Indeed, the past three decades of higher education have been marked by a growing instability of the system manifested mainly in access and quality issues. Despite the different programs and policies elaborated and implemented, these problems only persist. As such, I attempt to answer the main questions: What are the most essential factors for the unsuccessful implementation of significant Higher Education policies in Senegal? In which ways could strategic governance be improved to remedy the current pitfalls of the system? By extension, I propose as a potential solution the rethinking of the governance approach to higher education by studying the barriers and opportunities of strategic governance in higher education in Senegal. The impact of a new scramble for Africa between the EU and China - a comparative case study of foreign direct investment in Senegal and Zambia

The goal of this research is to shed light on the impact of European foreign direct investment and growing Chinese foreign direct investment in Sub-Saharan Africa through lenses of neocolonialism and orientalism. A case study analysis is utilized to grasp the topic appropriately. Two case studies were set - Senegal and Zambia case study. While Senegal serves predominantly as a case study for the impact of EU foreign direct investments, The case study of Zambia helps to understand how Chinese FDI inflow affects Sub-Saharan countries. Therefore, six hypotheses were outlined. This work researches the impact of FDI on the level of democracy represented by the democratic index of The Economist Intelligence Unit, business freedom embodied in The Heritage Foundation's economic freedom index, and stability of state symbolised by the fragile state index studied by The Fund for Peace. All three indexes above are available for free online. The correlation between EU FDI and level of democracy was confirmed while Chinese FDI negatively affects democratic development in studied countries. Comparison of selected of decolonization factors of British and French territories in West Africa

This Bachelor thesis deals with the analysis and comparison of the causes, processes and consequences of the decolonization of former French and British Colonies in West Africa, namely Senegal and Ghana. The work is based on an examination of the hypothesis: "Different systems of colonial administration and their consequences have differently influenced the character of the decolonization process and postcolonial relations between the former colonies and their rulers ". The focal point of the research are factors emanating directly from the colonies, such as the system of colonial administration, the system of colonial education, indigenous elites, and political mobilization. As part of the approach to the theoretical level, the work is based on the concepts of colonialism, decolonization and neocolonialism. It is neo- colonialism that is related to a subsequent research question, which seeks to examine the presence and extent of neo-colonialism in these African countries during the first ten years of independence. The results of the research point to significant differences in the colonial administration, which have implications for the type and behavior of indigenous elites and thus political mobilization and different approaches of political leaders to the process of decolonization. Food security problems in West Africa - case study Mali and Senegal

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the food security problems in West Africa together with further analysis of Mali and Senegal. Furthemore, this thesis provides an insight into geographic positions, agricultural development and overall hunger situations of chosen areas as these all named aspects have both direct and indirect impacts on food security. To measure the food security in chosen regions two different indexes were used in order to ensure maximal accuracy of the analyzed criteria (the Global Hunger Index and the Global Food Security Index). Moreover, the thesis analyzes main geographic and demographic challenges in the region and their correlations wtih food security issues. Next, different regional organizations and policies focused on the development of the areas are described. Based on the theoretical and analytical research and results of the thesis, recommendations for sustainable development and improvement of food security are eventually provided.

Business and Cultural Specialities of Senegal

This thesis provides complex information about Senegal with regard to its relations with the Czech Republic. The first chapter presents basic information about the territory, such as geography, demography and history of Senegal and detailed characterisctics of local population. The second chapter discusses the current political and economic situation in the country as well as its foreign-policy orienation. The third chapter describes the position of Senegal in international trade and focuses on its relations with the Czech Republic. The last chapter is an overview of Senegalese society and culture, with an emphasis on cultural aspects of business negotiation in the country.

Its aim is to determine how the radio, television and Internet affect the democratization development of Senegalese society. The first part focuses on the historical introduction of information and communication technologies in Senegal and emphasizes the connection between the major turning point of modern history of Senegal and the growing social impact of information and communication technologies. The second part explores the impact of information and communication technologies on Senegalese society, culture, economy and politics.

Comparison of growth factors of Senegal and Kenya from the points of institutional economy

A main objective of my diploma paper is analysis of different growth strategies of economic policy in two africain countries in the time of their independency. The focus of this paper will be devoted to comparison of growth factors from the point of institucional economics. These factors will be investigated together with both economics -- Senegal and Kenya in 1960s and 1970s in connection with different colonial policies of Great Britain and France. In the final part, I 'd like to make some perspective strategies of both economic policies from the point of institutional economics.
