Penyuk, Yuliya ; Kotas, Jan (advisor) ; Kuźniar, Mariusz (referee)
Rites of Christian Initiation in Byzantine and Roman Traditions. Outline of Comparison. The bachelor's thesis dwells on the rites of Christian initiation in two respective traditions: Slavonic-Byzantine and western - Roman. The author starts from a historical insight into the formation of celebration of the initiation rites from the New Testament praxis though ancient and medieval Church up to the development in last centuries. She notices changes in the celebration of Christian initiation made because of historical development or differences of rites related to various cultural settings. In the second part of the thesis, she tries to outline a comparison between current initiation rites - those of infants as well as those of adults - in both traditions. She studies the contemporary praxis from liturgical books and from other available sources in the Roman-Catholic Church as well as in the Greek-Catholic and Orthodox Churches in Eastern Europe. Keywords Christian initiation, sacraments of initiation, baptism, confirmation, myron, Eucharist, liturgy, Byzantine tradition, western tradition.
Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as an Integral Part of Priestly Spirituality
Mudra, Josef ; Sládek, Karel (advisor) ; Lorman, Jaroslav (referee)
Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as an Integral Part of the Priestly Spirituality [manuscript]: Diploma thesis / Josef Mudra; tutor: Karel Sládek. -- Prague, 2013. -- 91 pg. The submitted thesis aims to define the topic of the Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as an integral part of the identity and spirituality of a diocesan priest. The essence of the priestly vocation lies in the continuation of the presence of Christ, the only High Priest, Head of the Church. Through the Sacrament of Orders, the ordained presbyter with the grace of the Holy Spirit likens Christ - the Priest, the Master and the Shepherd and thereby he participates in the mission of Christ as the Head without refraining from being a limb of the Mystical Body. Being an apostle, he continues to be a disciple. On the contrary, his apostolate has been growing from a permanent position of discipleship. Only in the position of a constant docile listening to the Lord, the priest can be a teacher; only as a sheep which commits itself to the Good Shepherd, he could be a shepherd to the flock entrusted to him; only when being lively aware of the fact that Christ loved him and brought himself as a sacrifice, he is able to offer the daily Sacrifice together with the Lord. The priest's activity is based on the union with Christ, on...
Corpus verum et mysticum. The development of the relationship between the Eucharist and the Church in Theology from the 9 to the 12 century
Hrabánek, Lukáš ; Brož, Prokop (advisor) ; Mohelník, Tomáš (referee)
The Diploma thesis "Corpus verum et mysticum. The development of the relationship between the Eucharist and the Church in Theology from the 9th to the 12th century." is based on theological debates of the 20th century, concerning the application of the term corpus mysticum. While magisterial documents use this expression for the Church, a French theologist Henry de Lubac calls attention to the original holder - to the Eucharist. That's why this Diploma thesis is interested in a conception of the Church and the Eucharist, in their relationship and in their terminological development. It proceeds in chronological order. Initially it tries in a mentioned point of view to find and evaluate default texts in the Holy Scripture (Chapter 1), which were received by distinguished authors in the patristic period (Chapter 2). They influenced afterwards theologists of the Middle Age from 9th to 12th century. During this period the Eucharistic doctrine and the theological synthesis corpus triforme (Church, Eucharist and historical-heavenly Jesus) were being formed and developed; each of them was influencing the other one. It is possible to notice a cardinal change during the Eucharistic controversies, when the symbolic conception of Berengar of Tours was condemned by the Roman synod in 1078. That's why the...

The Eucharist in the Gospel of John
POLÁČEK, Martin
The presented work deals with the conception of the Eucharist in the Gospel of John. The first chapter is dedicated to terms of the Eucharist, the Last Supper and the Lord{\crq}s Supper and also to the existing division of possible approaches to the sacramentality in the Gospel of John. In the subsequent chapters it deals in detail with five places of the Gospel of John, that are mostly mentioned in connection with the Eucharist. It is the wedding at Cana (2,1-11), the eucharistic section (6,51-58), washing of the feet of disciples (13,1-20), the Vine and the Branches (15,1-17), opening of the side of Jesus (19,34). The work tries to solve the topic (question) in the context as wide as possible including the question of the johannine sources of inspiration. In this way it can be seen the mutual correspondence of these varios places and the deep theological conception of the hole Gospel. The replacement of the institution of the Eucharist in the thirteenth chapter with the washing of the feet and it{\crq}s displacement to {\clqq}the bread of life discourse`` in the sixth chapter is due to the proper evangelist{\crq}s intention. There was an impending danger, that the Eucharist became a magical medicine without any relation to the incarnation and the sacrifitial death of Jesus. These facts have theirs own consequences for the life of the christian community. So the subject of the sacraments has been subordinated to the christological accent.
