Saturation of patient needs during acute admission to a surgical ward

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of satisfying the needs of a patient acutely admitted to a surgical department. The research focused on feelings and perceptions in the area of satiration of the needs of acutely admitted patients, but also on the view of the nursing staff, who saturate the needs of acutely admitted patients. We investigated whether the patient is perceived as a holistic being, and what problems the nursing staff most often faces during the saturation of the needs of an acutely admitted patient. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the structure of the patient's admission to a hospital facility, and specifies human needs and factors that affect them. In the empirical part, the methodology and results of the research methods used are presented. For the empirical part of the thesis, quantitative and qualitative research was chosen. As part of the quantitative research, a questionnaire was compiled addressing nurses working in surgical outpatient departments or nurses who perform acute admission of patients in surgical wards. The information obtained through the questionnaire survey approximated the opinion of nurses on the saturation of the needs of acutely admitted patients and partly on the working conditions of nursing staff in the surgical department. Methods of semi-structured interview and covert observation were used for qualitative research. Interviews were conducted with acutely admitted patients who were hospitalized after unplanned treatment in the surgical department. Patients were informed about the use of the information obtained and had to give their consent to conduct the interviews. The results of quantitative research have shown that nurses prioritize satisfying the basic (biological) needs of patients, and higher (psychosocial) needs are provided as secondary. The thesis also points out that in many cases nurses act through established competencies. In the interview, the nursing staff mostly said that they would like to have more time for the patient. We also found that most nurses have at least one experience with providing for an urgently admitted patient in one person, and pain relief in an acute admission comes more often from nurses than from doctors. Although nurses cited more staff as the primary factor that would help them reduce stress levels while satisfying the patient's needs. When testing hypotheses, it turned out that the impossibility of satisfying the patient's needs is not related to the working conditions of the nursing staff. The qualitative results of the research answered that patients are unable to assess the validity of the nursing interventions performed during their acute admission. However, the quality of nursing care was most often deduced from the level of communication of the staff, information, reactions to expressed concerns, calm approach, etc. We have found that patients who have previous experience with hospitalization are affected by the experience and often bring negative fears about upcoming hospitalization. Covert observation supported the results obtained from the methods already mentioned. It shows that nurses primarily provided physiological needs in all outpatient departments and surgical wards. And only then did they saturate the psychosocial needs. Nurses satiated the needs of patients both according to the doctor's office and independently, acting as an autonomous part of a multidisciplinary medical team. The results of the diploma thesis could contribute to the improvement of care in the acute admission of the patient, and serve as a possible algorithm for the admission of the patient in the form of a brochure. The thesis can be processed as a teaching material within the framework of lifelong learning for medical staff working not only in emergency departments.

Perception of patient privacy

The bachelor's thesis dealt with the issue of patient privacy in hospital facilities. The aim of this work was to find out how patients hospitalized in the inpatient ward perceive privacy, how nurses perceived patient privacy and in what ways nurses ensured the privacy of patients in the inpatient ward. Three research questions were set to investigate how patients hospitalized in an inpatient ward perceive privacy. Furthermore, they focused on the nurses' view of the perception of patient privacy and the ways in which nurses ensure the privacy of patients hospitalized in the inpatient ward. In the theoretical part, the work defines basic terms related to patient privacy, such as the duty of confidentiality, providing information with the patient's consent, providing information without the patient's consent, patients' rights, medical documentation, human needs and ensuring the privacy of patients during selected nursing procedures. In order to achieve the goal, the qualitative research method, the interview method and the semi-structured interview technique were used for patients hospitalized in the internal inpatient ward and for the nurses caring for these patients, as well as for patients hospitalized in the surgical inpatient ward and for the nurses caring for these patients. The research sample consisted of 6 patients and 5 nurses. The results of the obtained data led to the finding that the nurses had adequate knowledge regarding the issue of dealing with sensitive patient information. Nurses had adequate knowledge of procedures to protect patient privacy, although not all nurses used these procedures in practice. The research investigation further revealed that patients hospitalized in inpatient wards often did not think about their own privacy in the hospital environment, and the issue of privacy was a problematic and difficult topic for them to talk about. If the management of the investigated hospital is interested in the results of the investigation, they will be provided with them.

Design and Implementation of Reservation System for Confectionery

This Bachelor Thesis describes the design and implementation of reservation system for Cukrárna a Pension Na Hrázi in the village Střelice. Contains general data and information recherché, information system, data modelling information system, internet, mark-up languages, database and programming languages. The practical part deals with the design and implementation of a new reservation system according to customer requirements. In the design were used, USE CASE diagrams and ER diagram for a database. The system is implemented in the programming language PHP and MySQL database.

The diploma thesis focuses on design of the information system for the department of medical transport service, which is part of the hospital. This thesis describes the theoretical knowledge necessary for analysis and custom design, is also concerned with the analysis of the current state of processes and information system. Last but not least, based on the analysis and the requirements lays down suggestions for improvement of the information system and design of optimal information system, that effectively supports the processes and enables its users to work more efficiently.

This master's thesis is aimed at the analysis of the information system in the Holánek Winery and the proposal of its changes. It focuses mainly on solving the problem of data availability for management decision making process in the company. After defining the theoretical basis, a number of analyses of the current state of the company are performed. The last chapter focuses on the proposals themselves to improve data availability and security, streamline the work of users or obtain completely new features. The chapter ends with a detailed schedule of implementation of individual proposals for their easy implementation.

Main goal of this bachelor´s thesis is creation user interface for correct fast reading practise. Four moduls train various abilities of human eyes in regard to average and advanced reader. Application was created as WinForm and thematically is connected with human sight, which hide incredible potential for most of people. The bachelor´s thesis analyse features of eye, individual types of exercises, implementation, concrete developement of user interface and users reactions from their own testing.
