Dense Mullite Aggregate
Mezulianík, Tomáš ; Tvrdík,, Lukáš (referee) ; Nevřivová, Lenka (advisor)
Refractory aggregate based on aluminosilicate are manufactured by firing clays, claystones or shales. The firing takes place in rotary or blast furnaces. However, when manufacturing the special refractory materials, we can not do it without special aggregate with higher content of Al2O3. Theoretical part of this thesis is aimed on the description of mineral mullite and mullite refractory aggregate, their method of production and raw material basis. The research of mullite aggregate on the market and their application in the refractory industry. In conclusion of the study, an experiment was performed for the production of special aggregate with increased alumina content according to the proposed prescriptions
Mullite Refractory Grog
Zemánek, David ; Tvrdík,, Lukáš (referee) ; Nevřivová, Lenka (advisor)
Refractory aggregate manufactured from common clays, claystones and shales in Czech Republic are mostly classified as fireclay. For specific applications are these grogs not suitable and there is a need to use grogs with higher content of alumina oxide. Theoretical part of this thesis is focused on the mineral mullite, which is one of the basic minerals in Al2O3 - SiO2 system. Research is focused on methods of mullite production, manufacture of recfractory grog and new possibilities in modification of current raw materials. In experimental part is carried out a verification of possible production of grogs with increased alumina content according to the designed composition.

The Blanka tunnel, geological hazadrs and problems during boring
Sedláček, Václav ; Král, Jan (advisor) ; Lešner, Jeroným (referee)
The Blanka tunnel has two boring sections: Brusnice tunnel and Královská obora tunnel. Both tunnels were boring in difficult geologycal conditions, but the geology conditions of these tunnels are not same. Also they had not the same hazards during boring. There was used a spectrum of different technical works with hazard reduction purpose and safety process of boring. There were three serious accidents, wnich everyone made a creater on the surface, but they have not the same causes. This text has a task to describe a geological survey before and during the boring of both tunnels. How other reasons affected the process of boring? How the tunnels were bored? What events preceded the everyone of three major failure? This text does not deal with economical things of boring and effects of specific personal influence on the process of boring. Key words Tunnel, excavation, Blanka, Brusnice, Letná, Stromovka park, Vltava river, underground water, geology, ordovik, New Austrian Tunnelling method, pilot tunnel, calotte, bench, bottom, arche, bolt, lining, grouting, collapse of ceiling, failure, tube, shale, quarzite, soil, loess, ballast, clay
Sediment disintegration due to air compressed by capillarity: overlooked erosion mechanism
Current Trends in Unconventional Oil and Natural Gas Production with Focus on the U.S.
Prášek, Jakub ; Vošta, Milan (advisor) ; Vlčková, Jana (referee)
The thesis deals with the current trends and development of the unconventional oil and natural gas production. The main aim is to evaluate and analyze the global development of unconventional production and the influence of its growth in the last decade on the global economy and the given markets. In addition, not only the pros, but also the risks and limitations of unconventional production, are examined, e.g. economic and environmental issues. The final part focuses on the United States and the local shale boom. Based on the analysis of American unconventional production, the future of these sources is predicted. At the end of the thesis the effects of shale boom on the U.S. economy are explored as well, focusing mainly on the U.S. trade balance.
Current and future trends in world trade and extraction of shale gas
Brückler, Jaroslav ; Müller, David (advisor) ; Trojanová, Kamila (referee)
This thesis look into extraction and trade of shale gas. The aim of this thesis is to simply explain to the readers the basic principles of trade with the shale gas and to present its possibilities in extraction and its use. I also describe all side affects, that are related to the extraction and trade with the shale gas such as, impact on the environment or the price of the natural gas. The thesis provides the reader with the basic knowledge of processing of the shale gas, possibilities of its extraction and trade and of its positive or negative impacts on world trade with the natural gas.
Nekonvenční způsoby produkce ropy a zemního plynu a jejich vliv na mezinárodní obchod
Černý, Martin ; Štěrbová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Baláž, Peter (referee)
The growing world population accompanied by an increase in GDP is effectively raising the demand for energy. One of the options are unconventional means of oil and gas, originating mainly from shales and oil sands. The goal of this thesis is to introduce the reader to unconventional means and their influence on international business. After a short introduction and definition an analysis of the situation in the U.S. follows, where the recent years have brought an increase in production from unconventional sources. The positive influence on the economy, employment and energetic security will be mentioned same as possible impacts on the environment. Furthermore the paper provides an analysis of the potential of repeating the U.S. shale revolution in other countries, with special focus on the EU. The success of unconventional sources opens the possibility of new trade routes, influence on the trade balance and the potential of influencing the whole gas market. However, it will also have an impact on current oil and gas producers. Considering the close bond between energetic security and politics, the thesis closes with an analysis of influences on the economy and politics of both -- current oil and gas producers and countries, which might be directly and indirectly affected by changes in the oil and gas market.
