Generic Approach to Updating Uncertainty: Focus on Conditioning
Kuncová, Alexandra ; Peliš, Michal (advisor) ; Sedlár, Igor (referee)
First, we consider different kinds of representation of uncertainty and the meth- ods for updating each of them by conditioning. We focus on the generic frame- work of (conditional) plausibility spaces, since it generalises all the introduced representations. Further, we select three frameworks and list the properties that need to be added to a conditional plausibility space in order to recover each of these frameworks. The main goal of this work, however, is to show how public announcement on single-agent plausibility models, ranking structures, and pos- sibility structures realised by their corresponding update mechanisms, can be embedded into the framework of conditional plausibility spaces. At the very end we briefly illustrate a general update model using plausibility measures. Keywords: belief revision, dynamic logic, epistemic logic, plausibility space, pub- lic announcement, uncertainty, update.
Intertextual Relations in The Engineer of Human Souls
Pácalt, Tomáš ; Bílek, Petr (advisor) ; Špirit, Michael (referee)
The bachelor thesis is based on the analysis of the role writers' images and particular fragments of English and American writers (Poe, Hawthorne, Twaine, Crane, Fitzgerald, Conrad, Lovecraft) have in the novel The Engineer of Human Souls by Josef Skvorecky. This relationship is to be interpreted according to the theory of intertextuality with a goal to analyse a value that these intertextual connections have in the Skvorecky novel. The thesis aims at some of the basic themes in The Engineer of Human Souls with a connection to the English and American writers. The thesis also references to the works of Premysl Blazicek. These references should discuss cognitive functions of a work of art.

This diploma thesis deals with a lexicalized comparison, whose basic words are animal names, zooapelativa. Phraseology and idiomatic language are described in the theoretical part. This part is based not only on Čermák's conception but also on the definition and classification of basic units of this linguistic discipline - set phrase and idioms. The practical part mainly describes animal appellation (bull, duck, cat, goat, cow, horse, sheep, dog, pig and hen). Linguistic analysis, inspirited by the Czech national corpus, focuses on the frequency of the given phrasal units, their diversity and update extent.
