Understanding all the components, their functions and the whole concept provided the opportunity to explain the applicability of escape rooms in education, specifically to outline the possibilities and limits of escape rooms. These have been described from both a technical and a pedagogical perspective. Escape rooms have been put in the context of pedagogical theory, where they have found support both in the curriculum and in other pedagogical principles. The roles of both teacher and students in this regard were characterized.
