How pupils perceive their bodies during puberty

This thesis deals with the topic of the human body, its perception and self-assessment in adolescent girls and boys at the second stage of primary school, more precisely in pupils of the sixth and ninth grades. The aim of the thesis is to explore the issue from, for example, a psychological or historical perspective. Furthermore, to assess the subjective perception of the body during puberty in selected pupils of the second grade of primary school. At the same time, to compare the differences in the perception of one's own body between boys and girls and between sixth and ninth grades. At the same time to find out whether there is a noticeable difference between the pupils and whether they are satisfied with their bodies or not. Subsequently, to uncover possible causes of body dissatisfaction among adolescents and to find factors that may influence self-acceptance. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The theoretical part discusses the topic of adolescence and its characteristics, as well as, for example, self-concept, self-esteem or the influence of the media on the way one views one's own body.
