Different metabolic pathwazy of the origin of hyperhomosysteinemia
Přistoupilová, K. ; Přistoupil, T. I. ; Navrátil, Tomáš ; Heyrovský, Michael ; Šenholdová, Z. ; Kohlíková, E. ; Petr, M.
Our voltammetric method of estimation of thiodiglycolic acid (TDGA) in urine was used in case of a woman suffering from rare inborn inability to metylate homocysteine (HoCySH). The aim of this pilot study was to shed more light on the interrelationship among vitamin B.sub.12./sub., folates, and betaine used for her cure. On the basis of the achieved results we were able to modify our earlier published metabolic scheme. It comprises 3 metabolic pathways starting from serine, and three metabolic pathways starting from HoCySH.
Distribution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the needles of Norway spruce /Picea abies /L./ Karst/
Tříska, Jan ; Cudlín, Pavel ; Růžičková, Kamila ; Vrchotová, Naděžda
Distribution of PAH in the needles is depending on many factors, such as type of forest stand, its density, sun-exposition, needle year-class etc.
T buňky mají zásadní úlohu při vytvoření protinádorové imunity u myší léčených protilátkou směrovanými konjugáty doxorubicinu a HPMA
Mrkvan, Tomáš ; Kovář, Marek ; Etrych, Tomáš ; Strohalm, Jiří ; Plocová, Daniela ; Ulbrich, Karel ; Říhová, Blanka
Anti-idiotype monoclonal antibody targeted N-(2-hydroxypropyl)methacrylamide copolymer bound doxorubicin is able to completely cure mice with BCL-1 B-cell leukemia. During the treatment the immune system is activated and effective long-term anti-tumor immunity is established. This immune reaction requires CD4+ and CD8+ cells.
Interaction of crack and aggregate in concrete
Keršner, Z. ; Náhlík, Luboš ; Knésl, Zdeněk
Concrete is represented as a two-phase material in this paper. Behaviour of a single macrocrack approaching to the interface between hardened cement paste (matrix) and aggregate (particle) is modelled. It is shown that in the case of where Young modulus of cement paste is greater then those of aggregates, the effective fracture toughness of concrete is predominantly given by fracture properties of aggregates.
Teoretické studium difúze iontů dúležitých pro analýzu dechu metodou SIFT-MS
Dryahina, K. ; Španěl, Patrik
Accuracy of quantitative Selected Ion Flow Tube Mass Spectrometry SIFT-MS is ultimately determined by the proper accounting in the data analysis for the effect of differential diffusion. Diffusion loss of the product ions can be typically lower by a factor of up to 3 in comparison with the precursor ions. Hard sphere model of diffusion of polyatomic ions in helium has been used to calculate diffusion coefficients of the precursor and product ions involved in SIFT-MS quantification of common breath metabolites ammonia, acetone, isoprene, acetaldehyde and ethanol. Calculation involves semiempirical PM3 method for determination of the geometries of the ions, numerical averaging of the geometrical cross section for collisions with helium atoms and construction of a model interaction (12, 4) model potential followed by the analytical calculation of ionic mobility using momentum-transfer collision integral. Finally the values of diffusion enhancement factors have been calculated.
Recyclation and Transformation of Homocysteine as a Part of Detoxication Processes in the Cell
Přistoupilová, K. ; Přistoupil, T. ; Šenholdová, Z. ; Navrátil, Tomáš ; Heyrovský, Michael
The presented metabolic pathways explain how the transformation of homocysteine affects the detoxication processes in the human cell. On the one hand homocysteine is recycled to methionine; on the other hand it is transformed to cysteine. Both pathways are connected by B12 vitamin. Their relation to the thiodiglycolic acid (TDGA), which represents a part of the detoxication processes, is demonstrated on the scheme. The changes in TDGA concentration in urine were found to depend on the changes in redox equilibria (of vitamin B12, folic acid, homocysteine). Key Words: Thiodiglycolic acid, TDGA, vitamin B12, folic acid, metabolic pathways, homocysteine, detoxication.
Numerický 3D model kolize pevné částice s drsným dnem kanálu
Lukerchenko, Nikolay ; Chára, Zdeněk ; Vlasák, Pavel
The paper deals with 3D numerical model of the random process of rotating spherical particle-bed impact and rebound for saltation movement of a particle in channels with rough bed. The collision height and the contact point are defined as random variables of the collision process. The collision height depends on bed roughness. The contact point position depends on the irection of the particle velocity vector before the collision
The natural fish reproduction of lowland stretches of Morava and Dyje rivers
Valová, Z. ; Jurajda, Pavel
Lowland rivers decreased their habitat diversity and get an uniform character due to their regulation and channelisation. This modifications affected the natural fish reproduction. The efficiency of natural fish reproduction was studied using Point Abundance Sampling strategy by electrofishing in three differently modified stretches of two adjacent lowland rivers in the late summer of 1999-2003.
Selected aspects of variable life insurance
Krajčovič, Michal ; Ducháčková, Eva (advisor) ; Daňhel, Jaroslav (referee)
The subject of this thesis is the analysis of unit linked insurance in the insurance market of Czech Republic. United linked insurance is presented as a successful combination of risks coverage and savings unit. We are talking about mixed insurance in case of death or survival exact age with single or normal insurance premium, where the size of indemnity depends on yields from investments. It is very complicated insurance product with many benefits and disadvantages. The thesis is divided into more chapters. The first chapter is devoted to determination of the concept and classification of unit linked insurance. In the second one I describe the situation and development trends in the field of unit linked insurance in Czech insurance market. Further chapters involve specific aspects and problems of the product, actual situation in regard of financial crisis and anticipated future development.
Disk arrays, use in small business
Sládek, Petr ; Jandoš, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Čech, Milan (referee)
Thesis aims to examine issues of disk arrays and their deployment in small business. It will focus not only on theoretical description of technologies, but also to carry out practical tests and performance characteristics, conduct or analysis in the field of non-standard situations. To describe the theoretical background of the problem, I used the available literature and web resources. The practical test then served on borrowed Adaptec RAID controller and on the motherboard Asus. Given the rapid evolution of SSD drives in my test also included the performance tests of this device. Recent work also includes a survey among small business company, which serves to assess the various criteria for evaluation. Currently, it is very difficult to find specific tests of controllers or less usual levels of disk arrays, which many manufacturers use. The results can therefore serve as a valuable source of information for users seeking the best solution for their needs. They may be useful as theoretical tests and service experience. From the previous lines then follows the structure of work. The first part is purely theoretical, and aims to acquaint the reader with problems. The second part focuses on the synthetic and practical test of arrays and SSD and is accompanied by a description of the behavior of various configurations of hard disk failure. The last two parts evaluates the results, the criteria are partially dependent on the results of the survey, which can be found in the last part.
