Prison Privatization in the United States: The Limits and Consequences of the Transfer of Public Power into Private Hands

The thesis Prison Privatization in the United States: The Limits and Consequences of the Transfer of Public Power into Private Hands analyzes selected consequences of prison privatization in the United States. Although the prison privatization in the US is considered a modern phenomenon, the private sector was involved in corrections from the very early history of the US. Therefore, the thesis introduces the history and philosophy of private sector involvement in corrections. The thesis then examines the factors that led to the decision to privatize prisons, namely overcrowding of prisons, other political factors, and so-called PIE-program that enabled interstate trade with prisoner-made goods. Further, it provides detailed statistics to illustrate the steep rise in the prison population. It also addresses the question of cost-savings and efficiency and it provides examples of specific factors that influence economic performance of private prisons. Important part is dedicated to the growth of prison-industrial complex characterized by the overlapping interests of bureaucracy, politicians and private prison companies that lead to increased pressure to maintain or increase the prison population. The thesis Prison Privatization in the United States: The Limits and Consequences of the Transfer of Public Power into Private Hands analyzes selected consequences of prison privatization in the United States. Barack Obama's Efforts to Reduce the Influence of Lobbyists and Interests Groups on Federal Government

Bachelor thesis Barack Obama's Efforts to Reduce the Influence of Lobbyists and Interests Groups on Federal Government deals with Barack Obama efforts to reduce the influence of lobbyists and interests groups in regards with federal government rulings. First of all it explains that lobbying is protected by the First Amendment of the US Constitution which implies freedom of speech. Although lobbying has been regulated ever since the 19th century, the first important federal law was not enacted until 1945 when Federal Regulation of Lobbying Act came into force. The main part of the thesis concentrates on the person of Barack Obama and his actions and initiatives concerning federal lobbying regulations. During his term in US Senate was Obama leading person in promoting the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007. After that, on his first day as a president Obama signed First Executive Order which was supposed to close revolving door between the government and the private sector. In the last part, it analysis problematic parts of reform and gives possible solutions.

Práce hodnotí finanční situaci výrobního podniku Mora Aerospace, a.s. pomocí základních metod finanční analýzy za čtyři účetní období roku 2002-2005. Dále se zaměřuje na odůvodnění výsledné hodnoty výsledku hospodaření, analýzu výkazu zisku a ztráty a analýzu majetku a jeho zdrojů financování. Dělí se na dvě části. teoretická část se zaměřuje na metody finanční analýzy a praktická část tyto metody aplikuje. Celkově práce hodnotí finanční zdraví podniku.

Svou bakalářskou práci jsem zaměřila na zpracování finanční analýzy stavební společnosti Š+H Bohunice, s.r.o.. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí - teoretické a praktické. Teorietická část obsahuje teoretické poznatky o finanční analýze získané z odborné literatury. V praktické části jsou teoretické poznatky aplikovány na výše zmíněnou společnost. Mnou zpracovaná finanční analýza obsahuje analýzu absolutních ukazatelů, relativních ukazatelů, ukazatele komplexního zhodnocení, porovnání získaných hodnot s průměrnými hodnotami v odvětví a mezipodnikové srovnání.

Pro hodnocení využívám jak absolutních ukazatelů, bilančních pravidel tak i poměrových ukazatelů, ukazatele čistého pracovního kapitálu, ukazatele EVA, Altmanovu analýzu, Index IN 99, Du Pontova rozkladu ROE, Rychlý test Kralicek i mezipodnikové srovnávání.

Cieľom finančnej analýzy je poskytnúť detailný obraz o hospodárení podniku a zhodnotiť jeho finančnú kondíciu v období rokov 2002 až 2006. Finančná analýza identifikuje silné a slabé stránky podniku a jej výsledky sú dôležitým podkladom pre manažérov pri strategickom rozhodovaní o investíciách či financovaní.
