This bachelor's thesis Annotated Translation: La phonétique (J, Vaissière, 2006, Paris, PUF) is composed of two main parts. The first part presents a translation of the selected chapters of the book La phonétique written by Jacqueline Vaissière. The text was translated from the French language into the Czech language. The second part is a commentary consisting of an analysis of the original text and a description of the methods of translation and the most significant problems of translation that occurred during the translation process. Linguistic aspects of translating informal/slang expressions in American TV series subtitles

The present study treats the problem of translating American slang and informal vocabulary into Czech. Its aim is to explain why this kind of vocabulary can be difficult to translate and to compare two different approaches to the task. It works with material excerpted from the subtitles of an American TV series, the official and the unofficial version of its translation. The experimental part brings information on the incidence of different types of mistakes and it identifies the main tendencies of the translators in dealing with various problems. The final part characterizes the strategies of individual translators, commenting on their strong and weak points.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to translate selected chapters from the book of Jean Catinus - La Bolive and to make a commentary of the translation. The commentary consists of five parts: translation analysis using the method of Christiane Nord, conception of translation based on the theory of Jiří Levý, analysis of selected translation problems and their solutions, translation procedures by Alena Tionová and lastly, principal translation shifts which occurred during the translation.

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na překlad učebního textu z oblasti elektrotechniky. Práce má za cíl přeložit a analyzovat odborný učební text a je rozdělena na tři hlavní části. V teoretické části je uvedena zejména charakteristika odborného a učebního stylu, typy překladatelských postupů, překladatelské transformace a funkční perspektiva větná. Praktická část předkládá anglický překlad úryvku ze skript a analytická část má za cíl analyzovat problémy, které se vyskytly při překladu a zhodnotit charakteristické znaky odborného učebního stylu založené na analýze tohoto překladu.
Terminology of the new Civil Code regarding to physical persons and analysis of equivalent expression in French

This thesis deals with the terminology of the new civil code from the field of natural persons, followed by the analysis of equivalent expression in French. The thesis consists of two large parts, theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part is defined the professional functional style, legal language, legal translation and methods of translation with a short digression into the Czech and French civil code. Theoretical part is dedicated to suggestions of translation of natural persons related terminology area of the new civil code. Selected terms are divided into groups according to their common features. The aim of this paper is to create equivalents of the selected terminology.
Terminology of the new Civil Code regarding to property rights and analysis of equivalent expression in French

This bachelor thesis is focused on the introduction of the new Czech terminology of the new Civil Code regarding to the property rights. The main aim of this work is to analyse the selected terminology in the field of the law of property and search for possible legal equivalents in French. The secondary aim is to describe the basics of property rights in the Czech Republic and in France. The work is divided in a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part consists of two chapters. The first one, which was prepared with the expert sources, deals with legal language. It describes its attributes and pays great attention to lexical and syntactic characteristics of Czech and French legal language. The second chapter of the theoretical part focuses on traditional translation methods which are used in the translation of legal texts and on the problems associated with them. The practical part presents, in its first chapter, the new Civil Code and focuses especially on changes in property rights. The last chapter contains an analysis of relevant terms from the area of property rights and search for their equivalents in French legal language. Supplementary to this part is a Czech-French glossary and résumé in French.
Terminology of the new Civil Code regarding to easements and analysis of equivalent expression in French

The theme of this bachelor thesis is an analysis of terms in the New Czech Civil Code from the area of servitudes and their translation into French. The thesis is divided into two parts a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part firstly deals with situating a legal language in a specialized writing style, then with its particular characteristics. Next, it depicts differences between French and Czech on an essential level, then on a legal level. At the end it shows methods of translation. The practical part chooses terms to translate which are analyzed afterwards. In the end of the analysis, there is one French equivalent attached to each original Czech term. A glossary of both terms is to be found in the end of the thesis. It contains both Czech terms and their French equivalents. A conclusion in Czech and a résumé in French summarize the whole thesis.
Comparative analysis of the Czech and French justice and analysis of the relevant French legal terminology

The aim of this bachelor thesis is the analysis and consequent comparison of two different judicial systems; Czech and French one. Considering studies of the French language, the second part of the thesis is focused on analysis of selected French legal terms and deals with difficulties appearing when translating. The thesis is divided into five parts. The first part provides some basic information about the role of judicial power within the state which is based on principle of power division. The second part then gives an insight into comparison of particular legal bases of Czech and French justice. The third part deals with the history of judicial systems of both countries. The next part is crucial, because it describes in more detail the judicial organisation in the Czech republic and in France and highlights the main similarities and differences between them. The last part contains the analysis of the selected judicial terms. The bachelor thesis is concluded by the french résumé and French-Czech glossary.

Lexical specifics of the French legal language in the area of criminal law and their translation into the Czech language are the subject of this bachelor thesis. The thesis is composed of two main parts, the theoretical and the practical one. The theoretical part provides some basic information about legal language. This part describes the difference between Czech and French legal languages. Methods and procedures of translation are mentioned here as well. The practical part focuses on the analysis of selected French legal terms and deals with the problem of their translation into the Czech language, it means into the language of a different legal system. With the support of specialized sources translation solutions of selected terms are proposed here. The bachelor thesis is concluded with French-Czech glossary.
