It captures the period since 1952, ie since the inception of the Joint Assembly, an institution which immediately preceded the European Parliament, until the Treaty on European Union. It focuses primarily on power control, budgetary and legislative. There is recorded only their development but also the various causes that led to its change and expansion. Finally, attention is paid to the extent to which the European Parliament and the different powers applied to their application was respected by other EU institutions.
