Vyhodnocení emisí amoniaku z chovu drůbeže ve vybraném zemědělském podniku
HUCEK, Jiří
This diploma thesis deals with pollutants that escape into the air during intensive breeding of broiler chickens. The biggest polluter is ammonia gas, which mainly results in the creation of the greenhouse effect and thus contributes to global warming. Many scientists are working on ways to reduce this unwanted gas, and are therefore developing modern stables technologies for all types of livestock on intensive farms. The final work evaluates the production of emissions from broiler farming. In particular, the evaluation of the annual ammonia emissions and the reduction of the production of this gas in the selected agricultural holding. The measurement was performed at the private agricultural company ZEFA Nová Pec, spol. s r. o. in the broiler chicken farm, located near Strunkovice nad Blanicí.
Gastrointestinální parazité v polodivokém chovu exmoorských koní v rezervaci Mašovice v NP Podyjí
KLIMEŠOVÁ, Ludmila
The issue of parasites, whether internal or external, is one of the most important indicators of animal health and overall well-being. Exmoor ponies kept in semi-wild breeding are not regularly dewormed compared to horses in classic breeding. Thus, it is likely that the proportion of gastrointestinal parasites will be higher here. The aim of this work is to evaluate the state in the reservation of the former Mašovice shooting range in the Podyjí National Park. The hypothesis of this work is the determination of individuals with the highest infection, evaluation of seasonal dynamics of parasitic egg hatching within seasons and comparison with similar breeds.
Návrh 3D modelu reálného ustájení skotu pro potřeby počítačových simulací
MALÝ, Vítězslav
This master's thesis focuses on the creation of 3D model of real cattle housing. The model is meant to serve the needs of computer simulations in the future. The model's creation is based on a template of sample barn meant for 300 dairy cows. The drawing documentation of the barn's building serves as a basis for the creation of the model. The barn's model is made using a 3D modeling technology. For the creation of the model is used a free student version of the computer programme SolidWorks. The theoretical part of this thesis introduces the principles of animal welfare, different types of cattle housing, automatic systems in livestock farming and computer simulations. The practical part of this thesis contains the procedure of creation of individual parts of the model, their compilation and the final 3D model of the barn.

Subsequent care for permanently handicapped animals of selected species
KONVALINOVÁ, Alena
Subject of bachelors paper you are about to read is problematics of permanently handicapped animals held in captivity. Focusing on species of Central Europe habitat and research of this phenomena in animal rescue stations. Paper aggregates scientific aproaches towards breeding of captured animals and utilisation for environmental education and reintroduction. It also proposes options for how to treat these animals while avoiding abuse, limit harmful stress and stereotype and allowing animals to fulfil their natural biological needs. Summarising current state of breeding permanently handicapped animals in animal rescue stations, conditions of their environment and methods of aftercare. On example of imprinted Common Raven (CorvusCorax) shows influence of methods like systematic positive training and enrichment on its behaviour, activity and restraint of aggressiveness towards caretakers.
Hodnocení welfare koní pomocí moderní aplikace AWINHorse
ZASADIL, Petr
In horse breeding, great attention is paid to the quality of stabling and care. Our current times bring a number of applications designed to assess breeding welfare, one such application available being AWINHorse, the subject of the present bachelor thesis. The aim of this thesis was to explore the application possibilities of the AWINHorse application, assess the difficulty of its usage and evaluate the results in the form of its output graphs. Subsequently, solutions to problem areas were to be recommended to the assessed breeding farms. The AWINHorse application was used in assessment of four stables with the combined number of 32 horses. The application evaluates the four main pillars of welfare: stabling, feeding, health and etology, using questionnaires filled out for each stabled horse separately. The output presents a graph showing ten evaluated breeding criteria as compared to a reference population. Only three of the ten criteria were assessed to 100% at all of the stabling sites, i.e. availability of movement, absence of pain and manifestations of social behaviour. None of the stabling farms gained full marks on feeding as excess of weight occurred at three of them and a slightly undernourished subject was found in the fourth. The second worst-marked criterion was in attitude towards people in which only one of the facilities scored 100%. It was found that the application is of good utility to horse breeders. The application also provides good guidance and its use will bring the breeders the possibility to systematically monitor the quality of their breeding. Regular use of the application will also contribute to systematic monitoring of the horses' health. In regard to the size of breeding farms in the Czech Republic, it would be appropriate to lower the numbers of monitored horses and their age. The utilization rate would also benefit from a translation of the extensive and illustrative guide into the Czech language.
Possibilities for development of Zoo Jihlava from the point of view of visitors
STRAKOVÁ, Aneta
The thriving zoo provides excellent animal husbandry and care, as well as an offer of unusual experiences, education and quality of services for their visitors. The presented work deals with the possibilities of potential development of the Jihlava Zoo from the visitors' point of view. The main aim of my work was to assess the possibilities of spatial and technological development with regard to their wishes. In addition to the analysis of the results, the diploma thesis contains specific recom-mendations for the future development of the zoo. The evaluation of the results took place on the basis of a questionnaire survey, which was attended by 400 respondents from among the visitors of the Jihlava Zoo. Of the innovations proposed by the zoo, respondents expressed the greatest interest in its spatial growth and new restaurant facilities. According to the respondents, it is appropriate to extend the zoo to the area of the former textile factory. In their opinion, it is the best way to make use of it. The industrial area could be used for a new pavilion and a large-capacity restaurant. Visi-tors would also welcome combined indoor exhibits with outdoor enclosures for animals.
Visitor perception of ZOO mammals welfare
SMRČKOVÁ, Nela
Welfare of animals, which means well-being of animals or a state of total physical and mental health of an animal that should be in harmony with its habitat, is a very essential aspect in keeping animals in captivity be it farm animals, fur animals, circus animals or animals kept in the zoological gardens. The aim of my thesis is to find out how much the visitors to the zoo are interested in welfare of mammals kept in the zoo which I personally chose. Another aim of my thesis is the identification of potential differences in perception of welfare of animals among various groups of visitors to the zoological gardens. The work was carried out in a zoo where there are more than 80 mammals kept. The results will be processed from primary data, which will be aquired from a questionnaire survey among zoo visitors after finishing their visit.to the zoo. Visitors of various age groups will be asked in an effort to equally represent both genders. The data will be processed using descriptive and comparative statistics.
Justification and Limits of State Coercion in Liberal Democracies: Reconciling Binding Welfare State Policies and a Reformed Classical Liberalism
Wedekind, Peter ; Salamon, Janusz (advisor) ; Fiorctos, Karl Orfeo (referee) ; Simon, Stephen A. (referee)
CHARLES UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES Institute of Political Studies Department of Political Science Peter Wedekind Justification and Limits of State Coercion in Liberal Democracies: Reconciling Binding Welfare State Policies and a Reformed Classical Liberalism Dissertation Thesis Abstract - English Prague 2022 Abstract In this thesis I defend the claim that classical liberalism has the capacity to justify meritocratic state policies that promote greater equality of opportunity. Correspondingly, I adopt an approach uncommon among scholars following the tradition of classical liberalism, given that I conclude with a position that is more frequently associated with the postulates of social welfare egalitarians, such as publicly funded higher education. This strategy serves as a reply to contemporary critiques of liberal democracies and implies that liberalism is endowed with the tools to address the flaws its own (neoliberal) manifestation has brought about. Skyrocketing socio-economic inequalities as well as the marketization trend which, among other things, crowds-out the traditional values of higher education and corrupts a public institution crucial for social mobility into a privilege of plutocratic elites, are just two examples. To support this argument, I discuss several consecutive claims:...
The issue of cruelty and other inappropriate treatment of animals and their protection through criminal law
Průcha, David ; Bohuslav, Lukáš (advisor) ; Vokoun, Rudolf (referee)
The issue of cruelty and other inappropriate treatment of animals and their protection through criminal law This thesis is focused on the protection of animals against cruelty and other inappropriate treatment, and its securing through criminal law within the legal order of the Czech Republic. The aim of this work was to evaluate the current level of legislation concerning animal cruelty in the sense that it is possible, especially in criminal law, but also in administrative law, to effectively detect, sanction and prevent its recurrence in the future. The aim of this thesis was also to evaluate the changes in the protection of animals against cruelty, which occurred with the adoption of Act no. 114/2020 Coll., amending Act no. 40/2009 Coll., Penal Code, as amended, and some other laws. The content of this thesis consists of a total of 10 chapters, which are further divided into subchapters. Defining the basic terms, outlining the development of legislation on animal protection and animal Welfare in the world and in the Czech Republic, and insight into supranational legislation in the field of animal protection, both at the international level and at the level of the Council of Europe and the European Union, is the content of the first four chapters, which are not crucial for the purposes of this...
