Public attitudes towards substance use and drug addiction - April/May 2023

In a survey conducted during April and May 2023, the The Public Opinion Research Centre (CVVM) asked a set of questions about public attitudes towards substance use. Respondents over the age of 15 rated the extent to which they considered it acceptable to consume certain addictive substances, specifically tobacco, alcohol, painkillers, sleeping or tranquillisers, cannabis drugs (e.g. marijuana, hashish) and drugs such as ecstasy, methamphetamine and heroin. They commented on selected statements about the problem of drug addiction, whether drug use is a problem in the Czech Republic as a whole or in their place of residence, and whether the relevant institutions in the Czech Republic deal adequately with the problem of drug use.
Czech public opinion on the rights of homosexuals - April/May 2023

In April and May 2023, a set of questions on the tolerance of Czech society towards homosexually oriented women and men was included in the regular Our Society survey. At the same time, citizens' attitudes were surveyed as to whether people with homosexual orientation should have the right to enter into registered partnerships, marry, adopt children from "institutions" - so-called children's homes, and adopt the children of their partner with whom they live and in whose upbringing they participate.

Questions focused mainly on trust in European Union in general and its concrete authorities. In connection to international institutions respondents evaluated their trust in United Nations and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.
Czech Republic’s Membership in the European Union in the Public View – April/May 2023

The press release presents some results of the April and May 2023 survey, which focused on Czech public opinion on EU membership. More than two-fifths (41%) of Czech citizens are satisfied with our country's EU membership, more than a fifth (21 %) are neither satisfied nor unsatisfied and more than a third (36 %) is unsatisfied.\nRespondents were also asked about their views on economic, political, cultural, defence, and ecological integration in the European Union.\n\nThe survey also focused on opinion to the level of integration of the EU and the role of the Czech Republic in this process. The part of this survey was also a question about the adoption of the euro.

Questions focused on the mechanism of presidential election, president's relation to the government and government appointment, on the position of president in the foreign policy and on the problems president should pay attention in his or her office.
Citizens on Constitutional Competencies of a President - June/July 2023

Summer 2023 survey made an inquiry into attitudes of citizens towards constitutional competencies of a president. Questions in the survey concerned the range of presidential competencies in general and also with regard to several particular competencies such as granting of amnesty or stopping a lawsuit, dismissing the Chamber of Deputies and refusing the law passed by the parliament.
Czech Public Opinion on Nuclear Energy – August/September 2023

In its August/Septemer 2023 survey, the Our Society series included a battery of questions on issues of nuclear energy. The survey examined public opinion about whether the proportion of nuclear energy in electricity production should increase or decrease in future, what people think about building a new unit of the Dukovany Nuclear Power Station (DNPS), whether or not they are concerned about the use of nuclear energy in the country, and whether they have confidence in the government’s decisions about the development of nuclear energy.
