Design of Electric Urban Vehicle Drive System

This diploma thesis sets itself into the task of presenting a conceptual design of a powertrain system intended for a small electric vehicle of the L6e category. As a part of this thesis, in the initial part of this work, a survey of components and their optimal arrangement in the powertrain system of a small electric vehicle was carried out. Subsequently, after the presentation of the possible components of the powertrain system, testing of these variants was carried out, both form a mechanical and an electrical point of view, to guarantee the compatibility of the individual parts of the vehicle´s powertrain system. After the evaluation, the optimal variant of the drive system, intended for the concept on a small electric vehicle “Nanos” was selected. To determine the acceleration characteristics and the range of a vehicle equipped with such designed powertrain system, series of acceleration tests as well as vehicle range test according to the first part of the official WMTP cycle, intended for vehicles belonging to the category L6e, were performed. The resulting values of the vehicle´s acceleration and range tests are subsequently compared with the values of already existing vehicles belonging to the same category, thus enabling an overall evaluation of the powertrain system concept.

Electric Longboard Powertrain Design

The second part contains the design of the whole assembly with focus on the drivetrain. The last part is devoted to the longitudinal driving dynamics.

Drivetrain of a 8x8 truck

This thesis is focused on building a replacement torsion system of drivetrain of 8x8 and 8x4 trucks and subsequent computational analyses of built systems. There were made two analyses. The first one is a computational analysis of the shapes of vibration and The second one is a sensitivity analysis. The sensitivity analysis is studying effect on the size of the natural frequencies under the effect of gear ratio.

On that basis is made the new concept of drivetrain for the each car. Major focus is placed on the design of the differential mounting and chain tensioning mechanism. For the selected components was made stress analysis by FEM.

Formula Student Differential Holders

This thesis deals with the used design solutions for differential mounting in Formula Student monoposts and with the selection of the optimal construction for the Dragon X monopost from the TU Brno Racing workshop. The thesis also deals with the analysis and suitability of the proposed structural unit in comparison with last year's solution and its separate strength, weight and functional analysis.

Formula Student Drivetrain Components Design

This batchelor´s thesis deals with description of formula student drivetrain components. Knowledge acquired in the theoretical part is applied in construction part of thesis. With structural design relates determination of drivetrain loading, stress analysis of driveshafts, stub axles and sprocket´s flange. All components were designed by using finite element method in software Ansys Workbench.

Study of vehicle torque vectoring

This bachelor thesis deals with torque vectoring. This topic has become interesting in recent years, as there is a rapid development of electromobility. Torque vectoring system can be integrated into electric vehicles with ease because there can be two motors on one axle. In this thesis, various types of drives and drivetrains are described, differentials are also covered in detail. Vehicle dynamics is also described. After the vehicle dynamics, the very benefit of torque vectoring is discussed. Finally, sensors and programs that could be used to design and simulate the system are briefly mentioned.
