The Influence of the Arab Spring on US-Saudi Relations

This bachelor thesis deals with the influence, which the events of the Arab Spring had on the relations between the United States of America and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It examines the events of the Arab Spring in four countries, which are important both for the Arab Spring itself and thanks to their specific relations to both observed states. The countries are Tunisia (where the events of the Arab Spring first started and from where they began to spread to other countries of the Arab world), Egypt (long-time partner of both the United States and Saudi Arabia in the region), Libya (first country, where was undertaken a foreign military intervention with the participation of the United States regarding the Arab spring) and Saudi Arabia itself (where the protests were appeased, but from where a military intervention against neighboring Bahrain was launched). Apart from a chronological account of the events, part of the thesis is also an analysis of the stances of both observed states on these events. Comparing these stances, the thesis aims to show how big an influence the potential differences in stance had on mutual relations between the United States and Saudi Arabia. The aim of bachelor thesis is to describe and assess the development cooperation between international institutions and developing countries focusing on Arab countries of North Africa and the Middle East. To achieve this goals were used the most current information in the form of publicly available documents of international organizations. Classification was based on a dynamic(evolutionary) approach, comparison of past and present. The work is structured into five main chapters, each chapter contains several sections.

This bachelor thesis will deal with the status of women within business and entrepreneurship in the Arab world. The thesis addresses the development of Islam, women's rights and the situation of women in the workplace. It will also examine the status of women within the labour market of the Arab world. It touches on the demographic development of the Arab region, as well as health care and education. From an economic point of view, the thesis deals with unemployment in the region, evaluation of work and the contribution of women as workers. In addition, it discusses obstacles to women entering the labor market.
