Analýza licencí typu open source a jejich použití v praxi

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse the most commonly used open source/free software licenses. After brief introduction to the history and defining related terms, there is a classification of licenses by the method of distribution. An analysis of the most common licenses is brought in, followed by presentation of the main points of licensing conditions in the Czech language. The main purpose of this work is to create a transparent methodology for selecting the proper licenses according to defined criteria and the appropriate application. The work contains a simple table of licenses, divided by the selected criteria, which also refers to the detailed description of licensing terms. The main contribution of this work is an understandable description of the software licenses and the aforementioned methodology.
Selection of open source DMS products for small and medium enterprises

My bachelor thesis is dedicated to the topic of selection process of document management products for small and medium businesses. Its goal is to describe particularities of document management selection process for small and medium enterprises. Introduction part deals with the explanation of basic terms, related to the topic of document management. Another part is dedicated to the description of document management systems and their functionality. It also discusses about assets of implementation of these systems, motivation of organizations for their deployment and at the same time about risks for enterprise when it decides not to deploy these systems. Consequently a definition of open source software is provided together with its advantages and disadvantages. In a separate chapter small and medium businesses are characterized along with their particularities when compared to big enterprises and their typical approach to handling documents. Based on this characterization arose requirements of these enterprises on document management system, they were supplemented with demands, which should enterprise request from an open source software and with specific requirements on functionality. These demands defined restrictions, on whose basis an overview of available open source document management systems was compiled. At the same time these requirements represented the base for defining measures for closer comparison of products from the overview. Particular measures were given emphasizes and to show how products fulfilled these measures points were used. Scores were put into well arranged tables and results were interpreted.
Analysis of free / open source software deployment in small and medium enterprises

The here presented thesis deals with an evaluation of possible deployment of free / open source software in small and medium enterprises. In the introductory theoretical part fundamental concepts, specifics of software licenses and availability of free alternatives to commercial software are discussed. In the following practical part an analysis of the total cost of ownership of two variants is performed - one utilizing only free software, the other utilizing only generic commercial software.
Customization in open source CRM applications

This thesis is about customization and her evaluation in open source CRM systems. The objective of this thesis is determine theoretical framework of term customization, personalization and CRM, establish the method of the evaluation of the level of customization and make an evaluation of the level of customizacion CRM systems through the mentioned method. In the fist part of the thesis I explain terms of customization and personalization. There are defined original formulas necessary for understanding of this thesis. The second part is about determination of general method of evaluation customization in CRM systems. The third part of thesis enlarges the evaluation of concrete products, their comparison and final evaluation. There are evaluated products from open source CRM systems.
Evaluation of LMS Moodle's functionality for the purpose of supporting the application administrator

This bachelor thesis deals with administrator environment of the Learning Management System Moodle. The aim is to provide a basic outline of the alternatives for administrative tools supporting the learning procedure in Moodle and to create a user's guide for LMS Moodle. The characterisation focuses on the administration of users, courses, modules, appearances, security and some other basic settings. A brief survey on functioning of the system among Czech universities is also a part of this thesis. Finally I give a summary of over-all advantages and disadvantages of LMS Moodle and its suitability for business sector. The survey shows the users' level of satisfaction and their abilities in operating LMS Moodle in accordance with their user's status (administrator, teacher or student). The last chapter centres on the new Moodle for mobile technologies. The actual survey and the description of advantages and disadvantages of e-learning are attached.
Comparison of Open Source relational database systems

This thesis deals with the subject of Open Source relational database systems. Its goal is to provide an overview about these systems, analyze their position on market and compare them according to predefined comparative criteria, which are focused on specific general features and administration of database systems. The first part of the thesis provides necessary theoretical knowledge about database systems describes currently most widely used types of these systems and explains the term Open Source software. Next one is aimed on how are these systems used in companies information systems and how are they positioned on database market. Third part presents four most widespread Open Source relational database systems, states their development in time from their creation till nowadays and what licenses are they provided under. Following is a part dedicated to specification of comparative criteria, which is followed by the comparison of database systems in these criteria, always using one of three evaluation methods. In the last part of thesis the final review of gained knowledge and the results of the comparison are presented in summarized graphs. The thesis could be used as a unified information source for computer specialists in different job positions - IT Managers, database administrators or systems integrators - while choosing suitable Open Source relation database system for engineered or redesigned information system of a company.
Free Software and the Possibilities of its Application in Teaching at the Faculty of Management of Prague School of Economics

The bachelor thesis deals with the possibilities of using free software (and very closely related open source) in academic environment. At first, it explains the term itself and principles. It slightly affects the motivation factor, which goes along with this specific model of software development and also gives an overview of the subjects, which are involved in it. Then it focuses on key legal issues, including types of licenses. A summary of the pros and cons is included as well. The main part is the concrete offer and characteristics of programs divided into groups according to the focus. At the end the thesis introduces with the examples of use in practice.
Suitability analysis of use free/open source software for legal person

My Bachelor thesis deals with use of free/open source software as alternative to traditional proprietary software. In theoretical part of thesis, I'm describing kinds of software, forms of its spreading and types of licenses, we can meet. In second part of this section of thesis, I introduce reader to some basic concepts of open source operating systems with the most common applications. In practical part of thesis I devote to particular model of application open source software in public administration. The model is situated in municipal authority of Hořice v Podkrkonoší. As criteria for consideration about successfulness in implementation of alternative variant of software I used total costs of ownership against costs spent to the proprietary variant. In the end of my thesis I evaluate results of application part and general relationship of information technology market with open source software.
Problems of licensing

This work concerns with possibilities of licensing. There are mentioned advantages and disadvantages of particular models. Further on, the prediction of future situation in the IT market, new techniques, trends and reasons of these changes are introduced. Work addresses to both types of software -- proprietary software and Open Source software. Next part of work deals with software piracy and problems, which are connected with it. In second part of the work are theoretical knowledge converted into practice. There is examined license politics of Microsoft and possibilities which are offered to different customers. The final part concerns with two firms which operate on Czech market. There is a view to licenses, which are owned by firms, followed by recommendation of optimization.
Approach to the selection of content management system for the organization concerned

The feature objective of this work is to select appropriate content management system for the organization concerned, in the concrete Filmový klub VŠE. This is achieved by setting criteria and forming a methodological approach. The selection process is first defined in general conditions. Then the process is placing restrictive conditions narrowing the set of available products. This procedure is then verified in practical terms of Filmový klub VŠE. Afterwards, the three most suitable systems are valued in accordance with established criteria and the best one that meets the specified conditions is chosen. Created approach can be applied to any other comparable organization. The work is structured into three main parts. The first part deals with the theory related to content management systems. The second part defines the general methodology in the organizations concerned and in the last part is the methodology applied to a specific case and the evaluation is done.
