The thesis, Medial image of a "refugee" in czech press deals with analysis of the image of a "refugee", which is introduced to the czech public via printed media. In theoratical part of my thesis I describe a manner, in which the reality is beeing constructed an what are the mechanisms of media cummunication. In the research part of my thesis were for specific documentation of the image of a refugee chosen two time periods: The second half of the year 2015 as an apex of the refugee crisis and the second half of the year 2017 where this so called crisis slowly diminishes. With a help of qualitative content analysis of the newspaper articles of theese two periods I research what image of a "refugee" the media had constructed and how that image changed in time. The media chosen for this analysis are the daily newspaper Blesk and the daily newspaper Mladá fronta DNES, because a half of the readers reads one of theese journals, therefore they can influence perception of the image of a refugee with the largest number of the readers. The Attitudes of Students of Czech Universities to Refugees
SOUKUPOVÁ, Edita
The Bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of refugees and current attitudes of Czech university students, male and female, towards this issue. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part which is elaborated on the basis of reference sources and defines important terms that are necessary for proper understanding of the issue. This part aims to clarify the issue of refugees. It also addresses important Czech and international legislation on this topic. Furthermore, it deals with what refugees are going through when they arrive in the destination country. The practical part is elaborated in the form of quantitative research with the use of questionnaire technique. The questionnaire investigates the opinions and attitudes of Czech male and female university students to refugees and the current migration crisis and what factors influence these attitudes. The data was obtained through a questionnaire distributed electronically to respondents for 20 days during February 2017. A canonical corresponding analysis (CCA) was carried out using Canoco 5 programme to process the data. The questionnaire was sent to male and female university students in the Czech Republic. Participation was voluntary and anonymous. In the introduction, respondents were informed that the questionnaire would be used for research purposes only as part of a Bachelor's thesis. They were also informed about the Bachelor's thesis. Questions were formulated to show what the attitudes are of Czech male and female university students towards refugees. Questions were asked to discover whether the students were willing to accept refugees in the Czech Republic, provide assistance to them, and whether they were worried about refugees. It was also important for the research whether they were well informed about important terms such as "refugee" and "migrant". The following hypothesis was formulated: "Students of Czech universities who are already working and living on their own have a friendly attitude towards refugees." This hypothesis was confirmed in the quantitative research. Students who are not financially supported by their parents during their studies would accept refugees in the Czech Republic and provide them with some help. Moreover, they are not worried about refugees and are interested in the current migration crisis. The second hypothesis was formulated as follows: "Students of Czech universities who have studied abroad have a friendly attitude towards refugees." This hypothesis was also confirmed in the quantitative research. Students who have studied abroad as part of their studies would accept refugees in the Czech Republic, provide them with some help, they are not worried about refugees and are interested in the current migration crisis.
Téma uprchlictví v denících Mladá fronta Dnes a v Hospodářských novinách
ANDĚL, Marek
The topic most frequently covered in the Czech media in 2015 was the migration crisis. This topic is treated in the present thesis by means of frame analysis, resulting in a description of a phenomenon of how media compete for a higher share of the press market through presentation of migration crisis. The research is based on articles on the topic of refugee crisis published in two Czech dailies, Mladá Fronta Dnes and Hospodářské noviny. Applying the concept of frame analysis, the author attempts to compare how and how frequently the two dailies covered the topic in 2015, provides an outline and historical background of the period, and describes the methods employed in the research, in particular the above-mentioned frame analysis.

Population development and emigration of Maghreb's countries Abstract The main aim of diploma thesis is to map the migratory situation and trends of all area since 1990 up to the present in context of the population development in region of Maghreb's countries. This all is in connection with the population growth of the states - natural and total. Apart from the analysis of the whole Maghreb as one unit, the demographic parameters are in detail assessed on the example Tunisia. It is estimated that migratory streams of the inhabitants of North Africa's countries are largely directed to Europe. The analasis is focused on the breakdown of the target countries, emigrants and on changes during the reporting period. The analasis uses conventional demographic indicators, its own methods of processing often difficult available data at the same time and empirical investigation. The initial basis of analyzing given issues show the theoretical conception of population development in Arabic countries, with emphasis on demographic transition and dependent migratory transition. The Status of Palestinian Refugees and Their Right to Return in International Law
Hanko, Jitka ; Šturma, Pavel (advisor) ; Bílková, Veronika (referee) ; Jílek, Dalibor (referee)
The situation of Palestinian refugees is one of the most burning issues related to the Arab-Israeli conflict. Its solution is at the same time one of the key conditions for the settlement of this conflict, whose beginning may be traced back already in connection with the first alija - the first wave of Jewish immigration after the anti - Semitic pogroms in 1881. The importance of this problem is confirmed e.g. by the text of the Resolution 242 (S/RES/242) of 1967, which considers the upright solution for Palestinian refugees as one of the prerequisites for lasting peace in the Middle East. This question has been subject of many peace negotiations between the representatives of the concerned states lately, which only illustrates the high international topicality of the given problem. The aim of the dissertation is to define the term Palestinian refugee in the historic, political and legal context and in this connection to determine the position of Palestinian refugees in international law as an initial point, which is followed by the international law analysis of their right to return. First part of the study therefore will try to make a systematic overview in the extent of the term Palestinian refugee. The second part of the dissertation analyses the right of return in the general level and then...
Migration and its social construction in approaches of political parties in the Chamber of Deputies in the Czech Republic
Burešová, Zdeňka ; Novotný, Vilém (advisor) ; Jelínková, Marie (referee)
Migration is a phenomenon which has strong impact on the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic is currently under transformation from transit country to immigration country. At the present time the situation is even more complicated because of the migrant crises which impact all of us. I suppose that the Members of Parliament will create social constructions or narratives about migrants during the sitting of parliament. I aim to identify social constructions of migrants that are created by the Czech political parties represented in the Chamber of Deputies since the 2013 election. I will divide social construction into two main groups. Ones belong to migrants and the other ones to refugees. I would like to find out if there are more positive or negative social constructions and how are benefits and punishments distributed to these groups. I would like to discover key narratives of particular political negotiation as well. Theoretical background of this thesis is the social construction of target population theory of Anne Schneider and Helen Ingram. In the manner of Lina Newton's article "It is not a question of being anti-immigrant: Categories of deservedness in immigration policy making", I will use a combination of discursive and narrative analysis as the main method. I will analyse statements and...
