Visual Perception and Phonological Forms of Lexemes in the Czech Sign Language (A Frequency Analysis of Selected Parameters of Signs)
Klabanová, Lucie ; Richterová, Klára (advisor) ; Nováková, Radka (referee)
This bachelor work deals with problems of constraints in sign languages, especially the constraints of visual perception. Part of the work is an overview of general knowledge about constraints in sign languages. There are also presented results of frequency analysis of selected sign parameters in some foreign sign languages. Included is also knowledge gained from studies aimed at identifying locations of visual interest while watching sign language. Within own practical research, there are analyzed signs of three areas of Czech sign language: colours, calendar and time units and family, in terms of sign typology, handshape and location of articulation. There is also an experiment focused on detection visual locations of interest, while watching Czech sign language with occurrence of Czech finger alphabet. Keywords: Czech Sign Language, visual perception, constraints, location of articulation, handshape, type of sign

Art provides the possibility of specific and multilateral influences on the personality development of preschool children. This work aims to instruct, through creative development techniques, ways to achieve the pre-defined pages of childrens' personalities in kindergarten during one school year. There have been positive changes in cognitive and emotional levels concerning the development of social relations, and also the deepening sense of personal feelings and ability to express both verbal and artistic creation.

OF BACHELOR THESIS Name: Veronika Hejzlarová Name of thesis: The Rivermead Perceptual Assessment Battery: Its use with the people after a brain damage in relation to a performance in ADL Abstract: This thesis deals with problems of perception. It talks about the standardized test battery The Rivermead Perceptual Assessment Battery and its use in patients after brain damage. It is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part summarize issues about disorders of perception, information about the test battery and its relation to activities of daily living. The practical part show its practical use in two patients after brain damage. Key words: The Rivermead Perceptual Assessment Battery Standardized assessment Perception Visual Perception Performance in ADL

Preferential attitudes of children to the image of a schoolteacher
ŠULCOVÁ, Jitka
The image of a teacher is the basic element for obtaining children's confidence. It brings the first immediate information about the teacher's personality but it also plays an important role after a child has learnt about the teacher's personal qualities. The aim of this work was to find out the preschool children's preferences and attitudes to a teacher's image, especially to reveal appearance categories that children consider important (in the both positive or negative meaning) or that they ignore, and how they explain their choice. The theoretical part characterizes a preschool child; it deals with visual and social perception, human personality, and self-interpretation. The methodological part specifies basic terminology related to the research topic (such as qualitative research, grounded theory, method of interview). The method of the qualitative research was used in the practical part in which the sets of black-and-white and colour images of volunteers (portraits and figures of potential kindergarten teachers) were repeatedly presented to a representative group of children. The results of the positive and negative choices and also the reasons of the choices were recorded and obtained data were graphically analyzed. The data analysis clarifies that neither overall image of volunteers nor the colour of clothing do play an important role in the respondents' choices. In the primary decision, the respondents pay more attention to the hair style of volunteers. They prefer neat blond hair (especially in a ponytail) whereas eccentricity (atypical haircut or colour) discourages the respondents. It is also obviuos that the respondents focus on details, such as shape of earrings and glasses, the way of wearing a scarf, images on the T-shirt and etc.) which influence the respondents' choice in a significant way.
Set of geometric objects as a form of teaching aids
VLKOVÁ, Veronika
In the theoretical part of the thesis it is explained the requirements of teaching aids. These tools are designed for children in grammar art schools and high schools of art. The work deals with the methods of teaching that are closely connected with teaching aids, e. g. senses of perception, description and examples of tools, mediation curriculum, teaching lessons a logical construction, etc. The result is a set of variable methodological tools following learned.
Issues in the research of visual space perception: The geometry of visual space, relationship between the spatial descriptors, and the metric vs. ordinal data
Šimeček, Michal ; Šikl, Radovan
In the article, the authors summarize the main results of their research activity in the field of visual space perception. In the particular experimental projects, they focused on the relationship between the partial spatial descriptors in the process of forming the complex three-dimensional percept. Also, the geometry of the optical space was dealt in with respect to the Euclidean geometry of the physical space. The principle finding concerns the notion of anisotropic curvature of visual space. Finally, the question of plausibility of experiments requiring the perceptual judgements as expressed in metrical units (Euclidean tasks) was raised. The reason for this approach being used is to gather data directly comparable with the physical properties of space. On the other hand, in Euclidean tasks, the ecological validity of knowledge gained is inevitably limited and the danger of intrusion of nonperceptual factors is pervasive.
Constraints as an organizing principle of perception
Šikl, Radovan ; Šimeček, Michal
Human visual perception is far from being an exact copy of reality. For the observer, it is much more important to dispose of relevant and immediately usable information. In fact, the accuracy allowing the safe interactions through the environment is sufficient. The perception always mirrors the life style, i.e., it is optimalized for managing the requirements of everyday situations. These requirements have gradually modified the human visual system in the course of evolution and also led to the forming of internal constraints (presuppositions).
Perception and production of graphic design in different cultures
Čermák, Radim ; Sigmund, Tomáš (advisor) ; Krsek, Libor (referee)
The modern world is more and more dependent on information. As grows its importance, so does its quantity. That is why the good communication, especially the visual one, is indispensable for the proper disclosure and addressing of potential recipients of information. Graphic design provides the form of visual communication. The interconnection of different cultures is linked with the quick pace of globalization - thus the communication with different cultures is important. Each culture is based on specific values that can vary and very often do to a great extent. These values are then reflected in all areas of human activity, graphic design included. At first, we define the term culture and have a look at the process by which we acquire it - to find out its influence on us. We use as a means the interdisciplinary approach which draws knowledge on cognitive science, neuroscience, psychology and anthropology. Next, we focus on the principles of visual perception and studies concerning the difference in behavior and visual perception in different cultures. We divide the world on the basis of culture-shape events into different cultural units and we analyze graphic design in different cultures by using the knowledge from the previous chapters. We point out the principles and potential pitfalls of symbols and colors in the communication with other cultures. We describe the way how the paradigm of cultural values is reflected in the graphic design and we try to capture the features of visual communication typical for each culture.
