Investiční rozhodování v IT a ROI jako prostředek měření přínosů ITSM pro business

The Diploma Thesis is dealing with questions of investment decision-making in the area of IT and can be a complete guidance on the basic concepts of decision-making on the investment projects, methods of financial evaluation of such projects and the ways of its application in the sphere of IT. It is mainly aimed on the projects dealing with internal processes in IT organizations and optimalization of its management – IT Service Management (ITSM). The paper deals with existing methodologies and standards applicable to IT Service Management and closely works with the latest library of best practices ITIL V3. The introduction gets the reader into the basics of the IT management, introduces the existent market standards and creates a liaison between the IT and business in questions of investments. The second part pays attention to the principles of ITSM and describes the benefits that can process optimalization bring to the company. The third chapter opens up the IT investment topic and introduces various methodological concepts and models used not only in the classical financial theory, but in the modern management practice as well. It offers a basic overview on the methods of investment project evaluation, e.g. Net Present Value (NPV), The Payback Period Method, The Internal Rate of Return (IRR), The Profitability Index, and the most popular one – Return on Investment (ROI). The following chapter applies the measure of Return on Investment (ROI) to the projects of ITSM implementation according to ITIL. It shows the basic principles of the method usage, describes its main components and introduces the way of identification and evaluation of the benefits, which those projects bring to the business. Gained knowledge is based on the real practical examples – several worked-out business cases created for the customers of the Hewlett-Packard Company. The last part of this chapter shortly describes several software tools for building the similar business cases and their own methodology. The last chapter in devoted to the situation on the local and world market and addresses the practical application of the methods of IT projects evaluation in the companies. The conclusion then summarizes important parts and key elements of the paper.
Approaches to determining the value of public services from consumers perspective

Potřeba hledat úspory ve veřejných rozpočtech staví čím dále větší počet veřejných knihoven před úkol odpovědět na otázku po své užitečnosti. A odpovědět nikoliv ve floskulích či neměřitelných kategoriích. Je třeba odpovídat v korunách, procentech či měsících návratnosti. A je třeba nalézt odpovědi nejen na otázky užitečnosti knihovny jako celku, ale i jednotlivých služeb či jejich okruhů. Městská knihovna v Praze spolu s Univerzitou Pardubice a Univerzitou Matěja Béla v Bánské Bystrici pracují na tříletém projektu, který by měl pomoci nalézt metodiku hodnověrně prováděných výzkumů v této oblasti.

The potential for cost savings through automated packaging by potential customers of Logtech

The aim of this master thesis is to outline the decision-making process in small and medium-sized businesses for investment in automated packaging solutions using multi-criteria decision making method. The effort will also highlight some critical points, which could cause an error in decision making. Investment decision will be shown on the assessment of alternatives of automated packaging from Savoy, which is represented by the company Logtech in the Czech Republic, and comparing to competitive solutions from Lantech Solutions and NeoPack Solutions, represented by company e3neo.
Providing ICT services in the cloud

This thesis focuses on the ubiquitous cloud computing trend and particularly Software as a Service. The main goal is to specify all pros and cons of this concept for its customers and also cloud providers. The global perspective is then specified to Software as a Service and deployment of SaaS ERP products. The next goal is to define an appropriate method to analyze a company's needs prior to switching to the cloud. Furthermore, recommendations as to whether the cloud is better than an on-premise version should result from the previous analysis. Another aim is to form a process for successful switch to the cloud and ensure all important aspects of using cloud services are covered. Theoretical findings and recommendations are used in a practical example of SaaS ERP deployment. To reach all goals, a theoretical analysis of all available monograph and electronic sources, covering cloud computing and consultations with experts from the company; Algotech BSC, were used. The main added value is in the dual point of view on the topic, from customer's and provider's viewpoints with a more detailed focus on ERP. The author suggests the right procedure for switching to the cloud, guidance with calculating ROI, TCO and preparing all necessary contracts and agreements.
Measuring the return (ROI) on SaaS application in the acquisition and recruitment of employees

In this Bachelor's Theses I try to measure of return of SaaS application LMC G2 on the basis of methods for returning of IT investment. It is application from the company LMC and it is used in HRM for recruitment. The first aim of my Bachelor's Theses is statement of profitability for specific company. It is company from food industry on the Czech and Slovak market. The second aim is statement how LMC G2 has influence on quality, speed and cost of recruitment. This influence is determined by two ways. First one is based on indicators of recruitment. The second one is based on features of SaaS application and specific features of LMC G2.
Master Data Management, Customer Data Integration and value for business

This thesis is focused on Master Data Management (MDM), Customer Data Integration (CDI) area and its main domains. It is also a reference to a various theoretical directions that can be found in this area of expertise. It summarizes main aspects, domains and presents different perspectives to referenced principles. It is an exhaustive background research in area of Master Data Management with emphasis on practical use with references on authors experience and opinions. Secondary focus is directed to the field of business value of Master Data Management initiatives. Thesis presents a thought concept for initiations of MDM project. The reason for such a concept is based on current trend, where companies are struggling to determine actual benefits of MDM initiatives. There is overall accord on the subject of necessity of such initiatives, but the struggle is in area of determining actual measureable impact on company's revenue or profit. Since the MDM initiative is more of an enabling function, rather than direct revenue function, the benefit is less straight forward and therefore harder to determine. This work describes different layers and mapping of business requirements through layers for transparent linkage between enabling functions to revenue generating ones. The emphasis is given to financial benefit calculation, measurability and responsibility of business and IT departments. To underline certain conclusions thesis also presents real world interviews with possible stakeholders of MDM initiative within the company. These representatives were selected as key drivers for such an initiative. Interviews map their recognition of MDM and related terms. It also focus on their reasons and expectations from MDM. The representatives were also selected to equally represent business and IT departments, which presents interesting clash of views and expectations.

The fundamental problem of a company restructuring is the absence of a common criteria indicator when deciding among the product, process and source alternatives. The aim of the study is to solve the problem with new process metrics of capital and ROI and to describe the main areas of the practical use of the new solution.

In the end of this part there are described different ways how to implement e-learning in a company. Practical part concerns information about a company - PRAKAB PRAZSKA KABELOVNA, a.s., possible ways of aplication education. In the final part of the thesis a solution is recommended and compared with an opinion of the personal manager of this company.
