The use of bibliotherapy in the development of reading literacy of prelingually deaf children

The bachelor's thesis The use of bibliotherapy in the development of reading literacy of prelingually deaf children connects the field of bibliotherapy with deaf studies. The aim of the thesis is to draw up a proposal for a bibliotherapy program based on theoretical knowledge which aims at supporting the development of reading literacy of pupils who lost their hearing before learning spoken Czech and who consider the Czech sign language (which will also be the primary communication code of the programme) as their first language. The theoretical part summarizes and synthesizes Czech and foreign knowledge about the deaf (with an emphasis on their communication systems and the acquisition of Czech language), reading literacy, its meaning and development, and bibliotherapy and its techniques. The practical part of the thesis contains a proposal for a bibliotherapy program in which clients will work with different types of texts, such as comics, recipes, popular science texts and narration. Activities following the reading develop selected reading strategies and components of reading literacy.

This Bachelor's thesis called "Education of students with hearing impairment from the '50s of 20th century till the present time" is in theoretic form and it gives a historical overview of the education of students with hearing impairment. It is divided into four chapters, which present a general introduction of issues in course of hearing impairment, world history of education, in next part I deal with a development of education pupils and students in the Czech republic and in last part I give attention to current situation of education. My goal was to give the reader a comprehensive view into the historical development of education of students with hearing impairment in contrast with an education system in our country that is known nowadays. This thesis is not only for students of special education and specialists, who deal with this issue but also for the general public, whose interested in this topic and want to know more.
Attitudes of students with hearing disability educated by the oral method to communication in Sign language.

The Bachelor thesis is attempting to give an idea of what is the stand of students with hearing disability educated by the oral method, on communication in sign language. The theoretical part is based on findings from deaf education. It is looking into the topic of hearing disability (classification of hearing disability, the psychosocial aspects of people with hearing disabilities, etc.) Furthermore, the thesis describes not only the contemporary education and care for persons with hearing disability but also looks at the historical stance of this topic. The text then discusses the approach in the communication of people with hearing disability - mainly sign language, fingerspelling and lip-reading. The practical part is done in a form of half structured discussion focused on what communication system the students prefer, how the respondents view the oral method, in what manner they communicate outside of school, etc. KEYWORDS Deaf education, oral method, Sign language, communication
Communication competencies of cochlear implant users and their school classification

The thesis "Communication Competence of Cochlear Implant Users and Their School Placement" deals with cochlear implants problematic and communication competence of preschool aged children with cochlear implants. The thesis focuses on communication skills and school placement of children with cochlear implants. The thesis is divided into two main parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part deals with the application of cochlear implant and the rehabilitation process before and after intervention. It further focuses on the communication competence and the education of implant users. The empirical part includes ten specific cases of children with cochlear implants. Apply one's mind to their language abilities such as vocabulary, understanding and grammar. The empirical part shows that cochlear implant is beneficial to the language abilities. Pantomime with Deaf People in the Framework of Dramatic Education

The work is focused on the possibility of pantomime with hearing disabled people in the context of drama education. The first part deals with the pedagogy of a leisure time and the transition to dramatic education. The second part deals with the dramatic education and the common elements with pantomime. The third part is devoted to the history and definition of mime. The fourth explains surdopedie - hearing disability. In the fifth section is described the non-verbal communication. In the sixth, the last part, gives an overview of the history and work of associations of deaf people. Pantomime has it´s history mainly among adults. Increasingly used in the context of drama education for children, which is beneficial to their development of communication and the ability to communicate.
