Methodology for determining the durability of concrete and its resistance to frost and chemical deicing salts
Chaloupková, Kristýna ; Novosad, Petr (referee) ; Hubáček, Adam (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis explores the possibilities of improving testing procedures for determining the resistance of concrete to frost and chemical deicing salts. Currently used testing methods are notably problematic in terms of their repeatability and reproducibility. These tests are influenced by several factors, including the method of sample storage prior to testing, the preparation of the test surface, and the significant impact of edge effects. Additionally, the raw materials used in the test solution also affect the outcomes. During the test, water condensation occurs in the freezing chamber, altering the concentration and level of the test solution.
Heat pumps testing methodology
Španihelová, Kateřina ; Kamenský, Petr (referee) ; Hejčík, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis deals with the methodology of heat pumps testing. The first part covers the basic principles of a heat pump from the thermomechanical point of view, the description of the heat pump basic components and low-potential heat sources. The next section describes the parameters of heat pumps according to which we can evaluate their effectiveness. The last part is targeted on the issue of testing heat pumps including a description of the test methods and description of the test heat pump air-water.
Test Methods of Composite Materials
Cieslar, Bogdan ; Trnkóci, Michal (referee) ; Klement, Josef (advisor)
Brief manual about standardized tests of mechanical properties of fibre-reinforced plastic composites. Work includes survey most important standardized tests used in the aeronautics and their lineation.
Diagnostics of flooring failures and defects in the housing and civic construction
Vrtal, Roman ; Žítt, Petr (referee) ; Schmid, Pavel (advisor)
The object of the thesis is a description of preparation process, realization and subsequent treatment of floors based on calcium sulphate, including problems related to the issue. The aim of the work is to closely acquaint the reader with methods used in diagnostics of flooring failures and defects in the housing and civic construction, including practical applications of these methods on real structures. The work also includes experimental analysis of a real floor construction during local load effect.
Diagnostics of reinforced concrete structures
Nápravník, Petr ; Komárková, Tereza (referee) ; Láník, Jaromír (advisor)
This thesis deals with the structural-technical survey of beam bridge no. 204c - M1, located in Bystřice pod Hostýnem. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to general characteristics of bridges, load capacity of bridges, beam bridges, concrete reinforcement, concrete, diagnosis of reinforced concrete structures, and laboratory evaluation. The practical part deals with carrying out a structural-technical survey on the bridge mentioned above, its evaluation and assessment, recalculation of the load capacity, and design of the necessary rehabilitation to maintain the functionality of the bridge.
BEHAVIOR OF THE CONCRETE-TO-CONCRETE INTERFACE WITHOUT SHEAR REINFORCEMENT
Čairovič, Dorde ; Terzijski, Ivailo (referee) ; Čajka,, Radim (referee) ; Štěpánek, Petr (advisor)
Doctoral thesis focuses on behavior of the interface between two concrete layers cast at different times and without shear reinforcement. By means of both experimental and numerical analysis, some of the factors affecting interface strength have been assessed. Namely, surface roughness and suitability of different roughness parameters used for its characterization, effects of overlay mechanical properties and collateral effects of surface preparation methods. Also, different tests to assess interface strength have been investigated in detail and mutually compared. The most suitable roughness parameters have been chosen, based on its overall stability. Correlation between mean texture depth and other parameters have been defined. Results of the experimental program intended to further investigate abovementioned effects on interface strength, led to proposition of extended semi quantitative design approach and introduction of coefficient of surface preparation. Based on the extensive experimental program, correlation between different test setups, including its main advantages and disadvantages, has been presented, together with roughness characterization and failure envelope of the dimpled interface.
Survey and Assessment of Brick Building in Brno, Palacky Street
Španihelová, Ivana ; Anton, Ondřej (referee) ; Cikrle, Petr (advisor)
The thesis summarizes the methods used to test and evaluate the characteristics of vertical masonry structures and further shows the evaluation procedure according to ČSN ISO 13 822. In the second part of this work there is a practical example of brick building assess-ment process, including determining the strength of the walls and the conversion of select-ed critical elements of the existing structure – window pier and wooden beamed ceiling.
Methods of assessing the durability of concrete against frost and chemical deicing salts in the Czech Republic and in Europe
Žíla, František ; Novosad,, Petr (referee) ; Hubáček, Adam (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the methods of assessing the durability of concretes against frost and chemical deicing salts used in the Czech Republic and Europe. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the basic properties of concrete, the classes of environmental influence, the theory of concrete failure by cyclic freezing and thawing, methods for assessing the durability of concrete against freezing and methods for assessing the durability against water and chemical deicing salts, as well as properties affecting the repeatability and reproducibility of tests. The practical part focuses on testing the resistance of concrete to the action of freezing and chemical thawing agents using the methods according to the standards ČSN 73 1322 and ČSN 73 1326 and also on the influence of concrete surface treatment on the process and result of these tests.
