological and safety parameters are already under construction. Improved safety lies in the improvement of active safety systems, but also in the increased use of passive safety systems. The paper concludes with a comparison of specific solutions from the most important nuclear reactor manufacturers in the world.
Modelling the Oil Lubrication System of Turbocharger
Breckl, Lukáš ; Hliník, Juraj (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
The diploma thesis contains a research part focused on turbocharger construction, engine lubrication system and turbocharger, basic physical properties of lubricating oils and hydrodynamics. The purpose of this thesis is to create analytical and CFD computational model of turbocharger lubrication system. Output pressures and the loss of specific energy are determined.
Lubricant Gap Shape Optimization of the Hydrodynamic Thrust Bearing
Ochulo, Ikechi ; Vacula, Jiří (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
The objective of this Master's thesis is to find, using genetic algorithm (GA), an optimal profile for lubricating gap of a thrust bearing of a turbocharger. Compared to the analytical profile, the optimal profile is expected to have minimized friction for an equivalent load capacity. Friction minimization is one way to increase the efficiency of the thrust bearing; it reduces the friction losses in the bearing. An initial problem was given: a thrust bearing with Load capacity 1000 N, inner and outer radii of 30mm and 60mm respectively, rotor speed of 45000 rpm and angle of running surface of $0.5^0$. Lubricant properties were also provided for the initial problem: oil density of $ 840 kg/m^3$, dynamic viscosity $(\eta)$ of 0.01 Pa.s With this data, the numerical solution of the Reynolds equation was computed using MATLAB. To obtain more information, the minimum lubricating gap thickness was also computed using MATLAB. With this information, the shape of the analytical profile, and its characteristics were found. The analytical profile was then used a guide to create a general profile. The general profile thus obtained is then optimized using GA. The characteristics of the generated profile is then computed and compared to that of the analytical profile.
Design of Turbocharger Bearing for Low Viscosity Oils
Plánka, Jakub ; Dlugoš, Jozef (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
The first part of the thesis describes journal bearings characteristics, their function and lubrication. The second part of the thesis is about a rotor-dynamics issue and how to use numerical and experimental methods for verification of a new bearing design. The practical part of the thesis is focused on analyse a current design of bearings in MBS. In the last part has been made and verified a new bearing design.
Over-expanded internal-combustion engines
Novotný, Pavel ; Janoušek, Michal (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
At the beginning there is a short history of over-expanded engines. Subsequently, the thermodynamics of ideal over-expanded cycles are analysed and compared with the ideal Otto cycle. The thesis also deals with some design solutions for achieving over-expansion in an internal combustion engine. In the thesis there are also selected over-expanded engines from leading world carmakers. At the end the thesis deals with systems with variable compression ratio.
Design of Car Initiator
Suchý, Jan ; Píštěk, Václav (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is focused on proposal solution of automotive initiator construction and design. The proposal is being carried out with regard to the need to ensure the maximum functionality of the whole element. As for the choice of materials and used technology the costs and procedures commonly used today are not being taken into account. The main objective is to eliminate the shortcomings of current automotive initiators and the proposal of technological procedures in the production of a new component.
Cranktrain Design of Aircraft Diesel Engine
Josefíková, Kateřina ; Píštěk, Václav (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
The purpose of this thesis is design of a crank mechanism for diesel aircraft engine. Next then appropriately balance crank mechanism, strength tests and calculation of crankshaft torsional vibration. Developing of drawings documentation of crankshaft.
Web Services Security for a Service Consumer
Novotný, Petr ; Weiss, Petr (referee) ; Rychlý, Marek (advisor)
The objective of this project was to introduce to a reader different possibilities of a web security and its authentication. Another part of this project was to create a client application communicates with the web service. The client part should at the some time serve the web services developer for checking chosen web securities.
Energy Recovery from Exhaust Gases in an Electric-assisted Turbocharger for Hybrid Vehicles
Cranktrain with High Mechanical Efficiency
Krajči, Jakub ; Raffai, Peter (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
This master's thesis is concerned with the mechanical efficiency of cranktrain contact pairs in a combustion engine. In the introductory part, the fundamental terminology relating to the cranktrain is presented along with the specification of the areas of mechanical losses, greasing modes and types of wear. The following chapters describe the possibilities of eliminating mechanical losses of the cranktrain and the calculation methods that can be utilized to mathematically solve mechanical losses. The practical part includes the proposal of a calculation model and its use in the analysis of the cranktrain of Skoda 1.2 HTP engine. The last part of this thesis comprises modified alternatives of the standard cranktrain focusing on the elimination of mechanical losses. The evaluation of the results is presented in the conclusion of this thesis.
