Comparison of Stocks of Selected Tobacco Companies to Complement the Hedge Fund Portfolio

This bachelor thesis focuses on complementing the portfolio of a hedge fund focused on the consumer industry with some of the stocks of the tobacco industry, according to the requirements of the management and the statute of the fund. The first chapter summarizes the theoretical and legal aspects of funds with a closer focus on hedge funds. Next, stock companies, fundamental and financial analyses are mentioned, after which methods of comparing companies and, last but not least, bankruptcy models are also defined. In the practical part of the thesis, the fund statute is first defined, according to which companies are selected, and then subjected to financial analysis and compared with each other with regard to the results. These companies are finally verified by the bankruptcy model. At the very end of the thesis, according to the results of the analysis, a customized solution of completing the hedge fund portfolio is made up.

The subject of the bachelor thesis is the creation of proposal to supplement investment portfolio of sector focused Exchange Traded Fund with direct replication with stocks traded on NYSE according to the requirements of the fund management. The content of the theoretical part of the bachelor thesis is description of its theoretical and legal background. The analytical part consists of the primary selection of companies, their analysis, comparison and verification. In conclusion the proposal to supplement investment portfolio of ETF is presented to the fund management.
Proposal for Expansion of the Portfolio of an Exchange Traded Fund with European Technology Stocks

This diploma thesis deals with expansion of the ETF portfolio in order to meet the requirements of the fund while complying with their valid statue. The first part of the work is theoretical research of all discussed concepts, methods and indicators used in other parts of the work. In the practical part, indicators of companies are analyzed, then they are compared with each other and then verified using a bankruptcy model. Based on the above, a proposal is then presented to expand the ETF with specifically selected shares of the analyzed companies.
Extension Proposal for Investment Portfolio of Hedge Fund

The bachelor's thesis focuses on a comprehensive analysis of American technology sector companies to determine which ones are suitable for expanding the investment portfolio of a hedge fund. The theoretical section describes issues related to investing in equity and funds and outlines the relevant legal aspects under Czech law. Additionally, this section defines the methodological approaches used, which include financial analysis, a scoring method for inter-company comparisons with differentiated weights, and the Altman’s Z-score bankruptcy model, which assesses the solvency of publicly traded companies. In the practical section, these methods are applied to selected companies. The company selection process, including the fund management conditions and the definition of fund regulations, is detailed at the beginning of this section. Based on the evaluation of the results, an investment recommendation for expanding the hedge fund is presented at the conclusion.

The thesis on "Investment portfolio and its creation" focuses on the application of fundamental analysis, the output of which is the creation of a stock portfolio suitable for the profile of a retail investor with a value approach. The companies analyzed are listed on the US stock exchanges and are classified in the technology sector. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the definition of the theoretical background related to the issue of investment portfolio creation and fundamental analysis. The analytical part of the thesis is devoted to the development of the necessary analyses, which subsequently lead to the calculation of the intrinsic value of the selected companies based on the FCFE model. The results are then compared and evaluated using the scoring method of cross-company comparison. The final part of the thesis is devoted to the elaboration of investment recommendations for the client.

The bachelor thesis focuses its attention on the development of a proposal to supplement the investment portfolio of the hedge fund of by shares of the technology sector. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the possible functioning of hedge funds in the contemporary conditions of the Czech Republic, including a description of investment funds and legal aspects. The following section focuses on investing in shares and financial analysis, where an analysis of ratios, methods of intercompany comparisons are presented together with bankruptcy models. The beginning of the practical part is devoted to fund status and primary company selection. Suitable companies are further subjected to financial analysis, intercompany comparisons, and bankruptcy models. The conclusion of the practical part lies in the distribution of individual companies into the portfolio of the hedge fund, according to the results analyses achieved.

This bachelor thesis deals with the financial analysis of joint-stock companies that fall into the technology sector in order to develop a proposal to supplement the investment portfolio of the hedge fund. The first part, which is theoretical, explains the theoretical and legal aspects of a hedge fund and the basic concepts related to investing in stocks, last but not least, the methods of financial analysis are described. The practical part is followed by the initial selection of stock titles according to management requirements. The selected companies are then subjected to financial analysis and based on the results of the financial analysis, the companies are compared with each other and later verified using a bankruptcy model. From this, a proposal to supplement the investment portfolio of the hedge fund will be made.

Selection and Analysis of a Company for Strategic Acquisition by Foreign Investor.

The thesis focuses on the selection of a potential acquisition target based in the Czech Republic for a strategic foreign investor. In the introduction of the thesis, the basic literature sources are described, from which each subsequent part of the thesis is developed. Initially, companies are selected on the basis of established criteria, analysed by financial analysis indicators, verified by a bankruptcy model for bankruptcy risk and ranked by financial performance. Subsequently, the selected companies are valued. According to the results obtained, a proposal for a buyout of the company in question is formulated, including the basic parameters of an indicative offer.
