Study on the potential of an integrated waste-to-energy unit
Freisleben, Vít ; Turek, Vojtěch (referee) ; Jegla, Zdeněk (advisor)
This diploma thesis is focused on the design of technological modifications of the existing industrial unit „waste-to-energy“, used for thermal treatment of process waste gases containing VOC and CO while flue gas is produced. The main objective of the existing unit modification is to improve its operating parameters considering economy, ecology and energy utilization. In the first part, the current industrial plant was presented with all necessary process data. Furthermore, all the key equipment used for the waste gases treatment or for the utilization of waste heat was identified. In the main part of the thesis there are performed modifications of the existing unit including the technology of existing heat exchangers intensification, the design of new and more efficient heat exchangers and finally the catalytic oxidation technology implementation for the decomposition of pollutants contained in the waste gas. The result of the thesis is a technical, economic and ecological comparison of the proposed technological modifications with the existing operation.
Air quality in buildings
Kops, Tomáš ; Uher, Pavel (referee) ; Rubinová, Olga (advisor)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to find out by measuring the production of carbon dioxide that man produces in various types of physical activity. Using the model, the goal is to simulate real carbon dioxide production for a type object and to design a way of automatic regulation, air supply and drainage to obtain better indoor environment (represented by carbon dioxide).
Design of heat source for heating
Janata, Petr ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to design a heat source for family house. First chapter describes heat sources that are available for heating. Their advantages and weaknesses are presented. Based on heat loses, seven variants are selected, which are economically compared.
Ventilation and air-conditioning in a mixed-use building with dental offices
Truksa, Ondřej ; Hejčík, Jiří (referee) ; Charvát, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of the master’s thesis was to design ventilation and cooling systems in a three-storey mixed-use building, which contained three apartments and two dentists’ surgeries. Two independent ventilation systems were designed in the building, with respect to different purposes of the indoor spaces. The mechanical cooling system was proposed in some of the rooms to improve thermal comfort in summer. The thesis includes calculations of building heat gains, heat losses, air exchange rates and the dimensioning of the ventilation and cooling systems. The thesis also comprises design calculations and technical drawing.
Space heating and ventilation in a two-generation house
Kazda, Jan ; Hejčík, Jiří (referee) ; Charvát, Pavel (advisor)
This Master's thesis deals with the evaluation of a current state of two-generation villa and its following proposal of the optimization. Evaluation includes calculation of heat loss of a current state. Optimization is based on the reduction of heat loss in the building, pressure balance of the system, change of heat source and installation of balanced ventilation. Chapter describing regulation of technology follows and in conclusion indicative price for the whole suggested technology is calculated.
Renewal energy in HPV
Bittner, Ivo ; Kloss, Ondřej (referee) ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis deals with comprehensive study and design of recovery system of a road vehicle powered by human power. It contains an overview of different types of heat recovery devices, their characteristics, advantages, disadvantages and applicability in the construction of such a vehicle.
Analysis of fertility postponement and recuperation in Czechia based on the cohort approach
Ženíšková, Aneta ; Kocourková, Jiřina (advisor) ; Fialová, Ludmila (referee)
The main objective of this work is a cohort analysis of postponement and recuperation of fertility in the Czech Republic after 1960. Two methods were used for this purpose - basic benchmark model and relational model. The essence of the basic benchmark model is comparison of cohort cumulative fertility deviations between chosen benchmark cohort of women and other cohorts. The relational model is based on the cohort cumulative fertility deviations of cohorts from the chosen cohort related to the schedule of national standard deviations. The significant shifts in the timing of childbearing were revealed. While the first order is characterized by early fertility decline and subsequent significant fertility recuperation, the second order is characterized by a further decrease in fertility with slight recuperation. However, fertility of third and higher order continues to decline and has been found out. practically no recuperation. The second part of this work describes the respondents' answers to questions about timing of parenting. The main findings are that decisions about parenting is most influenced by whether respondents have a suitable partner, private housing and are financially secure. Most respondents postpone the birth of their first child due to the absence of a suitable partner, resp....
Heat sources for home heating
Drga, Pavel ; Špiláček, Michal (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with various heat sources for heating the family house. The first part of the thesis is a research, where the history of heating is summarized, energy sources and types of heating systems are divided and then traditional and unconventional heat sources used in domestic heating are compared. In the second part of this work are made designs of heat sources for heating a specific house. And in the end of the work is made an economic evaluation of the designs.
BMW Up-to-date SI-engines
Šroba, Roman ; Prokop, Aleš (referee) ; Dundálek, Radim (advisor)
The Bachelor’s thesis deals with modern BMW spark-ignition engines. It provides an overview of current automotive design solutions in gasoline engines. The work is focused on three main areas. The first part describes the latest and unconventional technologies used in current BMW spark-ignition engines. The second part is focused on design solutions in specific aggregates, their evaluation or comparison with contemporary competition. The last part describes the hybrid vehicles and the car manufacturer's response to emission standards with focus on the waste heat of a car.
Design of air heating system
Nagorskyi, Bogdan ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Kracík, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor thesis describes potential possibilities to substitute hot-water radiators with hot-air units with controlled air supply. Introduction part of the thesis describes basic thermal comfort factors. Subsequently, their application in traditional heating systems was performed. After that the issue of conditional heating efficiency of the original heating systems with the simultaneous application of ventilation was discussed, the analysis of which was the reason for the suitability of designing a new system of warm air heating with controlled air supply. The design of the hot-air heating system was performed for the living room of a typical panel apartment unit. During designing a new installation, the emphasis was put primarily on eliminating the main drawbacks of the hot-air heating system, namely the height distribution of the temperature layers. The system was designed in accordance with hygiene standards and its components include other air treatment elements. In the economic evaluation of the project, calculations of the possible implementation of the hot-air system and comparison with similar products commonly available on the market were made.
