Zahirović, Hasan ; SÍLOVÁ, Zuzana (advisor) ; HYVNAR, Jan (referee)
In the countries of the former Yugoslavia , the works of Karel Čapek (1800-1938) are considered "complex but eternal" This is evidenced by the large number of articles about him and his work in newspapers and othe publications. Although better known today for his children´s books, even now, more than seventy years afte his death, Čapek continues to be read and enjoyed in general because of his artistry, his vision, and the originality of ideas. Čapek´s works became available very early, in 1921, in the countries of the former Yugoslavia . He was best known as a playwright at first and his six plays were repeatedly staged at all Yugoslav theatres
Phenomenon of Anxiety in Beckett's Endgame
Horčicová, Zdeňka ; KOUBOVÁ, Alice (advisor) ; MUSILOVÁ, Martina (referee)
My master thesis inspects the phenomenon of anxiety in Samuel Beckett's Endgame. In this thesis, anxiety is seen from the phenomenological perspective . However, the explanation of anxiety by psychology and psychiatry is offered as well, so that more complex understanding is enabled. An analysis of Beckett's play is highly influenced by phenomenology, especially by Martin Heidegger, and also by the daseinsanalysis. In these connotations, we inspect Endgame, especially the situation of characters on the stage and the world of the play itself as a mirroring of the real world. We show that human existence is one of the most significant sources of anxiety, that it is innate to almost every human being from time to time, and that it has a remarkable dramatic potential. Although there is no final explication of Beckett's play, my thesis attempts to get closer to its understanding through the phenomenon of anxiety. As a part of this thesis, the translation of one part of Stanley Cavell's essay called Ending the Waiting Game is included, which tries to explain the meaning of Endgame in a different way.
Metamorphoses of Phaedra´s Confession of Love
Křápková, Lucie ; KYSELOVÁ, Eva (advisor) ; JOBERTOVÁ, Daniela (referee)
This Bachelor thesis looks into changes of dramatical rendition of the myth about Phaedra in terms of her confession of love. It compares four dramatical texts: tragedy Hippolytus by the greek playwright Euripides, play Phaedra by roman dramatist L. A. Seneca, tragedy Phedre by Jean Racine and Sarah Kane's Phaedra's Love. It determines changes of the relations and motives of the main characters projected into Phaedra's confession. It pays attention mostly to the analysis of the texts themselves but at the same time it does not turn from the main characteristic of these four dramatists, nor social context of creation of these plays.

Dramatic text as an ideological direction
Součková, Kateřina ; ETLÍK, Jaroslav (advisor) ; DROZD, David (referee)
Bachelor thesis Dramatic text as an ideological direction deals with an impulses, which can offer a dramatic text to a dramatic piece without endanger an autonomy neither of them. In order to find the ideological direction, it uses an explication as a "technological reading" of dramatic text, which is trying to discover its own motif-thematic structure without interpreted it. It analyses a charakter and a function of components of dramatic text, their mutual relation and their relation with a dramatic piece. This theoretic basis is being examinated by the explication of The Cherry Orchard by A. P. Chekhov. The motifs and the themes of this drama are confronted with the production of The Cherry Orchard at Theatre on the Balustrade in Prague. On grounds of this comparison it tries to find out, how much is connected the relation of their basic themes with the relation between a dramatic text and a dramatic piece in general.
