Treatment of Waste Water Treatment Sludge Prior of its Following Utilization
Pěček, Jan ; Klemeš,, Jiří (referee) ; Žaloudík, Petr (referee) ; Jícha, Jaroslav (advisor)
Industrial production of cellulose is an energy intensive process. Businesses aim to utilized as much input energy, materials as possible while minimizing the waste as well. In addition to the main product – cellulose and large amounts of organically polluted water which is subsequently treated in waste water treatment plants. This PhD thesis deals with formation of suitable mixing formula for sludge from cellulose production and available materials (waste) from close neighborhood of Biocel Paskov a.s. so that well balanced cofermentation products are achieved. This mainly involves grass from lawn maintenance, grass ensilage, potato peels, and leftovers from vegetable processing. Fermentation processes (both mesophilic and thermophilic) of prepared fermentation products were conducted in semi-continuous and continuous laboratory fermentation units. Reduction of organic mass depending on residence time was closely observed as well as production and quality of biogas along with quality of output digestate. Course of process behaviour under controlled pH was tested. Results of particular tests were integrated into graphs. Conclusion of the thesis presents balance scheme drawn for selected variants, and design of real fermentation station with individual buildings, operations, basic machinery and equipment description including investment costs. Financial calculation and expected investment return was conducted in two variants – without subsidies and including subsidies from Operational Programme Renewable Sources of Energy.
Criteria for evaluation of energy performance of wastewater treatment plants
Úterský, Michal ; Bartoník, Adam (referee) ; Hluštík, Petr (advisor)
The aim of the Diploma Thesis is to propose an assessment of energy-consuming criteria of wastewater treatment plant. We focus on formation of energy questionnaire that is used to evaluate the wastewater treatment plant according to the criteria, and subsequently indicate which processes increase energy consumption. Verification of proposed energy-consuming criteria was carried out with the data of an existing wastewater treatment plant.
Heat balance of anaerobic part of sewage treatment plants
Řezáč, Jaroslav ; Beňo, Zdeněk (referee) ; Pěček, Jan (advisor)
This thesis is focused on anaerobic stabilisation of sewage produced by sewage treatment plant. Mesophilic stabilisation was chosen for the sewage treatment plant . In the first chapter, main attention is dedicated to general treatise on sewage treatment plant. Anaerobic process of stabilisation, digestion tank and some of the medium are characterised there. Next chapter is dealing with thermal balance for selected version of sewage stabilisation. A proposal of digestion tank and thermal insulation is also made there. Further, heat exchanger, boiler and combined heat and power unit are projected.
Use of heat from wastewater
Tlašek, Miroslav ; Vachovec, Roman (referee) ; Hlavínek, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the problems associated with heat recovery from waste water and energy intensity of wastewater treatment plants. Current technologies allow you to recover heat that was inserted into the hot water. These technologies can be used for small performances in houses and for large building amenities too. It has been shown that by using a heat pump, low-potential heat waste water can be converted into useful heat for heating and hot water. Not only these heat pumps are environmentally friendly environments, but they can also compete with traditional sources of heat. The aim of the study was to describe these technologies and to minimize the energy that is wasted us „will drain into the canal“.
Mechanical pretanning in sewage works
Černý, Marian ; Grosman, Martin (referee) ; Němec, Zdeněk (advisor)
The bachelor thesis contains a literature search dealing with mechanical equipment of waste water treatment plants. After introduction of waste treatment there is stated some description of technical and construction search of particular equipment, system of their operating, analysis of their operation parameters and their using on waste water treatment plants in this bachelor thesis. There are described typical ordering of particular equipment in to technological lines on waste water treatment plants. The bachelor thesis contains description of self-cleaning screen, hand skimmed screen, mechanical coarse screen, mechanical fine screen, equipment for grit and sand removing, skimmed cylinder strainers, screw conveyors, screw presses for screenings with washing and integrated coarse pre-treatment. There are published some schemes, sketches, photos and tables of technical parameters above mentioned equipment in this bachelor thesis. The sketches of technical drawing character are treated in Autodesk ACAD 2005 program.
Energy performance of wastewater treatment plants
Čížová, Barbora ; Bogáňová, Ida (referee) ; Hluštík, Petr (advisor)
The retrieval part of the bachelorś thesis deals with legislation concerning energy audit and energy audit processing at wastewater treatment plants. Further work is aimed at assessing the energy performance, energy optimization and operation of energy self-sufficiency wastewater treatment plants. The practical part is focused on the comparison of the specific energy consumption for wastewater treatment in Koprivnice. The aim is to assess the energy performance of the selected indicators. This is an assessment of the m3 of waste water, kg BOD5 removed and the number of population equivalent.
The partial model of sewage treatment plant
Novák, Petr ; Ptáček, Michal (referee) ; Radil, Lukáš (advisor)
The thesis deals with wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). For the energetic self-sufficiency of the WWTP, it is necessary to study the operational background, equipment and their possible operational prediction for energy distribution over time and adaptation to any renewable energy (RES). It is also possible to optimize the operation to maximize the equalization of the input power. We're talking about small WWTPs up to 500 EP. Large purification blocks are also an option. The student will evaluate the current state of knowledge and try to design and possibly implement the financial savings of the given concept.
Unbalanced loading of small waste water treatment plants
Spurný, Martin ; Macsek, Tomáš (referee) ; Hluštík, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is focused on the evaluation of the operation of a small wastewater treatment plant. In the research section the basic design parameters of WWTP and selected indicators of waste water pollution are defined as well as their limits according to the valid legislation. In the practical part the first years of operation of the newly built wastewater treatment plant in the town of Svitávka in the South Moravian Region are evaluated. The design parameters of the treatment plant are assessed according to the real measured flow rates spread throughout the year and the values of the basic water quality indicators.
Sewage sludge drying - theory and practice
Sirový, Martin ; Elsässer, Thomas (referee) ; Houdková, Lucie (advisor)
The thesis deals with sludge drying coming from biological sewage disposal plants from theoretical and practical points of view. The first chapter deals with the sewage disposal plant functioning and with sludge formation there. Furthermore sorts and properties of water treatment sludge are described here. In the second chapter the thesis points the look to the industry drying theory and then to the theory of sludge drying. The third chapter contains a list of current drying chambers convenient for sludge drying and their principles and description. The fourth chapter points to the present practice of sludge drying in the Czech republic. Prospects of the water treatment sludge drying are evaluated in the concluding part.
Design of walkable bridges for wastewater treatment
Denk, Jakub ; Gottvald, Jakub (referee) ; Nekvasil, Richard (advisor)
This thesis focuses on design of walkable bridges for wastewater treatment plant for the company Váhala a spol. s.r.o. In the first part, there is generally described process of wastewater and technologies, which are used for this treatment the most. In following chapter, there is performed design of walkable bridges, especially supporting frame. Part of the thesis concentrates on strength analysis of the most critical components of construction by finite element method. Static computing is performed according to valid European standards – Eurocode 3. Appendixes includes samples of basic technical drawings.
