Modeling of biologically relevant lipid multilayers in the context of drug delivery
Saija, Maria Chiara ; Cwiklik, Lukasz (advisor) ; Szczęsna-Iskander, Dorota (referee) ; Heyda, Jan (referee)
Understanding the topical drug delivery at basic physico-chemical and biophysical levels is still challenging. One of the main reasons is the specificity of the processes involved, depending on the delivery target. The tear film lipid layer plays a vital role in ocular health and serves as a target for topical ophthalmic drug delivery. This doctoral thesis investigates two topics related to topical eye delivery, including a case study of drug delivery systems and their major components in the tear film lipid layer, and the effect of a lipid modification on a lipid-associate peptide as a potential drug. This research is conducted by using molecular dynamics simulations, which are comple- mented by various experimental techniques. The research about the drug delivery systems is threefold: the first objective is to study the impact of commonly used preservatives on the tear film lipid layer; the second one is to explore the influence of the latanoprost drug on the tear lipids; the third one is to investigate different drug delivery systems containing latanoprost drug and their interaction with the lipid layer in the tears. These studies are conducted by combining molecular dynamics simulations and the experiments involving the Langmuir-type lipids film. The key findings of this research have practical...
High order numerical method in modelling and control systems
Simulation of Physical Phenomena Using Cellular Automata
Martinek, Dominik ; Smrčka, Aleš (referee) ; Peringer, Petr (advisor)
This master's thesis deals with modelling and simulation of physical phenomena by cellular automata. The basic methods which model physical phenomena is enumerated and descibed in this thesis. One of the important part of this thesis is a set of demonstration models. Each model is focused on one selected area of physical phenomena. All models are described by transtition rules and the procedure of derivation of these rules is also presented here. There rules were used in implemented models.  Another part of this thesis contains of a simulation application for these models. The real application had been implemented in accord with this design and it has been used to perform the simulation experiments with exemplary models. Results of the simulation experiments are discussed in conclusion of this thesis. One exemplary model had also been adapted for parallel processing. The performances on a computer with different count of working processors were measured and are also discussed in the conclusion of this thesis
HIL test stand for universal electronic control units
Zouhar, Štěpán ; Musil, Filip (referee) ; Brablc, Martin (advisor)
This diploma thesis is focused on testing of Electronic Control Units, especially functional testing in which hardware and software is verified and also Model in the Loop, Software in the Loop, Processor in the Loop and Hardware in the Loop testing methods. Within practical part of this thesis testing stand for functional test of the ECU was developed and manufactured. It is connected to PC via Input/Output card, testing is controlled by MATLAB script. Whole process of testing is automated from initial upload of testing firmware to tested ECU over all phases of test up to bootloader flashing. Hardware in the Loop test was also created, in which ECU works as controller and DC motor is simulated in real time with PC in MATLAB environment.
Modulated ultrasonic water jet cutting – optimization of the liquid wave guide shape
Veselý, Radek ; Foldyna, Josef (referee) ; Habán, Vladimír (advisor)
High speed water jets have un-substitutable place in unconventional technologies in the machining of materials. Indeed its larger spreading is limited above all by its really high purchase price and also high costs of the operation. Certain possibility is represented by high-speed pulsating jets, which don’t put such a high pretension on arrangement of generating the pressure during the comparable operation. Probably the most effective method of the generating of pulsating water jets is ultrasonic modulation. This work could benefit to understanding spreading of pressure impulses between ultrasonic generator and output nozzle. Pulsating is solved by the numerical calculation using transfer matrix method.
Modeling, simulation and experimental measurement of reaction of systems heating / ventilation requirements of regulation
Matějíček, Michal ; Komínek, Petr (referee) ; Hirš, Jiří (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the behavior of technical systems of the student dormitory in Brno. The temperature and humidity climate was measured and evaluated in the building. The measurement is then compared with the computer simulation created in DesignBuilder. The geometric model of the building was created in Revit, which supports BIM technology. Based on the evaluation of the experiment, the optimization of the technical systems in the building was proposed.
Adaptive Model for Simulation of Atmospheric Pollution
Pazúriková, Jana ; Šátek, Václav (referee) ; Dvořák, Radim (advisor)
Air pollution harms the environment and human welfare. Computer models and their simulation are useful tools for deeper understanding of processes behind as they quite accurately represent the dispersion and transformation of pollutants with advection diffusion equation or by other concepts. Current models give valid results only to constrained cases of initial conditions. The general model combining the several specific models which is able to change according to input parametres and improve with training is proposed. The adaptiveness of the system is provided by decision tree as data structure with information for selection and combination process and genetic algorithm as optimization method for adjusting the tree. The evaluation of implemented system proves that the combination of models gives better results than models themselves. Even with simple specific models, the system has achieved results comparable to state-of-art models of air pollution.
Application of discrete simulation in support of the conveyor technology design
Prokop, Aleš ; Štoček, Jiří (referee) ; Škopán, Miroslav (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with analysis of current state of the paint shops M11A and M11B in Mladá Boleslav and following creation of the universal simulation model of the paint shop M11A in the company Škoda Auto a.s. by which availability of daily production in different input parameters will be verify. The model of the paint shop M11A will be created in system SimPro which comes under the programs working with discreet simulation. The model input parameters will be defined in the program Excel. According to these experiments will be possible realized a detailed analysis of results of the simulation.
Ventilation of sports hall
Urban, Ondřej ; Blasinski, Petr (referee) ; Uher, Pavel (advisor)
The master thesis deals with flow modeling in the CFD program. By means of which the opti-mal version of the air distribution diffuser in the sports hall will be selected. The first variant will bring fresh air through textile diffusers. The second variant will bring fresh air through flooded large circular diffusers. The tested parameter of the indoor environment will be the flow velocity and the age of the air. The better-performing version will be processed as an implementation documentation.
