A Great Opportunity for Municipal Palace
Vyhlídalová, Lucie ; Keith, Petr (referee) ; Vojtová, Lea (advisor)
The architectural study deals with recovery and redevelopment of Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou castle, which is currently abandoned and derelict. Inside the castle are planned cultural, social, exhibitive and representative areas. One wing of Hrušovany’s castle will be used as a hotel. There are designed extra standard rooms with chateau interiors. In underground floors we will find a wellness and wine bar. The service of the castle is extended by spaces in new outbuildings. It is a greenhouse, a restaurant and a pavilion for social events. The castle and outbuildings create a courtyard suitable for open-air cultural events. One part of castle‘s complex is garden lapidarium and floral terraces. The design keeps historical and architectural value of this cultural heritage and offers its dignified use nowadays.
The Castle Area Břeclav

It is important to consider broader context to create a concept for a chateau complex in Breclav - within the region and mainly engaging in Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape (LVA). Buildings of LVA are a heritage of Lichtenstein as well as the chateau complex in Breclav. Breclav is also referred to as the gateway to the Lednice-Valtice area. Lednice-Valtice area has been from its beginning a place for recreation and entertainment and that is the concept of what it should be nowadays. Partly the buildings of LVA are used for various cultural events - concerts (Lednice), educational programs (Pohansko) and exhibitions (Valtice). However there are mostly only tours of the interiors and only seasonally. To fulfil the potential of the area it would be appropriate to join all of the buildings in one program that will support the current events and complement with other functions. I propose to use the chateau complex in Breclav as a cultural and recreational centre with outreach to the LVA. Breclav would complete the triangle with other centres in Lednice and Valtice.
Multigenerational Coexistence / Happy Living in a Castle

Previously, the bulk of the population lived in rural areas. The whole family lived there together in the family house on the same property. Young helped the elderly and old to their offspring, with households with children, with the economy. With the advent of industrialization and mobilization, many young people moved into the cities, to work, to the newly constructed blocks of residential houses, which were rather less than they could live with a large extended family. Mutual cooperation was suddenly far away. The town has more people, more jobs and more older people, which the state took care of them - homes for the elderly - retirees concentration in one place, without daily contact with young, with family. Thanks to good quality of health care older people is increasing and this problem is must be solved. The country has still semi-detached houses and multigenerational houses, where the family lived with grandparents, but in the city is hard to find to buy or rent two apartments near each other. The main concept of my work is to create a semi-detached flats, flats with common vestibule, which connects one smaller and one larger apartment. Use the castle for this principle is more than appropriate - will be returned the housing for the family and each of generation finds in the castle grounds space for their activities or employment. This area still remains open to inhabitant of the city and offer them new possibilities for leisure (restaurants and an amphitheater).
