Jiráková, Anna Aleksandra ; Göpfertová, Dana (advisor) ; Dohnal, Karel (referee) ; Pospíšilová, Alena (referee)
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is one of the most common childhood inflammatory skin diseases. As a chronic disease it can have a physical and psychological effect on the social functioning of the affected child as well as his family. The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality of life (QoL) of children with AD and their families. A total of 636 children with the diagnosis of AD and naevi, aged from newborns to 18 years and 636 of their parents took part in our study. All participants, according to their age, completed the questionnaires: Infants' Dermatitis Quality of Life Index (IDQOL), Childrens' Dermatology Life Quality Index (CDLQI)- text and cartoon version and Dermatitis Family Impact Questionnaire (DFI). We gained statistically significant differences in the mean scores between children with the diagnosis of AD and children with the diagnosis naevi. We also gained differences of mean scores in different age groups of patients with AD. The highest and statistically proven score was in the oldest group of children with AD (9,85) then in the group from 7 to 13 years (8,33) and the lowest in the group of children from newborns to 6 years (7,84). Question with the highest score in all age groups of children with AD was the question about: "itching and scratching". There was also proven an influence...
Methods of evaluation of microclimate conditions and light in students dormitory - comparison of new and old building
Cechel, Zbyszek ; Holcátová, Ivana (advisor) ; Dohnal, Karel (referee)
In my Bachelor Thesis I will deal with the evaluation of microclimatic conditions and artificial lighting in various rooms at two halls of residence. This evaluation concerns the following rooms: students' rooms, studies, halls, kitchens and bathrooms. Microclimate oriented measuring primarily includes ambient temperature, mean radiation temperature (globe temperature), air circulation rate and air humidity. I measured all these four parameters separately in each room. Upon the basis of these four main parameters and using a computer programme, I calculated other secondary microclimatic parameters which also participate in the overall microclimatic condition in a room and which must therefore by no means be disregarded. These particular parameters are stated below in the practical section as part of the individual evaluation of each measured room. The theoretical section of the Thesis also contains formulas which may be used for the calculation of the specific and exact value of a parameter which we may require by virtue of other data concerning or resulting from other microclimatic findings. In addition, I used the programme to calculate the recommended values (limits) of some of these parameters which should not be exceeded in any circumstances. In the event of their exceeding the set limits, the most...
preventive and diagnostic methods concerning civilization diseases - importance according to supplementation of vitamin D
Čepová, Jana ; Dohnal, Karel (advisor) ; Trč, Tomáš (referee) ; Jeníček, Jaroslav (referee) ; Vyskočil, Václav (referee)
Osteoporosis belongs between the most common civilization diseases. Insufficient vitamin D supplementation attributes to pathogenesis of the illness. Aim of the study was vitamin D levels monitorning in both healthy population and vitamin D treated patients. I have proved deficit of vitamin D at these patiens, over recommended dosage of vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency starts to be probably more serious problem than ever before. Therefore is necessary to focuse on sufficient supplementation of this vitamin as well as a further education through all population. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Perception of the health risks resulting from health, lifestyle and professional strain of teachers of various school levels
Papršteinová, Markéta ; Šmejkalová, Jindra (advisor) ; Hrubá, Drahoslava (referee) ; Dohnal, Karel (referee)
Perception of health risks from lifestyle and work psychic load of teachers from different school levels Introduction: It is well known that the teaching profession is associated with numerous health risks. Teachers are exposed to excessive mental work and sensory stress, long working in a forced position at increased risk of noise, infections and voice disorders. Compared with the general population, there are more frequently found diseases related to occupational stress. Aim: To determine the perception of health risks arising from particular health state, lifestyle and workload of teachers from different school levels. Methods: In the context of cross-sectional epidemiological study we used an anonymous questionnaire enquiry to obtained data from 484 respondents, ranging from 201 primary school teachers, 227 teachers of secondary schools and 56 university teachers. We have investigated the presence of risk factors and their perception by teachers with regard to the school level, age and gender of the respondents. Working psychological stress was assessed by Meister questionnaire. Results: We found that many respondents were exposed to several risk factors simultaneously. Most often it was a serious illness in close relatives, and increased mental work load. This was increasingly exposed...

Dolejší, Simona ; Marádová, Eva (advisor) ; Dohnal, Karel (referee)
- 9 - ABSTRACT: The bachelor thesis deals with obesity in a multi-generational family. Strives to characterize and analyze the progress of the disease, to map other health complications that accompany obesity, outline ways to reduce the weight and try to analyze the causes of occurrence in the selected family. In the theoretical part is used the method of expert analysis of literature. The experimental part includes case studies of five members of the selected family, which contain basic personal data, personal and family medical history, energy calculations, weight changes with charts and sample menus with the evaluation. The obtained data were processed and analyzed using the energy calculator. The results showed deficiencies in diet and low physical activity for all members of the selected family. In conclusion, I can say that the cause of obesity in this case can be found in takeover of the life style. KEYWORDS: obesity, body weight, complication of health, menu, diet
Nutritional status of the institutionalized elderly in North Bohemia
Zemanová, Miroslava ; Rambousková, Jolana (advisor) ; Pavlík, Vladimír (referee) ; Dohnal, Karel (referee)
Nutritional status is an important characteristic of human health. It is especially important for vulnerable groups of population, such as senior citizens. The study provides a description and evaluation of the nutritional status of the institutionalized elderly in three retirement homes in three different North Bohemian towns (Teplice, Most, and Dubí). Inclusion criteria for the study restricted the sample to those aged 65 or over and without any acute illness or catabolic diseases, including cancer. Fifty percent of the residents living in each retirement home were examined. The sample comprised of 254 participants (183 females and 71 males). Data was collected from each facility in cooperation with the head nurse, and information related to the participant medical conditions and medications was obtained from personal medical histories. A MNA (Mini Nutritional Assessment) was used to evaluate the nutritional condition of respondents. Blood samples were taken to detect the markers of malnutrition (albumin, prealbumin, transferin, urea, and creatinine). The data was statistically analysed using the Fishers exact two-sided test and the Chi square test of independence. P values ≤0.05 were accepted as statistically significant. According to the results of MNA, 38.8% of respondents were in a good...
Possibilities of prevention reflecting geriatric principles: Functional status and depressivity in old age
Vaňková, Hana ; Čelko, Alexander (advisor) ; Dohnal, Karel (referee) ; Jirák, Roman (referee)
Possibilities of prevention reflecting geriatric principles: Functional status and depressivity in old age Hana Vaňková, MD Abstract Background: Given the population ageing in Europe and in the Czech Republic, strategies aiming to prevent functional decline in older age are of great importance. Depression in old age increases functional decline and is also associated with increased morbidity, mortality and deterioration of quality of life (Anstey et al., 2007; Karakaya et al., 2009). Therefore, there is a need for a comprehensive intervention addressing both functional status and depressive symptoms. Methods: Using comprehensive geriatric assessment, the relationship between functional status and depressive symptoms was examined in 308 residents of long-term care facilities (RCFs) in the Czech Republic. Depressive symptoms were measured using the 15-item Geriatric Depression Scale. An additional randomized control trial (RCT) evaluated the effect of a dance-based therapy on depressive symptoms in 162 institutionalized older adults with average age over 80 years. Results: A multiple regression analyses adjusted for sociodemographic factors and for taking antidepressants found that cognitive function and functional limitation by pain were most strongly associated with depressive symptoms. The ability to...
