Piston steam engine
Potměšil, Tomáš ; Fiedler, Jan (referee) ; Novotný, Zdeněk (advisor)
The thesis is concerned with posibility of using piston steam engine in minor local steam boiler plants and steam reduction stations. Shortly describes a history of steam engines, analyses and explains positives and negatives of different control gear conceptions and then a 3D model of selected conception is formed. Mainly there is implemented a thermodynamic proposal of steam engine for defined parameters of mechanical power 25 kW, frequency 1500 rpm, input steam pressure 1,5 MPa. Main dimensions of engine parts are determined. Lastly the work compares differences between piston steam engine and single-stage steam turbine and in principle reasons advantages of steam engine in reduction station.
The use of Steam Turbines
Saňka, Marek ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Fiedler, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the use of steam turbines as a part of the power station. The theoretical part focuses on the history, basic informations about steam turbines, as well as facts of the operation and allocation of steam turbines by various criteria. The theoretical part also includes description of the most common construction design. In the practical part is described the concrete power station and is made basic calculation of heat balance.
Thermodynamic method for assessing hydraulic machine efficiency
Mizera, Ladislav ; Ševčík, Petr (referee) ; Habán, Vladimír (advisor)
The master´s thesis contained basic information about the method of thermodynamic efficiency of hydraulic machines. The first part briefly mentioned our opinion on the most widely used method for determining the efficiency of hydraulic machines. Another section of thesis is characterization and measurement procedure using the thermodynamic method. Another section describes measurements of water plants and laboratory measurements, which took place in the past. The final part describes the results of laboratory measurements, which took place in the lab of VUT FSI Brno, and evaluating and comparing the results.
Analysis of the Current State of Power Plant
Rak, Vítek ; Fiedler, Jan (referee) ; Kracík, Petr (advisor)
This thesis presents the Opatovice nad Labem thermal power station (owned by Elektrárny Opatovice, a.s.), which is a combined heat and power producer employing a cogeneration, an eicient mean of exploiting primary energy resources widely used in heating industry. Firstly, the basic terms of heating industry are introduced along with various designs of heat networks, and the fuels used in the Czech republic are listed. The next part of the thesis analyses the actual state of the Opatovice nad Labem power station. Based on the analysis possibility for better saving of the primary fuel is suggested.
Steam Turbine for fossil power plant
Třináctý, Jiří ; Fichtl, Richard (referee) ; Fiedler, Jan (advisor)
This thesis deals with design is condensing steam turbines burning fossil fuels with nominal capacity of the generator of 250 MW with steam reheating and regenerative eight uncontrolled extraction points. The turbine consists of two bodies: a combined high-intermediate pressure section and low pressure parts with dual way outlet down into the water-cooled condenser. Work includes calculating thermal scheme for 100% and 75% capacity, specific heat consumption calculation and design of the flow HP-MP body. Further strength control and basic engineering design of high-medium- work completed by longitudinal section. Achievements are at the end of work compared with work 3a and the conclusion summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the concept.
Thermodynamics of the steam cycle of nuclear power plants
Kozák, Tomáš ; Klimeš, Lubomír (referee) ; Štětina, Josef (advisor)
In the first part, the bachelor thesis is focused on derivation of relations that describe thermal cycles. Then, there is an analysis of the ideal Carnot cycle and the Rankine cycle. The ways of increasing the thermodynamic efficiency of Rankine cycle are mentioned, especially the ones that are focused on generating of electricity in nuclear power plants. The second part describes different types of nuclear reactors, their design, the cooling methods and the steam production. The development of the generation IV. nuclear reactors is mentioned at the end of the bachelor thesis.
Thermodynamic cycle hot engine
Matuška, Petr ; Kloss, Ondřej (referee) ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (advisor)
The aim of this work was to summarize basic theoretical knowledge of ideal thermodynamic cycles of heat machines and to develop their mathematical models to calculate and draw diagrams of each cycle. Based on the information found and calculations made, it was then possible to compare the individual cycles with each other.
Computational Study of the Miller Cycle on a Gasoline Engine with a Turbocharger
Černý, Roman ; Janoušek, Michal (referee) ; Vondrák, Adam (advisor)
The scope of this thesis is the Miller engine cycle analysis and its practical application on a turbocharged spark ignited engine. Based on the sensitivity analysis of the limits affecting the ideal Miller cycle thermal efficiency a thermodynamic model of the engine with a prolonged expansion was set up in the GT-POWER software. The results of the analyses were used to evaluate the feasibility of the reference engine conversion for an operation with Miller cycle.
Comparison of traditional and nontraditional cycles of heat engines
Dobiáš, Ladislav ; Jedelský, Jan (referee) ; Štětina, Josef (advisor)
The bachelor thesis describes the thermodynamic cycles of four-stroke spark ignition (SI) and compression ignition (CI) engine, Wankel engine and two-stroke spark ignition (SI) engine. Based on the information is compared with thermal efficiency of each engines with four-stroke spark ignition engine in the T-S diagrams. There were also dedicated to Atkinson cycle and its use in practice. The last part deals with the construction of a variable compression ratio used in the development of modern engines.
Condensing Steam Turbine
Žáček, Ondřej ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Fiedler, Jan (advisor)
The aim of the thesis „Condensing steam turbine“ is design of condensing steam turbine with uncontrolled extractions. The design is made according to assigned parameters. Balancing scheme of the turbine is defined at the beginning of the thesis. Then design of the regulation stage and reaction stages is accomplished. The calculation (thermodynamic and strength) is computed for mentioned two parts. For thermodynamic calculation is used ca/u method. In closing the design of the seal system is made.
