Commercial centre Miris garden
Dračka, Jakub ; Landa, Karel (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor thesis is the design of the Miris Garden Commercial Centre within a holiday resort, which is also to include a hotel, marina and countless apartment villas, which are not part of the design. The property is located at the foot of the Velebit Mountains, near the Paklenica National Park and the village of Starigrad-Paklenica in Zadar County, Croatia. The assignment is based on an urbanistically nonsensical concept, namely the developer's intention to build a seasonal holiday resort located almost in the bosom of nature, in addition to a scale far exceeding the aforementioned village, the nearest settlement in the area. The bachelor's thesis was preceded by a studio project, which was, however, completely reworked after long deliberations and a struggle with one's own conscience, but the original intention remained – to hide the undesirable building in the local landscape under a layer of soil and to show as little of it as possible. The building is conceived as a small village, a cluster of small houses concentrated in one long street, which is, however, quite rugged and thus creates several nooks and small streets along its length. This street opens out towards the Velebit Mountains and partly towards the Adriatic Sea. While the front, and the only visible façade, is articulated, the others are hidden underneath the ground level. A longitudinal service and supply corridor runs through the building, separating the shops and restaurants from their back-of-house, warehouses and process rooms. There is an underground garage under the northeastern part of the building. The roof of the building is green, planted with fruit trees and sloping. The forecourt of the building is also planted with trees, the trees provide shade and shelter for birds and bees. The shell of the building is made of rammed concrete, the layers of which visually relate to the surrounding landscape of limestone. There is no lift in the building. The shops are designed in a minimalist way to maximise the use of outdoor space and to take account of seasonal use. Lighting and ventilation is provided by chimneys, thus transforming the original function of the chimneys according to current needs and requirements.
Residential Complex on the Red Hill in Brno
Matoušek, Martin ; Joja, Marie (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Jan (advisor)
The Červený kopec area represents a strategic location for the further development of Brno. The immense potential of the site lies in its high attractiveness due to the proximity to greenery along the Svratka River and surrounding forests, panoramic views of Brno, and its location on the outskirts of the Staré Brno. Currently, the area is sparsely populated, yet plans for its development are becoming increasingly frequent. The first step towards new construction could be the newly built long-term care hospital on the site of the historic one. This project responds to the potential of this location and aims to capitalize on its lucrative attributes. This abstract analyzes the potential and possibilities for the development of Červený kopec and proposes strategies for the effective use of this key urban area in the context of Brno's development.
Commercial center Miris Garden in Croatia
Žilková, Monika ; Doležal, Ondřej (referee) ; Novák, Petr (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor thesis is preparation of project documentation for building permits and part of the documentation for the implementation of construction based on the assignment, which was provided in the course BGA032 - Architectural Design Studio 4. The topic of the study is a design of a new building of the commercial center Miris Garden in Croatia near the town Starigrad. The building is to form the main point of the newly built resort on the sloping coast of the Adriatic Sea. The commercial center is to fulfill a commercial function (with several smaller shops and gastro businesses) and in part of the building also an administrative function, where offices are available for the management of the center and for tenants. The three buildings forming a unified whole are designed in the shape of two central hexagons, creating a space imitating a shopping street. It then culminates in a square with a view of the sea. The center has a total of three floors, which, however, are fitted into the terrain in such a way that when viewed towards the sea it looks like a single-storey building, so it does not disturb the views of the surrounding villas. The new building will be located in an open landscape, so its construction and operation will not disturb any nearby residents in any way.
The Ideal City Brno: The New Stará Osada
Hladíková, Tereza ; Skála, Jiří (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Jan (advisor)
My master thesis deals with the urban locality Stará Osada, which is an artery of the urban district of Brno- Židenice. It is a social and transport hub for the Brno - Židenice district. Stará Osada is part of the wider city centre. This traffic junction is defined by a development of prefabricated houses, where the dominant feature of the environment is a thirteen-storey building. Stará Osada could be defined similarly to Mendel Square in Brno. Compared to Mendel Square, the space of Stará Osada is very fragmented, disorganised and people only use it as a transfer point for public transport. In connection with the construction of the New Armoury and the traffic tunnel, traffic calming on Gajdošova- Svatoplukova Streets, which currently form the city ring road, will be addressed in the future. Stará Osada has the potential to be a full-fledged centre of Židenice, which supports the development of the urban district, which the district strives for. The aim of the thesis is to design a public space in the form of a square with new buildings, supporting the development that is lacking in the urban district. The buildings, by their mass, will enclose and integrate the space of Stará Osada and will be a manifesto of a possible architectural and urbanistic solution for Stará Osada. The square and the adjacent buildings will provide the opportunity for increased social events and new housing.
Baugruppe in Rosice u Brna
Calíková, Natália ; Krištof, Michal (referee) ; Suchánek, Radek (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the topic of Baugruppe and its application in the town of Rosice. It is an approach to housing that is currently used in some countries of Western Europe, but is not yet well represented in the Czech Republic. It is a response to the current state of housing affordability in the Czech Republic and to highlight a housing tip with a good quality/price ratio. At the same time, it is about bringing this topic of housing closer to the society. The thesis is related to the pre-diploma thesis, in which three parcels of the town of Rosice were dealt with and different approaches to deal with the area were sought. The diploma is a response to one of the selected parcel with the actual design of a building with participatory housing.
The Ideal City Nitra: The Klokočina Central Zone
Ďurčovič, Martin ; Csanda, Milan (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Jan (advisor)
The research objective of my diploma thesis is to identify and examine the potential of the central zone of the Klokočina housing estate in Nitra City through a spatial study. I work with the urban development concept proposed in the city zoning plan, which I thoroughly analyse and further develop. The main emphasis of the work is on creating a quality public space and promoting socially sustainable ways of future building development. I design new urban spaces and the subsequent urban building structure that shapes the new urban spaces. The proposed spatial study can serve the city of Nitra as a quality reference material for decision-making in the territory and spatial planning, which provides sustainable urban development.
Contemporary city
Zámečník, Kristián ; Joja, Milan (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
To limit urban sprawl into the surrounding countryside, densification of development and use of neglected areas is necessary. In this thesis, I seek to address this by finding an ideal balance between density, open spaces and a diversity of functions that support the further development of the current area. The result should be a city that is viable, resilient and adaptable, delivering a quality living environment for its residents and supporting sustainable growth. A city that works as a whole with its new neighbourhood but is not overrun by it.
PUBLIC CITY SPACE – IVANČICE
Klaška, Petr ; Pospíšil, Zdeněk (referee) ; Boháč, Ivo (advisor)
In the study, we solve the central square of the town Ivančice extent: Palacky square, Comenius Square and surrounding areas of the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary with a part of Mill Street. The basic principle of the proposal is to create a bright urbanized area with a clearly organized traffic and movement of pedestrians. Square must in future comply with all requirements for functionality the central city area. Must fulfill both functions of assembly as well as commercial and cultural. Being an active center of the city, which will provide its residents an attractive environment for their identification with the place their home. The proposal's emphasis on compact solutions based on the classic city-forming compositions and standards. The main objective is to preserve the integrity of the specified square area as seen historical photographs. Over time, the square was filled with a variety of often inconsistent or improper furniture, greenery and other solitaires, which, in combination with parking across the surface of the square and double necks impairment of the main urban area. The main aim of the project I had solve the traffic situation, cleansing and unification of Square and finally to incorporate revive nearby parish church. The proposal defines the space Palacky Square following the original historical rectangle plan approaching and divides it into three parts: The first part is a central rectangular area, which blended currently fragmented space. This empty space showcases a Baroque plague column and the fountain with the statue of St. Florian. As a counterweight to the plague column and the fountain is in the opposite half of the rectangle designed water feature in the form of three water jets, which creates a water column of a time his height. Water features does not make the water and in the case of holding larger events it is possible to turn off the water element and thereby clear the entire area of central rectangle. Water feature highlights the main entrance to the church. The central rectangular space will be used as the venue for cultural, sporting and market activities. The second part is operating within the traffic lane pedestrian zones defined lighting and street furniture around the perimeter of serving in a restricted mode for supply. The third part of the irregular portion adjacent to the home life partners defined various commercial activities. Within Comenius Square was left a greater number of parking spaces, but that was přeřešeno such a way as to create wider sidewalks along the larger home and a new expansion bays for seating and meeting and commercial purposes neighboring establishments catering zařízení.4 Almost all surfaces are vertically aligned and newly paved granite chipped tiles (using the existing historic paving). The central rectangular space in the newly paved square cut granite blocks stacked into large squares. Proposal emphasizes the use of high quality noble materials such as stone (granite), cast iron, acacia wood.
Public spaces of the city of Brno - theoretical work
Lelkes, Ivana ; Adamková, Jana (referee) ; Kopáčik, Gabriel (advisor)
Master´s thesis adresses the issue of public spaces of inner city of Brno. These spaces have good prerequisities to become attractive places for everyday use or for spending a good free time. These prerequsities include for example compact city structure, well defined public spaces, walking city distances, presence of public and commercial facilities and distinctive genius loci. But public spaces in these localities often do not fulfill their own potential and stay as average free space inbetween buildings. Thesis suggests a detailed system for categorisation of squares and streets in the inner city of Brno and examines the reasons for potential non-fulfillment on these typologies, it tries to find out the problems of public spaces and how they can be solved.
