The conception of hero in fantasy literature

ZBIEJCZUKOVÁ, I. The conception of hero in fantasy literature. Diploma thesis. Prague: ÚČLLV FF UK, 2010-2011. This diploma thesis deals with typology of heroes and heroins in fantasy literature, with special regard to heroic quest from the point of view of literally composition. One part of the thesis applies to the defition and history of fantasy genre in both anglo-saxon and czech environment. The thesis therefore uses and cites both czech and foreign fantasy literally works. The aim of the thesis is to point to archetypical neomythic structure of fantasy texts and to their tendency to recreate heroism using particular examples of fantasy literature.
Day dreaming

Annotation: Kaločová, V.: Day dreaming /MA thesis/ Praga 2010 - The Charles University, Pedagogical Faculty, Department od Art Education This work studies the area of day dreaming in the context of general education as well as visual arts education. It views day dreaming mainly as a device to develop creative thinking, and highlights its contribution to and importance for education as well as for personal character development, pointing out also the negative sides. In this thesis day dreaming is defined within psychology, pedagogy and artphiletics in a way that could be inspiring and contributing for education. In visual arts, dreaming is stressed especially there where painting coincides with poetry, and where it opens doors leading to creation of new worlds between consciousness and unconsciousness. Furthermore, this work deals with so-called "artwork dreaming", as a preparatory phase of artworks. The main issue of the theoretical part is poetics of day dreaming, which, as well as this work, tries to develop personal courage for creative thinking. Poetic dreaming is viewed as the highest, which contrives to stimulate us, harmonizes our senses, and helps us dwell in this world. The Fictional World of Sapkowski´s Witcher

The bachelor thesis is focused on fictional world of Andrzej Sapkowski in a way, in which has the author created it for his series of books called The Witcher Saga. Thesis is presenting a concept of narrative semantics in a way how does Lubomír Doležel explain it in his book Heterocosmica fiction and possible worlds. What follows after mentioning of his concept is the analysis of Sapkowski's world with some of the methods presented by Doležel. It becomes clear that if there is some repetitive element in The Witcher Saga, it is definitely connectivity, whether it is link to the real world, another fictional world or The Saga itself.
Classic and authorial fairy tale in kindergarten

Aim: My thesis shall reveal which form of fairy-tales is the favourite one for preschool children. My effort is to find out which styles of fairy tales children return to. Solution: I applied qualitative method of interviewing children about the read fairy-tale for my survey. Continually, I used the method of participant observation while monitoring the interest in artwork contained in books. Subsequently, children selected the favourite books. The method of participant observation was applied again in this part. Results: Through the realized survey, I found that a classic fairy-tale is an unsubstitutable element in children development. However, it must be presented in such a language form which is comprehensible for children. Illustrations accompanying the story are very useful. Author's fairy-tale affects children very significantly so it is necessary to choose topics of appropriate quality. Both types of fairy-tales are indispensable factors for proper development of intellectual, emotional and ethical part of child's character and they are interesting and stimulating for children. Benefits of the thesis: The results of the thesis allow organizing and realizing activities in nurseries in a way that is suitable and valuable for children. It shows the way how to handle the fairy-tale genre within education for preschool children.
Map Generator for Fantasy RPG

The aim of this work is to develop a generator of maps used in fantasy role-playing games. The issues of map processing and map creation in real world are described. The work also discuss a number of approaches to map generation in computer games, mind games or board games. Next, a program based on generation of Voronoi diagram is presented, which serves as map creation software. The generator has the means to place objects on map randomly, using user commands, or place objects to specific place using graphical user interface. Generator is implemented in Javascript, which enables the program to be run in web browser on many different devices.
The Amputee

Cut out the insect body, which in turn draws attention to detail and a separate form object, it becomes a piece of the unknown, futuristic world, who is a snippet of an enlargement of our macrocosm. Statue focuses on the unusual and the idea of the individual and points to a less pronounced nature.
Intuition, imagination and rationality in fine arts

The thesis deals mainly with intuition, imagination and racionality in connection of world modern painting of the 19th century, to art 21st century. These three concepts are in the beginning explained from the perspective of psychology. This task handle art international and a Czech artists, in a deeper context passes various art directions and clarifies how much were important for these three terms, and how much is influenced in their development. Of modern art are chosen three art techniques for didactic part. Collage, frottage and overprint are divided into three classes. Didactic product will be important for the creation of a practical part, so seven oil paintings on canvas about size 50 x 70 cm.
The Elements of Medieval Romance in C.S.Lewis´s Chronicles of Narnia

This thesis deals with the interpretation of Lewis' fantasy stories for children. The main attention is dedicated to the influence of the medieval romance and its crucial theme: the hero´s journey and adventure associated with the search for the source of life. The first chapters concentrate on the life experience of the author (the importance of literature and religion) and the general characteristics of romance as a genre. The main part of this thesis concentrates on the literary analysis, which includes the links between the traditional elements of romance and the elements of religious allegory (the themes of death and rebirth, emptiness and imagination, good and evil, man and God).
Fantasy as a Resource for Drama Education Lesson

This thesis focuses on the genre of fantasy and its potential as a resource in drama education, exploring it both theoretically on basis of academic sources as well as practically by means of several self-constructed individual lesson plans aimed at internal group development. These lesson plans are based on three works of fiction: J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, or There and Back Again, J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series and N. Gaiman's Stardust. All of the drama lessons presented in the paper are graded according to their target participants' age, difficulty levels of the drama methods they comprise and/or degree of the particular lesson's interconnectedness with the original story. Additionally, each of the lessons is written with different objectives in mind, focusing predominantly on aims within the scope of drama education and personal and social education, as well as those of literature study. The lesson plans were implemented in drama lessons with elementary school pupils of varying ages (6-14 years) and evaluated in the form of detailed written reflections.
Gamification and fantasy games as a tool of news portal`s page views increasing

A topic of my thesis is gamification and fantasy games. The main goal of this research was analyzing the situation in Czech Republic and finding out if fantasy games have an influence on a reading of sport servers. In theory part of this project, gamification and fantasy games are clearly defined. The biggest gamification projects in the world are introduced, as well as the trials of gamification in Czech Republic and a chosen game from abroad. In practical part, the situation on Czech Republic's fantasy games market is analyzed, the two biggest representatives are compared and an influence on reading of sport servers is researched.
