Langerová, Kateřina ; Tomová, Šárka (advisor) ; Nikodemová, Hana (referee)
This bachelor thesis "Informedness of Parents and Family Members of Pediatric Patients about Lymphedema" focuses on the informedness of parents (caregivers) of a pediatric patient about the lymphedema disease. The goal of the work was to determine the state of informedness of parents and family members of a pediatric patient in the area of lymphedema and the dependence between this informedness and some parameters of the researched group and various types of information. A non-standard questionnaire of an own construction was chosen as the research method. The questionary was distributed in paper and online form through specialized healthcare facilities and through private Facebook groups focusing on lymphedema. 59 questionnaires were included in the survey. The results of this survey showed that the respondents' informedness is at a good level, regardless of the respondents' education and the time since the first symptoms of the disease. The Internet, next to specialized medical deparments, was identified as one of the most important and most frequent sources of information by the respondents. On the contrary, the respondents called media such as magazines, newspapers and television, educational materials, professional literature, but also general practitioners for children and adolescents as less...

Informedness of primiparas about the care of newborn.
KRATOCHVÍLOVÁ, Eva
The topic of the bachelor thesis is the informedness of primiparas about a newborn child care. The theoretical part of the thesis explains terms physiological newborn child, his/her postnatal adaptation and basic care of a newborn child. It describes the basic acts that the nurses aim to teach all mothers in hospital, such as changing nappies, bathing, caring of the umbilical scar and handling a newborn child. It also describes the equipment needed for basic care of a child. The practical part of the thesis raised five objectives and five hypotheses. The first objective was to compare the level of informedness of primiparas in two hospitals in the Czech Republic (Oblastní nemocnice Příbram, a.s. and Nemocnice České Budějovice, a.s.). The hypothesis that the informedness of primiparas in Oblastní nemocnice Příbram, a.s. is lower has not been confirmed. The other objectives were to ascertain the level of informedness of primiparas about bathing techniques, treatment of the umbilical scar and handling a new-born child, and the sources from which the primiparas obtain most information. The hypothesis that primiparas have sufficient information about bathing techniques, care of the umbilical scar and the ways how to take a new-born child from the cot and how to hold the child correctly, and the hypothesis that they obtain most information from the nurses in hospital and, when being out of hospital, from the Internet have been confirmed. The results of the research are presented in charts and compared with technical literature in the respective chapter. The bachelor thesis could serve as a source of information both for students and for mothers-to-be.
The position of nurses in internal expert outpatients{\crq} departments.
ŠŤASTNÁ, Věra
This bachelor thesis deals with the position of nurses in internal expert outpatients{\crq} departments. The current position of nurses in the internal outpatients{\crq} departments is special and demanding. We cannot imagine how the health care service would work without them. An outpatients{\crq} nurse has several tasks that she should master and carry out smoothly {--} it is the role of an educator, an attorney, a manager, a provider of health care, a mentor, a researcher and a carrier of all changes. The relation between the doctor and the nurse is also highly important; it should be friendly, considerate and mutually respectful, and their cooperation should be based on equal rights. Internal outpatients{\crq} department provide health care to patients with various diseases of internal organs. Nurses are a significant part of the medical team. The departments serve as places of the first contact of the client with the medical staff. Professional approach and communication with the patient are expected. A quality medical and nursing care is unthinkable without communication between the client and the nurse. Patients vary in their behaviour and reactions but certain manifestations of behaviour are common to certain groups of people. The objective of my work is to find out the position of nurses in selected internal expert outpatients{\crq} departments. In order to fulfil this objective I applied the qualitative research. The method of collection of data consisted in half-structured interviews with 35 standardized questions carried out with nurses in selected internal outpatients{\crq} departments. The interviews were completely anonymous. Three nurses were interviewed in every selected internal outpatients{\crq} department. The whole research was carried out in the Motol University Hospital in Prague. 9 nurses took part in the research (3 nurses from the department of diabetology, 3 nurses from the department of endocrinology and 3 nurses from the rheumatologic department). The interviews with nurses from individual outpatients{\crq} departments were the basis of case histories. Those served as the research groundwork for elaboration of 11 categorizing charts that summarize the most important results of the research. Thanks to our research findings and meeting the objective of our research we found out that the position of nurses in selected expert internal outpatients{\crq} departments is good though financially undervalued. High demands, mainly in the sphere of communication with patients and other medical staff, are placed on them. The research further showed that the nurses mainly work as educators and their job description mostly consists in administrative and nursing work. They have adequate working conditions. They also provide information to patients orally as well as by means of practical demonstrations. On the other hand, nurses in outpatients{\crq} departments suffer from more displays of stress.
The knowing of laic community about high- risk factors, prevention and symptoms of vascular brain stroke
VYCHYTILOVÁ, Renata
Cerebrovascular accident (CVA, ictus) is a critical state in neurology, when due to disturbance in the blood supply to the brain the local or total damage of brain functions occurs. Only one third of patients with this diagnosis are completely cured. The possibilities how to improve this situation is first of all an early hospitalization of ill in their acute stadium of the disease and an appreciation of preventive care significance. The main risk factors are: age, heredity, high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, smoking, alcohol, drugs, obesity, stress, lack of physical activity, improper nutrition. The crucial significance for prevention is the regulation of life-style, e.g. sufficient physical activity, proper nutrition and the absence of smoking. Also regular check-ups which can reveal high blood pressure, high level of cholesterol and diabetes mellitus in time are important. The prevention also includes the education focused on CVA symptoms and the need to act quickly in this case because time is crucial for the treatment of ictus. The objective of the thesis is to find out the informedness of laic public on the risk factors, prevention and symptoms of cerebrovascular accident. The hypotheses concerning the knowledge of risk factors, prevention and symptoms of cerebrovascular accident were stated. For this thesis the method of questioning by the technique of a questionnaire was chosen. The questionnaire was compiled on the basis of information gained from the professional literature; it was anonymous, designed for laic public and contained 25 closed, open and semi-closed questions, which offered the choice of particular answers and the possibility to fill in respondents{\crq} opinions. The observed group was laic public in Vysočina Region. On the whole 200 respondents were addressed during February and March 2010. The criterion for the choice of respondents was laic (non- medical) public who did not experience CVA irrespective of age and education. The rate of questionnaire return was 83% out of the total number. 22 questionnaires were excluded because they were incomplete. On the whole the data from 145 questionnaires were elaborated. The hypotheses were proved; the objective of the thesis was fulfilled. Good informedness in the area of risk factors and prevention and insufficient knowledge on the symptoms of ictus were found out. The results will be published at seminars designed for medical workers in in-patient and out-patient institutions. They might contribute to better informedness of public. Further, the results will be used as the basis for the seminar on the problems of CVA and its prevention, designed for laic public.
Convention on the Rights of the Child {--} Monitoring of Informedness in the Public
KOLÍNOVÁ, Eliška
Convention on the Rights of a Child came into being on November 20, 1989, when it was adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations Organisation (UNO). It became to be legally valid on September 2, 1990. On September 30, 1990 the world summit for children in New York took place and on this occasion, the then Czech and Slovak Federative Republic joined this Convention on the Rights of a Child. This international document in our country came into legal effect on Febr. 6, 1991. The children{\crq}s rights committee of UNO criticises the Czech Republic, that it informs insufficiently of the Convention on the Rights of a Child and for this reason the society does not know what rights this document contains. The target of the bachelor thesis is to find out if the Czech society is really insufficiently informed and if the pedagogues in the elementary school really inform their pupils on their rights sufficiently. The selected methodology was the questionnaire examination which was performed in the form of a questionnaire. 2 types of questionnaires were created, one of them for finding out to what extent the public is informed and the other one for pedagogues. The respondents of 2 towns were selected {--} Blatná and Strakonice, to be able to verify the hypothesis if the citizens of a larger town (Strakonice) are more informed than the citizens of a smaller town (Blatná). To establish if the pedagogues inform, the pedagogues of the Elementary School of Jan Amos Komenský in Blatná were addressed. I think the postulated targets of the thesis were met. The research confirmed all the hypotheses. The public is insufficiently informed. The extent of knowledge is lower in a small town than in a larger town. The pedagogues inform insufficiently the pupils about the Convention on the Rights of a Child. The recommendation following from this thesis is that the state should start to inform more the wide public. For this purpose the public education should be carried out by means of leaflets, talks of parents with their children, television spots and firsts of all the instructions of the rights of children, following from Convention on the Rights of a Child shall be involved obligatory into the teaching in elementary school.
Patient´s familiarity with their rights on surgery section of hospital in Znojmo.
ZEJDOVÁ, Lucie
The thesis provides a survey on awareness of patients in the surgical department in hospital of Znojmo. The patient who is sufficiently informed of the risks, of treatment or the options available can behave actively in the event of any discontent and discomfort if it is necessary. The informed patient can also chose the health care facility where he (she) will feel safe. The sufficiently informed patient becomes a client able to decide freely whether to run the risks and inconvenience often associated with the treatment. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the issue of patients´ awareness. Attention is focused on patients in a surgical department where the majority of patients undergo invasive surgical procedures and therefore they should be properly informed about their health condition, the nature of surgery and other related rights. The thesis is divided into four chapters in which characteristics of surgical departments, fundamental rights of the patient together with the legislation focused on this issue and on possible risks in communication between medical staff and patients are described. The objective of the practical part was to determine to what extent patients are informed of their rights. Hypothesis 1 assumes that patients are adequately informed of their rights. Hypothesis 2 assumes that patients in surgical departments utilize their rights. To verify or reject these hypotheses quantitative research conducted through the interrogation method (questionnaire technique) and methods of documents analysis (secondary data analysis) were used. The objective was achieved. The patients themselves may seek the information at least on their fundamental rights and apply the rights in the health sector. Greater awareness of patients can also be achieved through a proactive approach on the part of both patients and health professionals.
The role of the nurse by patient with Holter transmitted home
ČEČKOVÁ, Monika
Diseases of the cardiovascular system rank among the most frequent causes of death. This thesis called ``The role of the nurse taking care of patients with the Holter monitor when they are discharged home`` deals with this non-invasive examination of the cardiovascular system. Timely diagnostics is of high importance to show a number of diseases. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with diseases of the cardiovascular system. The diseases mentioned include: the syncope, arrhythmia, ischemic heart disease and hypertension. Further, it deals with the non-invasive examination by means of the Holter monitor, which is connected with the diseases mentioned before. This is followed by informing the patient in connection with this examination, communication skills of the medical staff with the patient and the education in this non-invasive examination. The practical part of the thesis lays down three objectives. The first objective was to find out whether patients with the Holter monitor, when being discharged home, have sufficient information on this examination. The second objective focused on nurses, and finding out the way nurses view their role as the educator of the patients with the Holter monitor. The third objective was to find out whether patients were afraid of this examination. Next, three hypotheses were set up. The first hypothesis supposed that nurses working in outpatient and inpatient cardiac care facilities had enough information on the electrocardiograph monitoring and blood pressure by means of the Holter monitor. The second hypothesis supposed patients with the Holter monitor, when being discharged home had sufficient information on this examination. The third hypothesis supposed that nurses educated patients with the Holter monitor on discharging them home. All objectives were fulfilled and hypotheses confirmed. To fulfil the objectives and confirm the hypotheses, I used the quantitative method. To collect data I used a questionnaire for patients and another one for nurses. The research set consisted of nurses working in selected outpatient facilities of the Kardiologie Medipont s.r.o. and Kardioecho s.r.o. in České Budějovice and in selected inpatient cardiac care facilities. Further, a questionnaire investigation with patients with the Holter monitor from the same health care facilities as the nurses. 80 questionnaires were handed out to patients and 80 questionnaires to the nurses. 53 questionnaires were given back by the patients and 39 questionnaires by the nurses. This thesis could acquaint the public and medical staffs with the prevention and symptoms of cardiovascular diseases, thus attracting their attention to the importance of timely diagnostics and treatment. Further, it could be of beneficial to inform the health care facilities the survey was conducted in, with the results. Nurses have a lot of roles during their work. Their role as the educator, which undoubtedly ranks among them, is essential in the diagnostics by the Holter monitor.
